Elizabeth Warren - The Two Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers Are Going Broke Elizabeth Warren discusses how the dreams of the middle class american family are being depleted by the dramatic increase in bankruptcies and foreclosures. Warren discusses the role that credit card companies and ballooning interests rates have played in rapidly increasing mortgage rates as well as the how the over consumption myth is clouding our understanding of the average middle class family, who is in fact experiencing a lower standard of living than their parents and still finding themselves one payment away from losing their home. Elizabeth Warren is the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and chaired the Congressional Oversight Panel created to investigate the US banking bailout . This program originally aired in April 2004. it is being re-aired because Professor Warren's predictions of economic disasters and the reasons for them have proven correct, and she is a candidate to head a commission to guard against recurrence. 2010 and Nothing has changed Well here we are in the beginning of 2010 and really nothing has changed, in fact I would argue that despite what we hear from the MSM the situation has deteriorated further. Here is a brief discussion of some important stuff and a few links about things you should notice. And the last one in the list is one I didn't talk about....but the Govt. took a majority stake in failing GMAC...more tax payer subsidy on tap! Seems to me that it's starting to look a lot like bottomless pit here. If you follow zerohedge you will not be looking at anything new...cheers. Is the Govt underrepresenting unemployment? Fannie / Freddie blank check The tax payers now own GMAC
Accounting for Subsidy Agencies with OnCare Office v1.4 Subsidy Agency accounting can be difficult when its necessary to identify the specific charges associated Agency outstanding balances. OnCare Office v1.4 now provides you with the tools to track individual charges and payments by Agency and Family. This is accomplished with the use of the Agency Special Batch Payment/Adjustment/Transfer page. This page ensures accurate postings in OnCare Offices ledger; without over-representing or under-representing the Agency payment. Charges which havent been paid in full by the Agency are easily visible so you can more efficiently follow-up with the Agencies that still owe money. The Agency Payment/Adjustment/Transfer page also makes it easy to transfer responsibility all or part of the Agency charge to the families sponsor ledger. If the family isnt responsible for the outstanding amount, adjusting the balance down can occur with a single entry. All this in OnCare Office v 1.4 will make your Agency collections process more efficient, so more resources can be invested back into the students development.

Out Door Wood Boilers Outdoor Wood Boilers Are Big polluters. A study by Northeast States Coordinated Air Management (NESCAUM) in 2008 found the EPA test methods for OWBs may under represent real world emissions by a factor of 4. 1 OWB = 3000 - 8000 gas furnaces in pollution (Ct. DEP website). Wood smoke is filled w/dangerous fine particulates (PM 2.5). We all deserve to breath clean air. OWBs are not allowed in the State of Washington. In NYS Gov Paterson is doing nothing to stop this kind of pollution. NYS DEC staff estimate 40000 owb's. It is estimated that by 2010 OWBs could contribute almost 900000 tons of particulate matter. If you're concerned about Clean Air write Gov. Paterson, State Capitol, Albany, NY 12224 and tell him to ban all OWBs. We want the same air rights as citizens of the State of Washington. Why is NYS 20 years behind the times?

BC Wildfires: BCAA advice to homeowners A hazy, ethereal sunrise reminds BC residents of the wildfires currently burning around the province. As a homeowner, what should you do if you are put on evacuation notice? Brooke Moss, Home Insurance Product Manager at BCAA shares some important steps homeowners can follow when threatened by a wild fire. Brooke Moss: The first thing to do when put on evacuation is to contact your insurance agent and have a discussion about exactly what your policy covers. Most people will just renew their insurance year after year and haven't really talked to anybody in a long time, and it's really important to understand exactly what type of coverage you have, so you will know how to make a claim. And then of course, if you need to get emergency funds, or to make a claim for any damage, you always want to contact the insurance company right away. And most companies have a 24 hour emergency claims line. And at that point through that discussion, they will be able to tell you exactly what type of coverage you have, and what the process is for making that claim and getting things back in order. Often times it's the process that people are unaware of, and really helping to understand what that is, will help make it a lot easier. If you are on evacuation alert you really have to be prepared to leave at any moment. What you want to do is move your valuables and irreplaceable items to either a safe location if you have a safe; maybe you have a lockbox somewhere else, or have them ready so you ...
Use Qualitative Data to Understand Quantitative Data Dr. Ken Beatty, TESOL Professor at Anaheim University, discusses the need to complement quantitative data with qualitative data. The presentation features two extended examples of how relying on quantitative data alone can under-represent or misrepresent the real context. The presentation was originally prepared for EDU 590, Research Methods in Language Learning, which Dr. Beatty co-taught with Professor David Nunan. Boardgame Design Google Tech Talk December 1, 2009 ABSTRACT Presented by Peter Struijf. Peter Struijf is the designer and publisher of the innovative 4-player boardgame Krakow 1325 AD (2008). The game has two highly novel elements. Firstly, the "game engine" is a trick-taking card game (using special cards). Secondly, each player is a member of a two-player team, but has a secret Identity and plays to become the sole winner through a second scoring mechanism. The game has sold over 1200 copies to date and was awarded for the main Boardgame Award in the Netherlands. Peter will give a 30-minute presentation about his three-year long creative journey, covering the inspiration for and origins of the game, its test and development process, and how the artwork and "story" of the boardgame were merged into one single product. There will be space for questions and discussion afterwards.
