Yes - Leave it Yes are an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968 and generally regarded as one of the archetypal bands of the genre. Despite a great many lineup changes, occasional splits within the group and the ever-changing trends in popular music, the band has continued on for over forty years and still retains a large following. The band's music blends symphonic and other 'classical' structures with their own brand of rock music, which is marked by sharp dynamic contrasts, extended song lengths, abstract lyrics, and a general showcasing of instrumental prowess. Although the band's sole consistent member has been bass player Chris Squire (noted for his highly melodic and discursive playing as well as his early use of electronic effects), Yes is also generally noted for the distinctive high-register vocals of lead singer Jon Anderson and the eclectic musical stylings of a succession of guitarists (Peter Banks, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Billy Sherwood), keyboard players (Tony Kaye, Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz, Geoff Downes, Igor Khoroshev) and drummers (Bill Bruford and Alan White). Several band members became celebrated musicians and/or bandleaders in their own right, and a 1980 lineup of the band was briefly fronted by future production star Trevor Horn. ________________________________________ I can feel no sense of measure No illusions as we take Refuge in young man's pleasure Breaking down the dreams we make Real One down one to go Another town and one more show ...

And You and I by Yes And You and I, need I say more. This is a song for the ages. I am not sure why I never wrote a description. It is a life changing, life forming, life giving song, that is PERFECT in so many ways. As a traveler and a teacher of sorts and a preacher of sorts, I know all too well. From Wikipedia: I. Cord of Life The song opens with Steve Howe tuning his guitar, and his voice can be heard at the beginning of the track, then playing mostly natural harmonics, played around what will become the central melody, using a 12-string Acoustic guitar which quickly forms into a simple chord progression over distant organ chords. Then, the Moog comes, sounding like a child's instrument, for a simple solo, which presents us the main theme of the next part, but in a completely different arrangement. After that, the vocals begin at about 1:40. The line "All Complete in the sight of seeds of life with you" is spoken, which is repeated throughout the song. At about 2:50, there's an utter change: Anderson sings a sharper melody, accompanied by a second vocal track by Anderson harmonizing with himself, plus Chris Squire and Steve Howe providing a counter-melody and alternate lyrics, with their voices fed through a Leslie Speaker. II. Eclipse is the slowest part of the song based on a measured and deliberate melody reminiscent of Sibelius. It is led by Rick Wakeman's epic Mellotron and Minimoog synthesizer. The lyrics are all from the first stanza of "The Cord of Life", but are sung in a ...

Bernard Butler & McAlmont - Yes Video With all this interest in Duffy at the moment its forced me to dig out some of my Bernard Butler videos . Duffy related as ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler is her song writer and producer as well as being a fantastic guitarist . His songs always managed to bring out the best in Mc Almonts voice in thier partnership and they do the same for Duffy . Im also a great lover of Phil Spector and Roy Wood style of "wall of Sound" productions and Bernard Butler seems to be able to always pull it off and remind me of that stuff.

Wonderous Stories by Yes From wikipedia: Going for the One is the eighth studio album by British progressive rock band Yes. It was released in 1977 after an extended break for solo activity, and is especially notable for marking the return of keyboardist Rick Wakeman, who had departed in 1974 in the aftermath of the Tales from Topographic Oceans tour. His re-entry was facilitated by the departure of Patrick Moraz, after having only played on Relayer, although Moraz is thanked in the credits. After their extended break, the band regrouped in Switzerland, refreshed and ready to record in late 1976. The album was recorded at Mountain Studios by recording engineers John Timperley and David Richards. After constructing epic tracks for the last few years, Yes felt inspired to scale things back a bit and recorded some of their most direct and concise material since Fragile. Wakeman also varied his sound by largely forsaking his mellotron and experimenting with church organ on "Parallels" and the sole extended track, "Awaken". Century Plaza Towers After many successive album covers with Roger Dean, Yes (who also produced the album entirely by themselves) instead commissioned Hipgnosis (known for designing album covers for Pink Floyd) to create the artwork for Going for the One. The album cover features the Century Plaza Towers in Los Angeles, also known locally as the Twin Towers. Yes's return at the height of the punk movement was an unexpectedly successful one, with Going for the One reaching the ...

Roundabout by Yes Reuploaded thanks to a tip from scunnewman. Thanks! From Wikipedia: "Roundabout" is the opening track for the 1971 album Fragile by British progressive rock band Yes. The song was written by singer Jon Anderson and guitarist Steve Howe. In January 1972, an edited version of the song was released as a single with "Long Distance Runaround" on the B-side. "Roundabout" has become one of the best-known songs by Yes. Live versions of the song are found on the albums Yessongs (1973), Keys to Ascension (1996), House of Yes: Live from House of Blues (2000), and Live at Montreux 2003 (2007). The Yessongs version was released as a single in 1974.[1] An acoustic arrangement of "Roundabout" was recorded for The Ultimate Yes: 35th Anniversary Collection, released in 2003. The single was one of the band's biggest hits in the United States, peaking at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 (then called the Pop Singles Chart).[2] The single version of the song was edited down to 3:27 for American pop radio airplay, although many stations played the full version of the song. "Roundabout" peaked at #22 on the Dutch Top 40.[3] Anderson has said that the song's cryptic lyrics simply came to him while driving to the studio one early morning. This explains the lyric "Call it morning driving through the sound and even in the valley". [citation needed] Howe's use of octave harmonics on the acoustic guitar introduction of the song and the instrumental break in the middle, plucking four notes that compose an ...

07 Owner Of A Lonely Heart EDIT: I get tons of emails asking me for a DVD of this show. There has never been any official release of this gig, but there are two unofficial DVDs. One of them has the full concert but with a bad soundmix and not very good camera angles but it's quite widespread among Yes fans. The other one, the source of these clips, is not the full show but has sound mixed by Trevor Rabin and well cut video, presumably ready for a video release which never happened. You can get both in the Trading Room at , THE forum for every true fan of Yes OR you can download them as torrents from Dime-a-Dozen. Close to the Edge by Yes Part 1 of 2 Meaning of the Lyrics from Wikipedia: In a May 27, 1996 interview with Elizabeth Gips on her show "Changes" (KKUP, Cupertino, CA), transcribed in the "Notes From the Edge" fanzine (issue #0159, August 23, 1996), Jon Anderson mentions, probably not for the first time, that the song—indeed, the whole album—is inspired by Hermann Hesse's book Siddhartha. "[We] did one album called Close to the Edge. [It] was based on the Siddhartha... You always come back down to the river. [You] know, all the rivers come to the same ocean. That was the basic idea. And so we made a really beautiful album[....]" This explanation can cast the cryptic and mysterious lyrics in a new light, tracking the awakening of Hesse's character "close to the edge" of a river (and, symbolically, of the serial lifetimes of his soul) where he experiences a spiritual awakening. According to that point of view, the lyrics are about how people can seek spiritual illumination, and find a new state of mind, living a whole life. In addition, Anderson was also concerned about how the words sounded, sometimes more than what they meant, creating, thus, verses that often don't seem to mean anything, such as "The time between the notes relates the colour to the scenes".
