SR 99 construction bypass: Keeping traffic moving through SODO On Oct. 21, we will close SR 99 and begin demolishing part of the viaduct. When SR 99 reopens to traffic on Oct. 31, both north and southbound traffic will be traveling on the first of two new bridges currently being built to the west of the existing viaduct. Drivers will pass through a large bypass located between South King Street and South Royal Brougham Way. The bypass will connect the new SR 99 bridge to the existing viaduct at South King Street. It also keeps traffic on SR 99 moving while giving central waterfront viaduct replacement crews enough space to work. South of South King Street, SR 99 will have two lanes in each direction. North of South King Street the viaduct will remain in its current configuration with three lanes in each direction. Learn more at: wsdot.wa.gov

Double Headed QJs on SiMingYi Viaduct 2004 The clip starts wide to reveal the context of this railway engineering marvel. The SiMingYi Bridge is in the lower left quadrant of the view. At this point, the eastbound train has traversed line on the valley floor in the distance on the left, and passed over the bridge in the distance near the village of SiMingYi. We zoom in on the train revealing double headed QJs working hard upgrade. Listen as the exhaust sounds of the two locomotives go in and out of synch with occasional slipping. The road where cars are passing by marks the starting point of our hike up the mountain. As the train passes over the viaduct the smoke casts a beautiful shadow on the landscape below. The clip ends with the engines going through a cut and disappearing into SiMingYi tunnel. Hadashan Station is about one more kilometer on the other side of the mountain.

Ribblehead Viaduct walk 2009 www.settle- This video is something a little different, & was a rare chance to take the camera's onto & across Ribblehead Viaduct. The railway line is the famous Settle to Carlisle main line, which runs through Britain's back bone the Pennine Hills. The Viaduct is also one of the famous land marks of this line & the Yorkshire Dales. It took according to our guide around 6 years in some the worst winter weather seen, to be built. The viaduct is: 104 ft. high 440 yds. long 24 arches Built 1870-1875 The weather up here can be pretty dire at times, for live weather conditions at this location see this link: I'd like to thank the Settle Carlisle trust for organising this event. A great but very wet day.

Purple Line Viaducts & Loop Track Renewal - Aug-Sept 2011 - Connections - Chicago Transit Authority Two upcoming projects demonstrate CTA investment in infrastructure - three Purple Line viaducts will be replaced and Loop Track Renewal is underway. CTA Purple Line customers are in line for improved travel times. Slow zones will be reduced with the replacement of three aging viaducts. A century of Chicago weather and transit wear and tear has taken a toll on three Purple Line viaducts. New viaducts are coming to Greenleaf, Dempster and Grove streets in Evanston. The Loop track renewal project is preemptive. By replacing track installed in the mid-1980s, the CTA will be able to avoid slow zone restrictions.

Alaskan Way Viaduct Bored Tunnel January 2009 In January 2009, Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire, King County Executive Ron Sims, and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels announced their recommendation to replace the central waterfront portion of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall. The recommendation includes a new waterfront surface street, an approximately 1.7 mile bored tunnel through downtown, transit investments, and downtown surface street improvements. This simulation shows an early design concept for the bored tunnel and the route it would follow under downtown Seattle. More information regarding the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Program is available at .

Four80East Viaduct. Four80East is the Toronto based electro jazz ensemble of Rob DeBoer (keyboards, bass and guitar) and Tony Grace (percussion); accompanied by various session musicians. Four80East began as a studio project when DeBoer and Grace, who had been writing, arranging and producing for other artists on their "Boomtang" label, put together material of their own and released it as "The Album", in 1997. The Album was well received by critics and the public alike. It was followed by "Nocturnal" in 2001, and "Round 3" in 2002. Their fourth album, "En Route" was released in 2007. Their fifth CD, Roll On, was released in 2009. Although Four80East began as a studio concept, they have evolved into a live act. Four80East's music is characterized by a distinctive melodic atmosphere; underpinned by heavy duty rhythm grooves. They are featured on the 2007 compilation album, The Weather Channel Presents: The Best of Smooth Jazz.
