Dementia (taken from latin, originally meaning "madness", from de- "without" + ment, the root of mens "mind") is a serious loss of cognitive ability in a previously unimpaired person, beyond what might be expected from normal aging. It may be static, the result of a unique global brain injury, or progressive, resulting in long-term decline due to damage or disease in the body. Although dementia is far more common in the geriatric population, it may occur in any stage of adulthood. Dementia is not merely a problem of memory. It reduces the ability to learn, reason, retain or recall past experience and there is also loss of patterns of thoughts, feelings and activities . Additional mental and behavioral problems often affect people who have dementia, and may influence quality of life, caregivers, and the need for institutionalization. As dementia worsens individuals may neglect themselves and may become disinhibited, the individual may become incontinent as their condition worsens . Depression affects 20--30% of people who have dementia, and about 20% have anxiety. Psychosis (often delusions of persecution) and agitation/aggression also often accompany dementia. Each of these needs to be assessed and treated independent of the underlying dementia.

Trembling Blue Stars - Idyllwild I was looking for this song on YouTube a few days ago and couldn't find it. I wasn't content with leaving it at that. Ergo: This video I made. A recording of the song, quickly thrown together with slowed footage from Kurasawa's "The Blizzard." The track is from the group's 2007 LP, "The Last Holy Writer" (Elefant Records) — Enjoy. Lyrics: A song on the radio Makes you shiver And want to curl into a ball Makes you want to be Seven*** And forget the future's shrinking Life was so open then Now it's closing in Life was wide open then Now it's closing in One by one We've watched our dreams Disappearing Two girls against the world Summer nights warm and long Sleeping all day So many songs The shadow cast by long ago Puts a lump within your throat A girl whose favourite thing is snow Snow and being alone The ocean between us can't Take away the past The ocean between us won't Take away the past There's a place all we shared Shines unimpaired Time flies Swift as an arrow The dagger of never trodden paths Photographs they break my heart Ambushed by the thought— I dont recognize her! I miss you! I miss her! Life was so open then Now it's closing in Life was wide open then Now it's closing in One by one We've watched our dreams Disappearing But the ocean between us can't Take away the past The ocean between us won't Take away the past There's a place all we shared Shines unimpaired

Jim Rogers - A Holocaust is Coming For the latest Jim Rogers, go to - The economic stabilization plans are absurd. The planners like Bernanke and Paulson have been dead wrong every single time. Why would you listen to them? Japanese Yen and Swiss Francs are most certainly better than dollars. Not a good idea to buy equities. Those are not going to come out on top. You want to buy things where the fundamentals are unimpaired. Most equities have impaired fundamentals. Commodities are the asset with the strongest fundamentals. It is absurd that average people had to bail out young guys on Wall Street who are driving sports cars. They were incompetent at best and criminals at worst. We had the worst excesses in the credit market in world history. We are going to have to take some pain. Never before in world history could people buy houses with no money down. It is time to be more realistic. It would be nice if the G20 leaders would leave us alone and just have a beer rather than holding more meetings. Eventually the bond markets will collapse. These guys are engineering an inflationary holocaust because they don't know what else to do. People need to save money and keep their powder dry to look for opportunities. When you print gigantic amounts of money and flood the world with money, that has historically led to inflation. Right now everything is being deleveraged, but that is temporary and the inflation will show up.

Narcissist: Legally Insane? The narcissist often has rage attacks and grandiose fantasies. Most narcissists are also mildly obsessive-compulsive. Yet, all narcissists should be held accountable to the vast and overwhelming majority of their actions. At all times, even during the worst explosive episode, the narcissist can tell right from wrong and reign in their impulses. The narcissist's impulse control is unimpaired, though he may pretend otherwise in order to terrorize, manipulate and coerce his human environment into compliance. Jim Rogers - Friedman's Wife Knows More Than Bernanke For the latest Jim Rogers, go to - You may call it deflation. The stock market has been going down, but that is just deflation in the stock market. All the money being created it going to lead to problems in the long run. Why did AIG get bought by the government if they weren't bankrupt. If the world ends, then commodities would be a great asset to hold. Paulson and Bernanke should resign. The Federal Reserve should be abolished. Even Milton Friedman's wife wrote a critical article about how Bernanke is doing the wrong thing. The only thing that has worked is to let the incompetent fail. What happened in the 1990s was that there was a huge liquidity problem. Friedman tried to tell the Federal Reserve what to do, but they did nothing. Most people in CNBC are not factually correct. They tell people to buy dot coms or all kinds of other risky assets that are about to go down. It's not a good time to sell your commodity stocks. The things that come out of this mess with their fundamentals unimpaired, are typically the assets that do the strongest.

