Vernacular Houses The Ifugao house 'bale' is constructed following the same design principles as the granary. The main structure is supported on four main posts and a pyramidal roof rests on it.the residential area of the Ifugao house is in this main structure about two meters above the ground. Four wooden disks equipped at the top of the main posts as a rat preventor give the house quite similar impression to the granary. The granary itself is not only the place to store grain but the granary idol deities 'bulol', which are represented by wood carvings in the image of a man or pig, are also installed there. At the termination of the harvest all the households that have their granaries perform the granary-rite in order to activate 'bulol' idols. The idols are doused with rice wine and their faces are smeared with rice cakes. If these be not sufficiently, the 'bulol' is likely to become angry and make somebody of the household sick or make it impossible to have a good crop. As the granary belongs only to the wealthy class, the grain and 'bulol' are also allowed to be placed in the house in case a household has no granary.

Farina Mir The Punjabi Literary Formation: Language and Affect in a Vernacular Culture Webcast sponsored by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and lecture hosted by the Department of Asian Studies at UBC as part of the 2nd Annual Celebration of Punjabi in honour of the memory of Harjit K. Sidhu, Professor Farina Mir explores the contours of a colonial-era Punjabi literary formation in India. That is, those individuals who shared in the practices of producing, circulating, performing, and consuming Punjabi literary texts. She will argue that the Punjabi literary formations pragmatic engagements with colonial institutions were far less important than the affective attachments its adherents established with a place, with an old but dynamic corpus of stories, and with the moral sensibility that suffused those stories.

Rudyard Kipling "Danny Deever " Poem animation Vernacular Heres a virtual movie of the great Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936) reading his much loved he poem "Danny Deever" read here in a working class London Vernacular. "Danny Deever" is an 1890 poem by Rudyard Kipling, one of the first of the Barrack-Room Ballads. It received wide critical and popular acclaim, and is often regarded as one of the most significant pieces of Kipling's early verse. The poem, a ballad, describes the execution of a British soldier in India for murder. His execution is viewed by his regiment, paraded to watch it, and the poem is composed of the comments they exchange as they see him hanged. It is immediately noticeable that the poem is written in a vernacular English. Though the Barrack-Room Ballads have made this appear a common feature of Kipling's work, at the time it was quite unusual; this was the first of his published works to be written in the voice of the common soldier. The speech is not a direct representation of any single dialect, but it serves to give a very clear effect of a working class English voice of the period Joseph Rudyard Kipling (30 December 1865 18 January 1936) was an English author and poet. Born in Bombay, British India (now Mumbai), he is best known for his works The Jungle Book (1894) and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (1902), his novel, Kim (1901); his poems, including Mandalay (1890), Gunga Din (1890), If— (1910); and his many short stories, including The Man Who Would Be King (1888). He is regarded as a major "innovator in the art of ...

Learning From Vernacular - Exhibition Opening - Boisbuchet 2009 Learning from vernacular is possible and highly recommended. The collection of vernacular architecture at the Acm makes it a strong and representative body to undertake such an initiative and envisage contemporary efforts based on ***ogies. It thus makes it possible to offer multiple arrays of alternatives for the niche strategies, autonomous within the contemporary world. The Learning from vernacular exhibition presented at the Domaine de Boisbuchet (Lessac, France) comprises two primary sections. The first section, covering the entire ground floor, highlights the diversity of spatial methods explored by different cultures. While the second that is spread over the first floor concentrates on the use of a variety of building materials. The exhibition consists of about forty models at a scale of 1: 20, selected on the basis of their pertinence to this issue and the quality of execution. Each room contains a display of diagrams, and images captured recently on location by photographer Deidi von Schaewen. These displays help in understanding and visualising these constructions in their contemporary context. ilms, shown in different rooms, either illustrate life in those particular environments or the techniques used for construction. An exhibition conceptualised by Prof. Pierre Frey, EPFL-ENAC, in collaboration with anthropologist and architect, Franco La Cecla, academic host EPFL-ENAC 2009, and photographer and film director, Deidi von Schaewen at the invitation of ...

GameFAQs 6v9 Granary part 1 (medic POV) so the bros at gamefaqs decided to have an experiment. organized by iijasd, meth, and dr. john dorian and hosted by cerious with supers, we took 9 players who had only ever done pubs and 6 players who had played competitive games. the 9 pubstars were playing highlander (1 of each class) while the 6 comps were playing cevo rules (no more than 2 of each class, only one demo or medic). i was a medic sub for the comp team as the real medic ended up subbing for one of the scouts. this is granary from my point of view. (part 1) granary was an interesting match. the pubstars start doing a lot better turning what was a complete roll into a more competitive battle. ultimately though, our team had more mobility and teamwork than theirs and that won the game for us. note: they were using the in game chat but we were all on vent, explaining our relative silence. stay tuned for part 2, as well as badlands and badwater.

Rudyard Kipling " A Smuggler's Song" Poem animation vernacular Heres a virtual movie of the great Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936) reading his much loved poem/song " A Smuggler's Song" . The poem is read in a West of England vernacular possibly suggestive of the Cornish accent . Joseph Rudyard Kipling (30 December 1865 18 January 1936) was an English author and poet. He is regarded as a major "innovator in the art of the short story"; his children's books are enduring classics of children's literature; and his best works speak to a versatile and luminous narrative gift. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in English, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Traditional Mass in the Vernacular: Yes? NO! Maybe so.... This video was done at the prompting of a viewer, and discusses the possibility of using the Old rite of mass in the vernacular. I think its an excellent question. To be precise, the question was something to the effect of: "How would you feel if the old mass was in the vernacular as well as Latin? Is this something you think the Church could ever consider?" This video was done at the prompting of a viewer, and discusses the possibility of using the Old rite of mass in the vernacular. I think its an excellent question. To be precise, the question was something to the effect of: "How would you feel if the old mass was in the vernacular as well as Latin? Is this something you think the Church could ever consider?" This video references the council of Trent, and debunks the Extremist Idea that the Extraordinary form of mass can ONLY be said in Latin. Here I bring up the missal that was treated like a red-headed step child by the Vatican II's conciluim (the committee to make the new mass) the-not-so-well-known, 1965 missal. It was rejected by the concilium for being too Catholic, or, not being (for lack of better word) protestant enough... and then they proceeded to Protestantise the mass more and more until it became the 1969 Pauline MIssal - the Novus Ordo. The 1965 missal was basically the old rite (1962) with most of it said in the vernacular (with the exception of the canon and some of the ordinary). So my answer is to RickstRraw is Yes, in theory the Church can approve ...
