  • Tsarevich Alexei Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarevich of Russia, Цесаревич Алексей Николаевич Poмaнoв, the only son of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsaritsa Alexandra was born on August 12, 1904 and was from the outset the pride and joy of his parents and their hope for the future. However, he was also found to be stricken with hemophilia which made them necessarily protective of him. Their efforts to shelter him however often made him more obsessed with taking risks, hence the mournful rhyme, "Alexei, Alexei, mustn't run and mustn't play, mustn't jump and mustn't climb, must be careful all the time". It was their efforts to deal with his illness that caused Rasputin to gain a foothold at court which proved so disastrous. He was a very kind and sympathetic child, always concerned with the feelings of others. Sadly, he was killed with the rest of his family in the brutal massacre of the Romanovs by the heartless Bolsheviks on July 17, 1918 at the age of only 13.

  • Alexei, the last Tsarevich of Russia To Alexei Romanov (1904-1918) The good may die young, but their courage never dies (*** share your thoughts with me :) ****) Playing in the background is "Star" by the Russian singer Vitas, the lyrics translates as follows: So many times I asked myself Why I was born into this world and grew up And why the clouds float and rains pour You shouldn't expect anything for yourself in this world I would fly up to the clouds but I have no wings That starlight lures me from afar But it's hard to reach the star though the goal is close at hand And I don't know if I'll have enough strength for the throw I'll wait just a little bit more And then will get ready for my journey Towards the Dream and Hope Dont burn out my star, just wait! How many paths do I have to go by? How many peaks should I conquer to find my own self? How long should I keep falling from the cliff? How many times should I start from the beginning and is there any sense to it? I'll wait just a little bit more And then will get ready for my journey Towards the Dream and Hope Dont burn out my star, just wait!
