George Formby - She's Never Been Seen Since Then/Swimmin' With The Wimmin' (1933) George Formby - She's Never Been Seen Since Then/Swimmin' With The Wimmin' (1933) After an unsuccessful career as a jockey George Formby followed in his Fathers' footsteps to become a Comedian and cut 116 records in a career that spanned 40 years from 1921 until his death in 1961. Formby took the stage name of his father (George Formby Senior) who had been a famous Music Hall turn in the Edwardian era. He was unable to read music or even tune his banjolele (which had a banjo body and a ukulele neck) so he had many instruments all pre-tuned to the song he was going to sing and swapped between them. Despite this he entertained millions through the Thirties and Forties in films and on record and touring for the Troops during the War.
