Marcarini- 2006 Vintage Offering The 2006 vintage is another classic year in the Piedmont, which is having another outstanding run this last decade with just 2002 making the cut for an off year, but don't tell that to our tasters that were here for our La Spinetta event last week- we sold more of the 2002 La Spinetta Barbaresco than anything at the event! We have around 8 cases of this wine left in stock! The thing that I tell people in regard to vintage is that it is an indicator as to when to drink the wines. Most of these better 2006's are showing nicely right now in their youth but they will most likely shut down for a period of years as most great classic vintages do. You can keep the best of these wines for 20+ years. These wines are very classic examples of Barolo and they will benefit from cellaring but as I mentioned they will be drinking nicely for a period of time and are great to try in their youth before they go to sleep for some time. We do a number of vintage Piedmont tastings through the course of the year and often times the oldest wine on the table is the crowd's favorite- like at our Gaja event last year, the 1964 Barbaresco stole the show.

Domaine de Chevalier 16 vintages with Olivier Bernard Dating back to at least the 17th Century, Domaine de Chevalier is a jewel in the Bordeaux crown. Producing both red and white wines, Domaine de Chevalier - located in Leognan - enjoys an interesting microclimate, surrounded by forest. Since 1983, Olivier Bernard has owned and run the estate. While the whites always had been appreciated, Bernard has done much to improve both the white and the red wines. It proved interesting to see how a group of Washington DC-based sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine merchants and wine lovers evaluated 10 vintages of red Domaine de Chevalier: 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 2000, followed by lunch with three older reds (1991, 1981 and 1961) and whites (2001, 1991 and 1981). The tasting lunch took place at Black Salt, just next door, on Saturday 29 January. Many thanks to MacArthur Beverages for assuring safe transport and storage of all the wines, which had been all shipped ex-château one month earlier.
Fender American Vintage 57 P-Bass Fender invented the Electric Bass in 1951 in response to requests from musicians for a louder, easier-to-handle bass. This new instrument was named the Precision Bass. Unlike its predecessor the acoustic stand-up bass, the P-Bass had frets, which allowed bassists to play with "precision." Needless to say, a "new playing sensation" was born and the sound of popular music changed forever. The American Vintage '57 and '62 Precision Basses pay tribute to the originals with accurate detailing from their respective vintages. In the half-century since its introduction in 1951, the Precision Bass guitar has dramatically influenced the way we play and hear music and has affected almost every musical genre. Our American Vintage 57 Precision Bass pays tribute to this landmark instrument with accurate details-including the electronics and hardware-and features including an alder or ash body, split single-coil pickups with raised pole pieces for the A string, vintage tuning machines and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. A Tasting of 3 great vintages of Chateau Gruaud Larose 2000, 2005 & 2009...Three famous vintages in Bordeaux and particularly at Chateau Gruaud Larose, a second growth wine from Saint Julien. David Launay tasted them in September 2010 and makes comments on their potential. Eric Boissenot : " This is an exceptional vintage at Gruaud Larose. After 2007 and the delicious Gruaud Larose 2008, this new vintage highlights the splendour of a unique terroir. This Gruaud Larose 2009 is generous and full-bodied with an extraordinary volume. It is a wine with a beautiful density but whose tannic structure is incredibly soft. I am impressed by how seductive this wine has been ever since the harvest time. This is a sign of a rare quality."

Westvleteren 12 (2010 vintage) | Chad'z Beer Reviews Happy New Year, everybody! And what better way to ring it in than with a review of a FRESH botle of Westvleteren 12. Seems like everyone has been reviewing vintages of it recently, but I thought I'd be the first person to review a fresh bottle to see how it compares. Also, you'll get to see me review an entire bottle all by myself. I was criticized last time for not speaking enough during the review, so now you get 10 minutes of just me and the Westy 12! Here's a link to that article about Westvleteren going commercial (if only for a short time): BREWERY'S DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION: With the exception of our Blond beer, Trappist beer will keep for years: give the beer time and it will continue to ripen. The minimum sell-by date is stamped on the capsule. Store the bottles vertically in a dark place between 12° and 16° C. It is better not to refrigerate Trappist 8 and Trappist 12; Trappist Blond, on the other hand, may also be served cooled. Discovery of wine - Episode 14 - The vintage, important or not? Because I insisted on getting you guys to buy Côte-du-Rhône 2007s yesterday, I come back on the subject of the vintage for a specific area. Basically in an excellent vintage most producers will make a good wine in a given area, however you can have bad surprises just as you can have good surprises in a bad vintage for a fraction of the price. I am obviously generalizing here since everything is possible but it might be a good idea to learn the great vintages for the wines from your favorite regions for the next time you're at the SAQ or at the restaurant.

Team Fortress 2 Crafting Vintage Weapons Apparently, a lot of people believe that Vintage weapons or Hats are different from normal non-vintage weapons. And thus people believe they are worth more in trades. People want a lot of items for them. And equally, poor saps will pay through the nose to get them. Believing that it'll increase the value of their backpack. Sad to say, the only different between a Vintage Weapon and the non-vintage form of the same weapon is just the name. THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME ITEM, IT IS JUST THAT THEIR NAME IS PURPLE. So here I am crafting some of my vintage items away in to metal. There's no real reason for vintages to be held in high regard as non-vintages. There's no differences between them aside from the name. A non-vintage homewrecker will kill sappers all the same as vintage homewrecker. A non-vintage Jarate will coat enemies with a vile smelly liquid the same way as a vintage Jarate. Eating too many non-vintage Dalokoh's bars will make you just as fat as a vintage Dalokoh's Bar does. Need I go on? So I say, down with vintage! I urge everyone to not pay through the nose for them, nor should they want others to pay through their noses for them. I urge everyone to craft as many vintage weapons as they can to make metal. And repeat after me: A vintage weapon is the same as a non-vintage weapon, and the only different is cosmetic! Are you with me!?
Samichlaus Helles (2007 vintage) | Chad'z Beer Reviews Since today is Christmas Eve and tonight is Santa Claus's night, I pay tribute by reviewing a beer bearing his name. There are two versions of this beer, the Samichlaus Classic which is a double bock, and the Samichlaus Helles which is a hellerbock ("helles" is German for "bright" - it has nothing to do with Hell). Even though this beer is ONLY 14% ABV, it's the beer I consider to be the world's TRULY strongest beer. Samichlaus is made with BEER yeast AND it's not an ale, it's a lager - which is a more difficult style to brew. Those "extreme beers" by Dogfish Head, Samuel Adams, Brewdog and other breweries use saki yeast and/or they're not brewed like beer, but distilled like a spirit. Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone! BREWERY'S DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION: Samichlaus is brewed only once a year on December 6, and is aged 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialty beers in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986. 14% ABV HOW THIS BEER RATES: Rate Beer: 87 (overall) 98 (style) Beer Advocate: B (users) CHAD'Z BEER FACEBOOK http TWITTER FOR DONATIONS OR TRADES PLEASE CONTACT ME AT chad9976@ CHECK OUT MY SECOND CHANNEL:
