Me and Tussock - Our Journey Firsty, dont critise my riding . No , i may not do everything right all the time . But no one does . This is just a video (as requested) of the journey that me and tussock have been on from the beginning until now and how much she/we have improved :) The video at the end of tussock jumping was our first sj competition (or first competition with show jumping in it!! and it was only 2 weekends ago (31/3/08) She was doing training height (95cm) which i wasn't happy about -- i didn't want her to have her first competition at that height but the other people in my team only wanted to do the smaller heights . In our other round we got eliminated (she did try .. she wasn't used to all the sharp turns) but i was really happy with her ... in the practise jump photos she is jumping 1.05m and she is clearing it by miles so she is a bloody good jumper for her size!! But i was very happy with her .. even after we got eliminated hope you like it ... feel free to comment

White-marked Tussock moth cocoons on the UL Lafayette campus This video clip documents the day after an outbreak of caterpillars of the white-marked tussock moth (***ia leucostigma JE Smith), a moth in the family Lymantriidae, on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Campus. . That night, caterpillars spun cocoons between the narrow separations of bricks in a brick wall. The larvae are brightly colored, with tufts of hair-like setae. The head is bright red, the body has yellow or white stripes, with a prominent black median dorsal stripe. Bright red defensive glands are readily visible on the hind end of the back, as well as four white toothbrush-like tufts. Touching the hairs will set off an allergic skin reaction in many humans. Eggs hatch in the spring, usually April in Louisiana. Larvae are solitary feeders and consume whole leaves. They become fully grown in five to six weeks. In the South, the white-marked tussock moth occasionally occurs in epidemic numbers and may heavily defoliate live oak trees. Trees are seldom killed, but growth loss does occur. The caterpillars may feed on the live oaks that are common near Cypress Lake on the campus of UL Lafayette. Some insects are shown wiggling to prepare for the formation of their cocoon. The round galls on the live oak tree were induced by a small wasp, Disholcaspis cinerosa. Other wasp species induced the clusters of woody twig galls. In the South, the white-marked tussock moth occasionally occurs in epidemic numbers (as shown here on April 26) and heavily defoliates several species of hardwood, primarily live oak, water oak, red oak, and white oak. Trees are seldom killed, but growth loss does occur. The caterpillars may feed on the live oaks that are common near Cypress Lake on the campus of UL Lafayette. The insects appeared unusually active, with some of them seen wiggling to prepare for the formation of their cocoon. Because of the windy day, some individuals were struggling to prevent from falling onto the ground. Filmed and edited by Suzanne Fredericq on April 26, 2010

Tussock Moth Caterpillars Nature Walks with Mark Fraser I think that Tussock Moth Caterpillars are like jewels of the natural world! They have colors that are stunning examples of the true "art" that you can find within nature. There are many varieties of Tussock Moth Caterpillars and 3 of my favorites are shown in this film. Some species like the Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillars are particular eaters and focus their attention towards Milkweed and Dogbane plants. The White-Marked Tussock Moth Caterpillars will actually feed on many different species and is not picky at all. Many types feed on or near similar plants you can often find a Banded Tussock Moth Caterpillar feeding on a dogbane near Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillars. Some species like the Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillar are toxic to predators due to the plants they ingest while others like the White-Sided Tussock Moth Caterpillar, actually have the ability to cause a serious skin rash when handled so do not pick them up! Simply admire these beautiful species by gazing at them as they forage on plant matter. I'm Mark Fraser and thanks for joining me on a Nature Walk. If you would like to view more adventures and read up about conservation efforts, please join me at
