***ogue Solutions Oberkorn MK3 Tutorial #05 - Transposing a Live ***og Sequence via CV or MIDI HOW TO: Transpose a live sequence using CV or MIDI to CV on the ***ogue Solutions Oberkorn sequencer. This is a particularly useful feature when using the sequencer w/ a DAW or MIDI setup. This video features a bassline (SCI Pro One) being sequenced by the Oberkorn ( row 1 is controlling pitch cv, row 2 is controlling filter cutoff). The sequence is then transposed and ultimately recorded as MIDI into a DAW for use in a track. Oberkorn is also simultaneously sequencing the SE ObieRack via a separate gate. Machinedrum provides the simple beat, and Juno 106 for the live poly synth. The Kenton Pro Solo was used to provide a MIDI to CV solution, but any CV synth or other MIDI to CV solution would work for purposes of TRANSPOSE IN.

CBH Transposing the harpsichord keyboard • Always read the accompanying technical description! More harpsichord stuff @ www.hpschd.nu Carey Beebe demonstrating how to transpose the keyboard from A392 to A415 to A440. Many of today's harpsichords were designed to be tuned at baroque pitch (A415), but are equipped with keyboards which easily transpose a semitone up to modern pitch (A440), or even down to French baroque pitch (A392). A simple five-finger exercise establishes the pitch at A392. One of the transposing blocks is removed from the treble side, and the keyboard slid one note to the right to fill the space. The harpsichord now plays a semitone higher at A415. The transposing block should be used to fill the space now at the bass end of the keyboard. Removing the remaining transposing block at the treble and sliding the keyboard again, brings the pitch a semitone higher to A440. If you have tuned in an unequal temperament, you will need to retune because your keys will have transposed at the same time, but this pitch change has been accomplished without radical alteration of the string tension. To return to lower pitch, the transposing blocks are removed from the bass and replaced at the treble side. Ruckers Single Harpsichord by Carey Beebe, Sydney 2000.

Transposing MIDI Notes --------------------------------------------------------------------- To transpose means you are moving notes or a melody up or down the musical scale. When you transpose, they are the same notes but have a higher or lower pitch within the key range. This can be helpful if you have two similar musical elements but don't want them to conflict with each other. You can transpose one to a higher key and one to a lower key. This can be done in GarageBand with a MIDI audio region you recorded. Read more by visiting our page at:

CBH Transposing the harpsichord keyboards II • Always read the accompanying technical description! More harpsichord stuff @ www.hpschd.nu Carey Beebe demonstrating how to transpose a double-keyboard harpsichord from A392 to A415 to A440 and back again. Many of today's harpsichords were designed to be tuned at baroque pitch (A415), but are equipped with keyboards which easily transpose a semitone up to modern pitch (A440), or even down to French baroque pitch (A392). A simple chord progression in G Major establishes the pitch at A392. One of the transposing blocks is removed from the treble side, and the keyboards slid one note to the right to fill the space. (The upper keyboard is confined to the lower, so only the lower need be slid.) The harpsichord now plays a semitone higher at A415. The transposing block should be used to fill the space now at the bass end of the keyboards. If you have tuned in an unequal temperament like here, you will need to retune because your keys will have transposed at the same time, but this pitch ch ange has been accomplished without radical alteration of the string tension.Removing the remaining transposing block at the treble and sliding the keyboards again, brings the pitch a semitone higher to A440. To return to lower pitch, the transposing blocks are removed from the bass and replaced at the treble side. Ruckers Double Harpsichord by Carey Beebe, Sydney 2003.
