  • Moths, Radar and Bats: Mutations, REALLY? Quotes by Evolutionary Scientists Against Evolution - Moths Fool Bats 2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. When one thinks of clever creatures, moths are probably not the first creature that come to mind in fact, they probably dont come to mind at all! Researchers at Wake Forest University raised some bats from infanthood in large cages. Their purpose was to carefully control the growing bats diets and study their responses to various prey. Among the prey offered were Tiger moths. In the caterpillar stage they eat plants which make them unpalatable even as moths. As moths, when a bat is near, they emit a series of clicks. A bat will try to eat the moths only once, spitting out the foul-tasting insect almost immediately after biting it. When the bats were offered a different but equally foul-tasting species of Tiger moth, a few of the bats tried the new species despite their dont eat me clicking sounds. They quickly learned to avoid the new species as well. Researchers also offered the bats tasty Milkweed Tussock moths. While tasty, these moths click like the tiger moths when approached by a bat. Three of ten bats tried these moths, but the other seven wouldnt touch them. These tasty moths managed to fool most of the bats into thinking that they were the unpalatable Tiger moths. • Run for your Life - Cambodia July 1997 A historic report filmed during CPP party leader Hun Sen's takeover of Cambodia. Our camera follows officials of Prince Ranariddh's Funcinpec party as they are secretly smuggled out of the country. After a dash to the airport by car, Funcinpec Head of Security Hong Dar waits nervously as his false papers are checked by airport officials. Like many others denied assistance by foreign embassies in Cambodia's latest crisis, this is his only way out, convinced he'll be tortured and assassinated if he stays. Another fleeing Funcinpec official, his face disguised, tells how Hun Sen's soldiers came to his house and shot his wife. He too is smuggled out the same way. Surrounded by security guards, Hun Sen states he has "no regrets" in using force to oust rival Prince Ranariddh. Press reporters asking unpalatable questions are quickly shoved out of the crowd. Senior Funcinpec member Ung Huot admits Hun Sen approved his appointment as new First Premier. He promises free elections despite suspicions he's merely a puppet of the CPP. Can Kim lost two children when a shell hit her home. Her youngest child, still wounded, strokes her mother's face as she weeps. Human Rights Lawyer Brad Adams says Funcinpec fears are well founded. • Alex Bellos introduces Alex's Adventures in Numberland A hugely enjoyable, brilliantly researched explanation of the basic principles of maths. In this richly entertaining and accessible book, Alex Bellos explodes the myth that maths is best left to the geeks. Covering subjects from adding to algebra, from set theory to statistics, and from logarithms to logical paradoxes, he explains how mathematical ideas underpin just about everything in our lives. Alex explains the surprising geometry of the 50p piece, and the strategy of how best to gamble it in a casino. He shines a light on the mathematical patterns in nature, and on the peculiar predictability of random behaviour. He eats a potato crisp whose revolutionary shape was unpalatable to the ancient Greeks, and he shows the deep connections between maths, religion and philosophy. Alex weaves a journey from primary school to university level maths, from ancient history to the computing frontline, and from St Louis, Missouri, to Braintree, Es***. He meets the worlds fastest mental calculators in Germany, consults a numerologist in the US desert, meets a startlingly numerate chimpanzee in Japan, and seeks advice from a venerable Hindu sage in India. An unlikely but exhilarating ***tail of history, reportage and mathematical proofs, Alexs dispatches from Numberland show the world of maths to be a much friendlier and more colourful place than you might have imagined. http
  • Guitar: We Didn't Know (Including lyrics and chords) A plea for help with the chord progression for this song has led me to record this poignant protest song written by Tom Paxton over 40 years ago. The message is clear: Dont go looking for others to blame when it is we ourselves who are turning a blind eye to things which are done in our name. Sadly, despite the lessons of history (and in particular, recent history) we still let our politicians lead us into dubious wars and situations on the flimsiest of information and ignore the unpalatable truths that our own side may not be as squeaky clean as we would like to think!

