Short Strand area in east Belfast Short Strand The Short Strand (Irish an Trá Ghearr) is a mainly-nationalist area in east Belfast, surrounded by a mainly-unionist area. It is within the townland of Ballymacarret (Irish: Baile Mhic Gearóid) and sits on the east bank of the River Lagan in County Down. Rioting between neighbouring loyalist and republican factions has been a feature of the area's recent past. The introduction of CCTV in the area, and in other similar places in the city, has had a positive effect with a drastic reduction in incidents there, and throughout Belfast. The neighbouring districts are unionist areas to the east and to the south, the area to the north is an industrial area and to the west is the River Lagan spanned by the Albert Bridge and leading to the Nationalist/Republican Markets area. There is currently a peace line on its southern edge, separating unionist Cluan Place and nationalist Madrid Street. On Mountpottinger Road, which traverses it, there was a police station with fortifications made necessary during the Troubles because of bomb and gun attacks against security force members from Republican paramilitaries. These barriers dated from the days of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. The police station was closed in 2010, and demolished in February 2011.

It's NOT a Conspiracy Theory! Obama EO 13575 Rural Councils aka UN AGENDA 21! PEOPLE WAKE UP! It's NOT a Conspiracy Theory! On June 9, 2011, ILLEGAL Usurper Communist President Barry Soetero issued a sweeping executive order for a White House Rural Council that purports to exert broad municipal powers over the food, fiber, and energy production of Rural American. This is the implementation of Agenda 21, this is no joke, and this is very real, and if you still haven't realized yet how serious this is, you will soon will if you haven't already. Please Americans, your neighbours to the North are praying for you to resist this tyranny by coming to Christ Jesus, to speak out and stand up NOW and STOP CARING ABOUT YOU (Generation "ME") which the Rockefellers have programmed into our minds for the last 60 years AND START CARING ABOUT EACH OTHER LIKE A REAL FAMILY OF GOD before it's too late and more souls are lost than needed to be because of our indoctrinated selfishness! Do you not SEE that the PERSECUTION that has begun underneath your noses much less that it's already here? Glasgow & West - Wednesday, August 10, 2011 Strength in numbers - hundreds of Scottish Police now join the riot squads tackling violence and looting on England's streets. In other news: twenty two passengers had a lucky escape this morning after a bus crashed into a fence at Glasgow Airport; twelve months after his death, former trade-unionist Jimmy Reid has today had a new think tank created in his name; and in sport, Celtic could miss out on the signing of Polish keeper Grzegorz Sandiomierski after his club told STV News they are close to agreeing a transfer fee with Genk for the 21 year old. This is an international version that may have been edited for rights reasons.

The Truth Is No Longer A Secret First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for Julia Davis, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't Julia Davis. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. http Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Aussie Trades Unionist Exposes 9/11 Cover-up Listen to an overbearing gatekeeper, Jon Faine, attempt to rubbish the genuine concerns of an Australian trades unionist, Kevin Bracken, in an attempt to stifle any debate about the many anomalies in the official 9/11 story. Seldom have I heard anyone, who obviously wants the issue to go away, do more to attract attention to it. He did this during a phone-in on the publicly-owned Australian Broadcasting Commission's 774 ABC Melbourne radio station. A small amount of sound editing was necessary, but the integrity of the conversation was retained. The unedited sound file of the conversation can be found on this Internet page. .au The following web page has more background. Trades Hall president Kevin Bracken stands by his 9/11 conspiracy .au

Unionist View of Scottish Independence According to the Unionist Media? A report from the Unionist BBC Newsnight asking what an Independent Scotland would look like. Everyone in this report is obviously a pessimistic unionist, most of all the former Provost of Glasgow, Michael Kelly who at the end of the report LAUGHS at the idea of Scotland and Scots governing themselves! Absolute disgrace!

George Galloway on Queen's visit to Ireland From BBC News: This visit will stand alongside any that the Queen has made during her reign in terms of its significance. In word and deed she has made a difference. She has said and done things in the past four days which have impressed all but the most extreme Irish republicans, whilst at the same time retaining the dignity of her position as Britain's head of state. Ireland has waited so long for this visit. By any logical measure, it is nothing less than absurd that it has not been possible, until now, for Britain's Queen to visit the territory of Britain's closest neighbour. But that is to ignore what the Queen described as the "complexity" of our history, the terrible burden left by centuries of turbulence and bloodshed. Those memories neither can nor should ever be erased, but the worst of the poison can be drawn from them, and that is what has surely happened this week. Buckingham Palace and the British government clearly felt that the Queen needed to make a very obvious declaration that Ireland's struggle to break free from the British crown had been legitimate and - more than that - that there were aspects of British rule in Ireland that had been wrong. George Galloway comments on the Queen's visit to Ireland, the first monarch to visit the country for 100 years.