They encompass universally accepted human rights such as freedom from hunger, the right to basic education, the right to health, and a responsibility to future generations. Now less than four years from the date of 2015 by which the Millennium Development Goals are to be achieved, it's time we made a difference.

UPDATE ON SOFT TISSUE INJURIES - some of the most serious of all injuries Soft tissue injuries include injuries to structures other than the osseous, bony structures. The brain, spinal cord, nerves, heart, liver, are ALL SOFT TISSUES. If you had a spear go through the side of your head and penetrate your cerebral cortex , that would be a "soft tissue injury". Also, a fracture, uncomplicated , on a person with an unimpaired healing rate, would take around six (6) weeks. The most minimal of sprain take around 120 days (four months). Mr. Christopher Reeve, sustained a "soft tissue injury" to the central nervous system, and that injury did not heal and was not "self limiting". So, if an attorney or insurance company tries to dismiss your injuries as "soft tissue injuries" , remind them that soft tissue injuries are probably the most serious injuries known to man.

'Made in Japan' by Josef Hoflehner Josef Hoflehner was born in 1955 in Wels, Austria, when the country was still under allied occupation. He grew up in a family where the camera was used so rarely that as many as three Christmas holidays would be captured on one roll of film. Although Austria could boast awesome mountains and a great natural landscape, it had no coastlines, deserts or empty spaces where one could see the horizon unimpaired. At the age of 20, Hoflehner purchased a camera and began to travel. An early award for photography began to open doors professionally and his career has continued to develop with amazing success. Each of Hoflehner's photographs achieves a perfection of composition that seems to defy the possibility that it could ever be seen any other way. Gripping in their ultimate solitude and the unexpected natural beauty they capture, Hoflehner's photographs take his earthly subject matter to raise it to an almost mythical level, defining the essence of the place. In these rare and elusive moments, the natural and the man made are brought together in a poetic interplay of light and shadow, emptiness and structure. Through his images, we are moved to a new level of observation and exposed to a world where the chance and an underlying natural order coexist with our own built environment. Hoflehner's exquisite silver gelatin prints are found in a constantly growing number of public, private and corporate collections around the globe; notable collections include Polo Ralph Lauren ...

Don Bennett - Euphoria An underground legend in Chicago, Don Bennett has never gotten the recognition he deserves as a pianist and a talent scout. He started piano lessons when he was four and was part of the Chicago jazz scene by the late '50s, inspired by Ahmad Jamal, whom he used to see on a nightly basis. In the 1960s, Bennett moved to Los Angeles, studied with Phineas Newborn, and worked on the local scene with Harold Land, Carmell Jones and Curtis Amy, among others. He cut an album with Amy in the late '60s and led a trio date after returning to Chicago, but neither have ever been released. In 1978, he quit music altogether, working at a variety of day jobs (including as a private investigator) for ten years. In 1988, Bennett returned to jazz with his talents unimpaired. He spent time living in New York and then moved to Holland in 1993. Bennett cut a CD in Chicago in 1990 for the Southport label, which was later reissued by Candid. In addition to such fine players as trumpeter Arthur Hoyle and tenor saxophonist Ed Peterson, Bennett featured the young unknown Art Porter (on alto and soprano) on the bop-oriented material, which included five of the leader's originals. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide

Thomas Cranmer's Final Speech, Before Burning Thomas Cranmer's Final Speech, Before Burning Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556) - Archbishop of Canterbury and author of the Book of Common Prayer of 1549. Thomas Cranmer was born in Nottinghamshire on July 2, 1489, the son of Thomas Cranmer Senior and his wife, Agnes (Hatfield). He was educated at Cambridge from the age of four*** and, in 1530, became Archdeacon of Taunton. The course which he advocated with regard to the divorce of Queen Catherine brought him into favor with King Henry VIII and, in 1533, he was appointed Archbishop of Canterbury. The servility with which Cranmer lent himself to the accomplishment of Henry's lawless desires, the timidity which made him acquiesce in deeds of tyranny and violence, from which his conscience revolted, remain as a blot on his memory. Yet, it was in great measure due to him that the English Church emerged from the fierce ordeal retaining, unimpaired, her ancient Faith and Apostolic succession. The Book of Common Prayer is the lasting memorial of the religious spirit of that time, and Cranmer is entitled to the fullest share of praise for the wisdom which guided its compilation. The Sarum Use, which had acquired a dominant position in the English Church in medieval times, was retained, with certain alterations, as the groundwork of the book, and this was enriched by contributions from very varied sources. The first Prayer Book appeared in 1549. Under the stress of foreign influences, it was subjected to certain alterations in 1552 ...
