  • Trolley Buses in Vancouver on Main Street Trolley buses in Vancouver are a common sight on Main Street, Broadway, Kingsway, Arbutus Street and elsewhere. For some reason on 41st Avenue even though it is equipped with the overhead wires or trolleys they are running regular diesel buses there and no trolley bus has been seen in months along this long and wide stretch. Increasingly, the trolley buses that run on Main Street are so called articulated trolley buses. They are shown in this video. When I was filming it the name didn't come to me so I called them something like buses with a joint. There are many different and descriptive names for this kind of bus. Articulated bus can be called by different English speaking people in different regions and countries the following names tandem bus, bendy bus, banana bus, slinky bus, caterpillar bus and accordion bus. Accordion bus is my choice out of all these names. I like trolley buses because they don't emit anything. They also have a sound which is kind of fun, as if they were huge mosquitos that are friendly and don't bite. In this video you will also see a regular bus painted in 40th anniversary of hockey in Vancouver colors which I think means 40th anniversary of the Canucks hockey team. Enjoy.

  • Trolley Buses on Victoria Drive in Vancouver BC, Canada The trolley buses on Victoria Drive in Vancouver are mostly articulated trolley buses, also called accordion trolley buses. They run from South Vancouver along Victoria Drive which turns into Commercial Street and from there they go all the way to downtown. This video shows many of these trolley buses and two of them support local sports teams, the Vancouver Canucks and the Vancouver WhiteCaps, by displaying "Go Canucks Go" and "Go WhiteCaps Go" on their front and side displays. Hockey fan and soccer fan signs on buses like these are fun and they are usually displayed alternately with the bus route name on the days the games take place. Towards the end of the video you'll see a regular bus on 41 Avenue which has trolley wires but no trolley buses run on it currently. Watch for palm trees during this regular bus ride. Going past palm trees in Vancouver BC is becoming not that unusual. Enjoy.
  • 2010 Dayton Trolley Bus Tour After hiding in storage for more than a decade, BBC 110 undergoes restoration, and once again makes an appearance on the streets of Dayton. We cruise along Salem Avenue following route #8 to the Northwest Hub. On the way back to downtown along Salem Avenue, we travel through a section of the route that has seen trolley buses running continuously since 1933 (see comment below by "daytontrolleys"). We get dropped off at Main & 5th for lunch. And then continue our journey travelling southbound along Main Street. But this time we get to see the bus from a roof top perspective! Unfortunately the trolley bus runs into dead wire at Brown & Wyoming. After pushing the bus through the intersection 4 times, we gave up on the idea of visiting Oakwood. Onwards to Lakeview Avenue and then to Townview. We pass through a residential area on the way to the Westown Hub. Our tour wraps up in downtown at Main & 5th where BBC 110 is seen driving off into the horizon.

  • Travel by trolley bus! Hi all, I had a ride on an old trolley bus this weekend. These old electric buses are in a way similar to trams, but they are not fixed to rails. They get power from an overhead line, usualy about 600V. Sorry for the not holding the camera perfectley still, as you ill appreciated it's quite tricky on the top deck of a bus being driven over cobbles! These trolley buses are also pretty nippy, it may not look it in the video but the acceleration is much greater than modern busses, even being driven around a narrow street. I hope you enjoy the video

  • King County Metro MAN Trolleybus at Illinois Railway Museum King County Metro (Seattle) trolleybus #4020 is representative of a series of articulated trolleybusses built in the late '70s/early '80s by MAN of Germany, for the Seattle electric trolleybus system operated by King County Metro. They lasted a long time, and were retired in 2007, replaced by former dual-mode Breda "tunnel bus" trolleys with their diesel engines removed. I personally rode these buses when I lived in Seattle, so seeing this trolleybus at the Illinois Railway Museum so far from its home, was a treat and even though only several years has passed, very nostalgic. Also present are a small Ford diesel bus of the Chicago & West Towns Street Railway, a CTA GM bus, a very old trolley also with King County Metro, and a "fishbowl"-style trolley formerly with Edmonton's now-dismantled system. The MAN bus has destination signs set for a Route 43 run, from downtown Seattle to the U-District via Capitol Hill. The bus could not run anywhere but this loop of wire- road construction further north on the museum's streets blocked off the route. Normally though, trolleybuses are able to traverse the entire property of IRM.