Stand Up for Sasha McCoy! Mother, Student, Starbucks Barista, IWW Unionist. 8/14/11 (TURN IT UP TO VIEW - We apologize for some sound issues in the video, we're not professional videographers but just working people, and the store was very loud) Sasha McCoy has worked for Starbucks for the past four years, in that time she's given birth to two lovely little girls and been attending school full time as a BS in Biology major. A year ago, Sasha and her coworkers at the 15th/Douglas store in Omaha, NE joined the IWW Starbucks Workers Union. Starbucks is now targeting Sasha for her union involvement by demanding more of her availability (what hours she can give to Starbucks during the week) than they've ever asked of her. We feel the reason they picked this issue is because Starbucks is grasping at straws. Baristas in the union know they must know company policy inside and out, know every drink - and make it correctly, and handle their registers carefully - this insures our employment while publicly pushing for a better life on the job through organizing with the union. Since Sasha is an excellent worker and does not violate any of these policies they have picked someone mundane and ridiculous to attempt to fire her. More information will be coming soon on this struggle. Feel free to call the Starbucks customer complaint line at 1-800-Starbuc (800-782-7282) to express your support for this brave woman. Please watch and forward widely. We expected a large number of negative comments to be posted below, as is the usual, and we'll do what we can to delete them ...

Northern Ireland riots continue at disputed parade BELFAST, Northern Ireland — Police fired plastic bullets and water cannon amid sectarian riots overnight in Belfast, Northern Ireland's provincial capital, following parades by pro-British unionists. Sporadic rioting in predominantly nationalist Catholic neighbourhoods of the British-ruled province on Tuesday night came on the eve of the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne, a date unionists celebrate with parades which are considered provocative by nationalists, who favour a united Ireland. Around 200 people threw rocks, firecrackers and petrol bombs in the Ardoyne area of Belfast after police moved in to prevent them confronting the passing Orange Order parade on the disputed Crumlin Road. Two cars were set on fire and dozens of rounds of plastic bullets were fired and police said a number of officers were injured. Most of the 500 or so parades across the province passed peacefully, but police reported rioting in Londonderry, known as Derry by nationalists, Newry and Armagh, as well as the Markets area in central Belfast. A small Orange Order parade passed the Ardoyne estate in near silence with one drummer keeping time after a government commission ordered marchers not to play their traditional drums or flutes on "The Twelth". A few dozen residents held a silent protest as they passed, while a small group of women sang the Irish national anthem. But hundreds of others were pinned by police vans and officers in riot gear into an estate a hundred ...

'BBC treatment of employees inhumane' BBC employment practices are inhumane as the government-funded company has laid off six journalists because of a compulsory redundancy issue, says a British unionist. An interview with Sue Harris, National Union of Journalists (NUJ), from London

Free Derry corner tribute Derry is a city which has been under foreign occupation for over 400 years. In 1921, despite the democratically expressed will of the vast majority of the Irish people for independence, the British government and Unionist minority forced partition on the county. Derry, a majority Nationalist city, was included in the illegitimate Northern Ireland statelet. Not content with their new gerrymandered state, the Ulster Unionist Party then gerrymandered Derry City's political boundaries to keep its council in the hands of the Unionist minority. Derry Nationalists were forced to live in appalling conditions for the next 50 years. Under complete Unionist domination, they were denied votes, housing, jobs, and civic services. In an effort to redress this Nationalists across the North began to peacefully organise themselves under the banner of Civil Rights. The regime in Stormont refused to even consider their demands. In Derry, Civil Rights demonstrators were repeatedly bludgeoned off the streets by the Royal Ulster Constabulary. In 1969, after an Apprentice Boys of Derry march, Loyalists and the RUC attacked the Bogside and Creggan. The residents of these areas came out in force to defend their districts. Armed with only with bricks and molotov ***tails they fought the Police and Loyalist mobs for 3 days, successfully expelling them. They then build barricades to keep them out. Free Derry was born. Across Ireland and the world Free Derry corner came to symbolise both the physical ...

UK Supreme Court - Justice and the Law UK SUPREME COURT The unionists say a UK Supreme Court is necessary to provide a final court of appeal across the UK and to relieve the pressure of human rights cases on the European Court of Human Rights, and to handle matters of constitutional significance. Decoded The unionists set up the UK Supreme Court to keep the devolved Parliament of Scotland and the Assemblies of Wales and Northern Ireland in line, and to control any attempts by Scotland to secure independence by asserting the right of the Supreme Court to rule on constitutional matters, regardless of the law of Scotland and the Act of Union. A secondary motive was a deep distrust of our European partners and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION The unionists claim that the SNP government was elected by a minority of Scots, given the share of the vote in relation to the percentage of the electorate voting. They also argue that Alex Salmond and the SNP will abuse their mandate by riding roughshod over the unionist opposition. Decoded The Scottish voting system, with the d'Hondt method of proportional representation, was deliberately set up to ensure that the Scottish Government would be ineffectual because no one party would have an overall majority, especially the SNP. Remember, this was set up by a Government elected by the first-past-the-post system, and is now supported by another Coalition government who mounted a successful vitriolic campaign to defend the ...

