Two Versions of the New Testament In the early days of Christianity there were two versions of the epistles of Paul. The long version (which can be found in ordinary bibles) and the short version (which was considered heretical). The hateful, homophobic and misogynistic passages that can be found in the mainstream version of the epistles of Paul were absent from the short version. There is also evidence that these passages are fraudulent insertions, and that the short version of the epistles was the original version. Here is a sample passage from the short edition of Romans, compare it with Romans 1:16-2:5 I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to all who believe, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning and ending in faith. Wrath from heaven is also revealed, on all impiety and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth. Minor correction - the root meaning of the Greek word κατεχοντων is better described as hold captive, this of-course implies that the thing or person being held captive is in the possession of the captor. It is rare for this Greek word to be applied metaphorically to something with is not in someones possession. In hindsight I could have explained this more clearly, but it makes no difference to the strength of the argument. The editor mistakenly thought that the unrighteous must in some sense possess the truth ...