  • Parapuja Stotram by Bhagavatpada Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya Make sure that you cannot be disturbed in any manner for 15 minutes, dim all light, silence all sounds and then start the video with full concentration from you for best impact. Worship of That One can be at three levels: sthula (gross/physical), sukhsma (subtle/mental) or para (transcendent of both physical and mental). Many of the saints of India who reached the last level reveal it by their behaviour, which are passed down the generations as anecdotes such as: 'wherever he kept his feet, a lingam appeared'. In the scriptures too, such stories are found regularly, example: Hanuman's answer to Rama's question: Who are you?; and the various hymns of the Srimad Bhagavatham, Bhagavad Gita and other texts. The essence of this hymn comes from the Upanishads directly. It is hard-hitting and unpalatable to most and therefore, little known and even less appreciated. The honesty in this hymn is considered as being incomprehensible to the common mind and heart. Such comprehension is, however, neither required nor surprising in its absence: very few amongst us can even hope to attain the concentration, resolution and purity essential for mental worship. However, it is sometimes useful to know that there is one more step. • Illegal Fishing - Japan July 2007 In Japan eating fish is a time honoured tradition, but has the nation with the seemingly insatiable appetite bitten off more than it can chew? The news that some favourites and delicacies are in danger of disappearing from the menu is unpalatable if not downright distasteful. Belatedly Japanese authorities have taken the bait. Reporter Shane McLeod joins the crew of the Shirasagi, patrolling the waters off Kobe where illegal fishing is rife and Japan's notorious gangsters, the yakuza, are making a killing. "When we board their ship some are violent especially people who are involved with organised crime groups - they are very dangerous", says Captain Masaaki Shimojyo. Yet these offenders are small fry compared to a heist on the high seas that's created an international scandal. Japanese trawlers plundered more than two hundred thousand tonnes of southern blue fin tuna worth in excess of ten billion dollars. Hagen Stehr one of Australia's most successful and high profile tuna fishermen and farmers says it could have wrecked the Australian tuna industry, "It is skulduggery, it is an international crime. It is fraudulent, it is straightout fraudulent." Japan's blue fin tuna quota has been slashed in half for the next five years. Now the battle is to persuade Japanese to eat farmed tuna. McLeod visits a tuna farm on the remote Japanese island of Amami where scientists claim to have pioneered and perfected the technology to breed tuna. Tokyo sushi master Katsumi ...
  • David Gur*** on Incentivizing Knowledge Management David Gur*** talks on how incentivizing knowledge management (KM) can kill intrinsic motivation and negatively affect the true value of the practice. He covers two aspects first, if one is not careful, rewards can make KM seem like something special, something additional, rather than a part of one's work. He goes on to explain that incentivizing KM can send the message of KM being unpalatable and hence the need to sprinkle some sweetener in the form of goodies. The second important point that David makes is that often times rewards push people to game the system, that is, they will cheat to get the reward. And David's final point is that people need to see the value (what's in it for them) if they are going to share knowledge - bribing or coercing isn't how one can or should be incentivizing knowledge sharing.

  • Israel's Vietnam - Lebanon Nov 1997 In a graveyard in Tel Aviv, a mother weeps as her soldier son is lowered into his grave. Like so many others he was killed in a Hizbollah attack. For the Jewish State, the defence of the so-called 'security zone' in south Lebanon has been its Vietnam, a thoroughly unpalatable battle in tune with military strategy but not public sentiment. "We no longer want to send our sons off to die in a meaningless war," is the word from typical families. In this report we take a rare look inside the security zone, assessing the possible outcomes should Israel pull out of Lebanon before reaching agreement with Syria over the Golan Heights. A premature withdrawal from Lebanon could well induce a frustrated Syria to crank-up the violence of Hizbollah. Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

  • Geert Wilders - Muslims have every right to complain But hear me out, Muslims I'm getting a lot of disapproving comments in this video. Typically by people who do not have the comprehension skills required to understand what I am really saying. I will clarify a few points: There are some people commenting here that claim I state my personal opinion of Geert Wilders. Let me summarise what I actually say about it: "BY ALL ACCOUNTS mr. Wilders is rather an unsavoury character" [etc] From the phrasing of this it should be clear that I am talking about opinions that OTHERS hold of Mr. Wilders. I am not discussing MY opinions of him or his movie. Toward the end of the video I phrase it this way: "We cannot take away from Geert Wilders the right to express his opinion no matter how nasty it is, how unpalatable it is and how unsavoury it is" For those of you who are a little bit slow in comprehension, that is equivalent to saying "whether GW's opinion is nasty, unpalatable or unsavoury or not, it doesn't change the fact that he has a right to express it". What MY opinion of GW and/or his movie is does not enter the equation AT ALL. This should also be clear from what I say later: "I can't comment on that [...] I don't know the man" And I clearly accept that I, MYSELF, am in NO position to state any opinion about GW and his movie. There are some people commenting here that berate me for making value statements about a movie I haven't seen. Apart from the fact that at no point do I express my OWN opinion, this movie was made over a ...

  • How To Cook Lizard Eggs In this video, I will show you how to find and eat the eggs of the Central Ohio Reticulated Lizard. The CORL is one of North America's most elusive reptile species, and finding an entire nest of its eggs is exceedingly rare. I've documented the process so that you can all share the beauty of this endangered, tasty creature and its eggs. The Central Ohio Reticulated Lizard's closest relative, taxologically speaking, is the Reticulated Collard Lizard (Crotaphytus Reticulatus) which is chiefly found in southern Texas. The Collard Lizard's eggs are bitter and generally unpalatable, but the specialized corn-based diet of the CORL engenders an egg with all the depth of flavor of roe (caviar), without the characteristic "stinky egg" smell of cooked chicken or duck eggs. Since there are only EXTREMELY limited numbers of this lizard, I have let my lawn grow longer and taller than usual, to encourage the local population to make it their home. Lucky for me, and for you, viewers, I chanced upon several of these eggs. The next time you are in central Ohio in the springtime, look around. If you see a bit of white popping out from an unmown tuft of grass, you too may experience the deliciosity that is the Central Ohio Reticulated Lizard Egg. And, in case you actually read this description, you should know that in addition to making these videos, I make DAILY comics at . They are awesome. I'm not even going to lie.

  • Adultery trading This started out as an entry to the Davos Question, but I thought the focus was too narrow and the "answer" to the question way too unpalatable for mass consumption, not to mention far too preachy. But I'd spent some time on the animation, so it's now a general rant against Emissions Trading. No doubt there are some holes in the logic, and this is, by necessity, a one-sided view. However, I believe it is significant that we're emitting just as many greenhouse gases as before, but we're trading more and more every year. That means we're simply juggling the figures: at some point, we'll run out of pollution credits and have to decide whether to break the agreement, or shut down a lot of our industry overnight.