The DUP's Forgotten Past There is a double standard when the media reflects on the past. People forget the armed unionist paramilitary groups, such as Ulster Protestant Volunteers or Ulster Resistance, which were established by the Paisley and his DUP comrades. People forget his incitement to violence that held any prospect of peace for many years - it must be remebered that all sides played a role.

Why the SNP won in 2011 - and why the unionist parties lost A fascinating ***ysis, and one we must study closely. The electorate liked the SNP and the SNP team, and regarded them as competent to run Scotland under the present constitutional settlement. Now we must extend that perception into a recognition that an independent Scotland can be run even more effectively by Scotland Party - the SNP, and only a decisive referendum vote by the Scottish electorate - and by them alone - will deliver that.

Alex Salmond exposes hypocrisy by the 3 UK parties on NHS on QT The Three UK Stooges - Gray,Goldie and Scott - in Scotland got agitated about the First Minister appearing on 'Question Time', and two of the Labour Party's press mouthpieces, 'The Record' and 'The Herald', were clearly unhappy too. Well, they had good reason to be worried - Alex Salmond cleaned the floor with Peter Hain (Labour), Chris Huhne (LibDem) and Michael Howard (Tory) - on the NHS and on the Libya/Megrahi/Gadaffii/Moussa Koussa issues. He received a rapturous reception from the Liverpool audience, who recognised straight talking from a politician when they heard it for once. Alex Salmond, with his characteristic good humour, also gave insights on the AV referendum and the Cable/Cameron spat over immigration. Hain, Huhne and Howard - The Three UK Hs - are high up in the power structures of their unionist respective parties, and they were feeble in their responses, and squabbled amongst each other embarrassingly. (Scotland has their three unionist puppets to contend with, who have infinitely less ability.) God help England! People of England - you need your own Parliament for your great nation to recover its self-respect and hold its head up again in the world and speak its name proudly, as Scots do. But Scotland has a choice on May 5th. Vote for your ain folk, Scots - and vote for the man who towered over these UK politicians last night - a statesman with only Scotland's interests at heart.

When Do You Speak Out? The intro is the great Joseph N. Welch, during the Army-McCarthy hearings. In one famous exchange, McCarthy responded to aggressive questioning from the Army's attorney, Joseph Welch. On June 9, 1954, the 30th day of the hearings, Welch challenged Roy Cohn to give the US Attorney General McCarthy's list of 130 Communists or subversives in defense plants "before the sun goes down." McCarthy responded by saying that if Welch was so concerned about persons aiding the Communist Party, he should check on a man in his Boston law office named Fred Fisher Welch responded: "Until this moment, Senator, I think I never gauged your cruelty or recklessness...." When McCarthy resumed his attack, Welch cut him short: "Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator.... You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?" The gallery proceeded to applaud. ________________________________________ First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Northern Ireland: A slow peace-The Big Story-08-10-2011 Northern Ireland was supposed to be the success story of the peace movement. After hundreds of years of Republican struggles to separate themselves from Westminster and the Unionist fight to keep Ireland British, the Stormont Agreement was hailed as a political breakthrough. Flash forward a decade and the peace process is fraying at the edges. Northern Ireland witnessed the worst outbreak of violence since the signing of the Stormont Agreement. In the first round of violence a press photographer was shot in the leg by assailants unknown with later outbreaks of unrest taking residents back to the darkest times of the Troubles. The Big Story team travels to Belfast, the scene of some of the most worrying violence in recent memory and speaks to people at the heart of the issue.

George Galloway speaks to 2 nutters on Irish independence See also: This one says it all. George Galloway speaks to two morons who have little grasp in the history of Irish independence from the United Kingdom. The first caller is the Unionist loving knuckle dragger and displays his Unionist views so candidly. The problems in Ireland started in the 16th and 17th century when the country was taken by the British crown and was colonised by English and Scottish settlers. He asks what is Orange Terror means THREE times and still thought Galloway was talking about the Orange Order. The second is just one of them ignorant people who defended the first caller and asks Galloway why he is such a firm supporter of the Irish independence thing. Galloway gives both a right beating by displaying his wealth of knowledge on the history of Ireland. The conversation with the first caller remains one of the most explosive debates to date, and is reminiscent of the above link in which Galloway argued with a Unionist and a Nationalist caller. Originally broadcasted on 20th May 2011.

BBC Newsnight - Nicola Sturgeon on Scottish Independence BBC Newsnight - 11th May 2011. A rude and pessimistic Jeremy Paxman asks the Deputy First Minister of Scotland, SNP's Nicola Sturgeon what would happen in an independent Scotland and then countless times interupts her. Typical attitude from the unionist media.
