water lillies at Musée de l'Orangerie - paris The Musée de l'Orangerie is an art gallery of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings located on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. It contains works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Chaim Soutine, Alfred Sisley and Maurice Utrillo among others. The gallery is on the bank of the Seine in the old orangery of the Tuileries Palace on the Place de la Concorde near the Concorde metro station. A cycle of Monet's water-lily paintings, known as the Nympheas, was arranged on the ground floor of the Orangerie in 1927. The museum has housed the Walter-Guillaume collection of impressionist paintings since 1965. The museum was closed to the public from the end of August 1999 until May 2006. For several months before it was closed there was a special exhibit of Monet's Nympheas that were gathered from museums throughout the world. More than 60 of the 250 paintings he made of the water lilies in his garden were included. The walls were repainted in shades of purples and violet for this special exhibit. The Orangerie was renovated in order to move the paintings to the upper floor of the gallery. They are now available under direct diffused light as was originally intended by Monet. The eight paintings are displayed in two rooms.

Waterlily House (Pls Watch in Full HD 720 or 1080 ) Recently I visited the Kew Gardens. This is a place which is amazing and is covered with plants & trees. It is a special place for people who love the flora & flowers. There were several glasshouses which contained tropical plants & trees and this was the speciality of the gardens. A place I really liked was the Liliy House. I had heard about the huge water lily leaves but this was the first time that I saw it. I spent a couple of hours admiring it and I couldnt leave it. Here are some memories from this amazing place. Waterlily House ============ The Waterlily House was designed to exhibit the giant waterlily (Victoria amazonica) but the plant never thrived there. Today, one of its closest relatives, Victoria cruziana, inhabits the enclosed pond instead. Gourds and other climbers also enjoy the hot moist environment. Historical information =============== This small, elegant glasshouse is another of Kew's classic listed buildings. its square glazed structure encloses a circular pond spanning 36 feet. It was completed in 1852 specifically to showcase the giant Amazon waterlily (now called Victoria amazonica), which had first been encountered by European botanists in South America at the beginning of the 19th century. With ironwork by Richard Turner who had built the Palm House in the preceding decade, the Waterlily House was at the time the widest single-span glasshouse in the world. NEW Waterlily Bulls Eye Red pond fish Waterlily for watergarden or the pond, RED! the most red on the market very similar to Charlie's Pride. Introduced by florida aquatic nurseris. Joining the market the same year as the amazing purple Ultra Violet this water lilies color stands out amazingly. Having both plants last year mard for one of the most spectacular shows. We used Ken Landon Fertilizer for waterlilies and 5 gallon containers to grow each plant. We had up to 5 blooms every day (note this fil was shot 12 days after planting in June so they appear young here). On the second part of the video Tim Davis talks about Bull's Eye, the petals and the green pads at the San Angelo Waterlily Collection. This is one of the most spectacular lilies and the best red I have ever seen slightly beating Charlies Pride. Much improved over Miami Rose or Jack Wood in size and petal count.

I really love Lotus flowers and therfore I captured this too.. Giant waterlilies ============= These huge aquatic plants are native to tropical South America. Did you know? ========== Giant waterlilies (Victoria amazonica) were first discovered in Bolivia in 1801 and subsequently named in honour of Queen Victoria The enormous leaves, which grow to over 2.5m across, have a network of protruding ribs on the underside, which give the leaf buoyancy and stability A mature leaf can support 45 kg, if the load is evenly distributed The flowers are large and fragrant, but relatively short-lived, lasting only 48 hours or so. As each flower matures, it changes colour from white, through pink, to purplish-red, finally sinking below the surface.. The pond within the aquaria section contains the Asian form of the giant waterlily Euryale ferox. This plant has huge leaves that can span two metres and are strong enough to take the weight of baby without sinking. On the lower level, there are viewing windows so visitors can see the pond from a fish's eye view. Close by are separate tanks containing a rhombeus piranha, poison-dart tree frogs and baby water dragons. These displays demonstrate how plants and animals interact in their natural tropical rainforest habitats.

Note the new plantlets beginning on older leaves where the stem connects to the underside of each lilypad. This is a wonderful way for (only the few) viviparous waterlilies to reproduce without messing with tubering or seeds. Monet's Water Lilies BRETT MARVIN Art Painting Le bassin aux nympheas, one of four pieces from the French impressionist's water lily series, almost doubled the previous record price for a Monet, the £20.9 million for his 1873 work Le Pont du Chemin de Fer a Argenteuil which sold in May. The Monet canvas, which was displayed in front of a packed auction house, was sold to a telephone bidder. The signed and dated 1919 painting has only been seen in Unlike most of his later works which remained unfinished in his studio after his death, the water-lily series was completed in his lifetime. One is in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, another was divided and a third is in a private collection. Before the auction, Olivier Camu, Christie's director and head of Impressionist and Modern Art, described it as "the greatest of Claude Monet's water-lily pictures to be offered at auction in Europe". It was the star lot of Christie's Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale that also featured works by Picasso, Matisse, Kandinsky, Renoir, Degas and Henry Moore. The sale was initially expected to fetch £90 million but - as has become familiar in auction rooms this summer - that was set to be easily exceeded. NEW "Ultra Violet Water lily" (waterlily) Dark purple, Landon Fertilizer Purchase at Ken Landon fertilizer continues to impress with my juvenile Ultra Violet plant. 8 buds last week at or above the surface and at least 4 blooms each day. 'Ultra Violet' is unique because it's flowers are deep purple, darker than Director Moore. The flower stands tall and consist of 70 petals which gives it the unique fullness. The pads are maroon color with slight splashes of lighter red. Awarded Best New Waterlily Hybrid Overall in the IWGS 2008 waterlily hybridizing contest. in September we should be able to compare 3 dark new purples. Tanzanite - another introduction by Florida Aquatic nurseries and McPurple by McDonald which I hear is quite deep purple.

Blue Cloud waterlily, huge, made by Ken Landon, Cool Tolerance is excellent the most famous waterlily of Ken Landon to date. An Aussie plant crossed and crossed back to handle much cooler weather than a typical austrailian. Flowers can stand more than two feet above the water and bloom more then 15 inches across. Seen only through this year (2010) at the San Angelo International Waterlily Collection. The plant still needs to remain warm at all times probably above 55 low temperature to continue blooming. It tubers very well.
