  • AERIAL 04 Mrs Bartolozzi Kate Bush. Mrs Bartolozzi. Aerial. 2005. You know what, it's taken me some time, but I've finally grown to love this song and I found it's hidden depths, in amongst the washing ha ha! Anyway, I hope I've done it some justice with this video, it certainly took some thinking about before I brought it to fruition - there's clips from "KB live & TV", "The Canterbury Tales", "I Know Where I'm Going", "From Here To Eternity", and the wonderful 1934 Busby Berkeley movie "Dames", which (imho) works particularly well with the end sequence. Methinks "The Lady With The Ironing Board" could easily have influenced Elvis's dancing jumpsuit in Kate's "King Of The Mountain" video. I remember it was that Wednesday Oh when it rained and it rained They traipsed mud all over the house It took hours and hours to scrub it out All over the hall carpet I took my mop and bucket And I cleaned and I cleaned The kitchen floor Until it sparkled Then I took my laundry basket And put the linen all in it And everything I could fit in it And all our dirty clothes that hadn't gone into the wash And all your shirts and jeans and things And put them in the new washing machine Washing machine Washing machine I watched them go 'round and 'round My blouse wrapping itself in your trousers Oh the waves are going out My skirt floating up around my waist As I wade out into the surf Oh and the waves are coming in Oh and the waves are going out Oh and you're standing right behind me Little fish swim between my legs ...
  • Born Losers by Matthew Good Acoustic Cover of Born Losers by Matthew Good I just figured it out by ear so I know it's not exact and I changed the key to make it a little more in my range... oh and I also Slightly adapted the lyrics. Thanks for watching! There ain't nothing to this but your daughters. The life you would not give up. Break your plans. Traipsed across the continent, a squatter. For your lies at night to sleep between our hands. When the lights come on this whole place gets ugly. But when they're out family gets along. You could never say that flat out you don't want me. Cause I could never say that halfway ain't enough. We're back where we belong. Straight back where we belong. Take me out back to your piranhas and beat me until I can't even stand. Your whole life without no landing gear, so if this is it then come on, let me land. That trailer trash pedigree is calling. It rats you out when you're down on all fours. Me I like to cast my death on yesterday cause what doesn't kill us now just makes us stronger foes. We're back where we belong. Straight back where we belong. No days for nights. No prozak cons. Just back where we belong. Go put it in the ground. Go bury it somewhere it can't be found. Go put it in the ground.
  • What Happens In Paris.... [ep. 4 pt. 1] "A troubled girl." Here it is!! i hope you guys enjoy it. If the different points of view confuse you, just leave a comment. I'd be happy to answer! ***** Taylors POV The next morning I decided to dress some what nicely so I put on one of the button down shirts I had brought, with a pair of jeans and my Converse. I traipsed down the stairs and ran into Madame Trouvel. "Ma chere? You are heading out early, non?" "Yes, Madame. I have a job now. I hope." I told her. She smiled and patted my arm. "You be a good boy and I'll see you at dinner." I smiled, nodded and opened the door. Last night's food was so good, that I'd leave my job early if I had to, just to be on time for dinner. Well probably not, but it was so good that I'd consider it. I walked to the bridge and flagged down a taxi. I gave him the directions that Madame Denise had given me and to my surprise, he took me over the bridge and past the Eiffel Tower. Last night, Madame Trouvel had told me that's where all the rich families lived. I didn't think that's where I would be working. But it kind of made since, because Madame Denise was well dressed, now that I thought about it. Just a few minutes later, the cab pulled into a gated area and stopped in a circular driveway. And the prospect in front of me was breath taking. The house was huge. It had ivy crawling over the outside, there were three levels of windows, at least 5 or 6 on each level. And that was just from the front! There's no telling how many rooms. I was blown away. What ...

  • Scott Kilvert Hut - Cradle Mountain - Tasmania A few weeks ago we traipsed around the back of Cradle Mountain and spent a night in Scott Kilvert Hut. Many apologies for it's quality, he still has a lot to learn!

We traipsed round Chorlton and Didsbury looking for a restaurant with something he'd not eaten before and didn't strike lucky until about the tenth. Unfortunately it was a bit posh and a bit full but when we explained our predicament to the waiter, he gave us one. "Do try this at home". Watch the video to see what it was.
  • One Fine Day Part 1 of 4 Hey!! Good luck on your final! Sorry about the splicing, I kept getting out of the camera view, but this will at least help you practice. Transcription for the ASL-impaired: This is the story called "One Fine Day." One Fine Day, there was a fox trotting along when suddenly his attention was drawn to a pail. He was quite inquisitive and so proceeded to see what was inside. Much to his excitement, it was filled with fresh milk. After making sure no one was around, he took a small taste. It was so delicious and sweet, he could hardly control himself as he inhaled the ENTIRE pail of milk! The fox was filled to satisfaction and curled up for a nap. Meanwhile an old lady was shuffling her way over to her pail of milk. She was very perturbed to find that it was completely empty! "Who stole my milk!?!" She questioned. She didn't have to look far before she found the sleeping fox. At this, the old woman became utterly unhinged and in a wild craze pulled a knife from her pocket and sliced the fox's tail right off his body! The fox cried out in anguish, "YOU STOLE MY TAIL!! GIVE IT BACK!!" To which the old lady replied, "Well hey, you stole my milk! When you give me my milk, I'll give you your tail." Despite the fox's anger, he agreed and with his head hung low he went off to find some milk. "Where am I supposed to find milk?" he thought. It wasn't long before he found a cow and asked, "Would you mind giving me some milk to give to the old lady who will give me my tail? It'd really ...

Read the full blog here: This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Kyoto, Japan Entry Title: "Geishas, Temples and Shrines" Entry: "As Japan's former capital for over 1000 years, Kyoto has quite a lot of history. Wah wah wah! Understatement alert! It has over 1600 temples and 400 shrines and 24 museums - not bad for a city that is a mere speck by Chinese standards: only 1.5 million. We're here for 5 days and I fully expect to be templed-out after a day so it should be interesting! Day One So we started as we meant to go on...we traipsed up a hill and went to a monkey park. Friendly monkeys they were too but in a stroke of typical Japanese reverse logic genius it was the humans in the cage and the monkeys free to roam - at least while you're feeding the little fellas. We took over 100 photos whilst there (culled to about 50 later) including of one who appeared to be earnestly fishing - leaning over so far his head was less than an inch over the water and swishing at the koi carp every now and then. I'm sure he could have caught one if he really wanted to though so maybe he was just playing (with us?) while we all watched and smirked from the sidelines. We also saw a festival on the water but it was surprisingly chaotic so we gave up and found the first of 17 UNESCO World Heritage Site temples. It had some pleasant zen gardens and bamboo groves but we're ...

  • Arkady Gendler - Mayn shtetele Soroke Arkady Gendlers Song World by Mark Slobin The Yiddish folksong had a hard life in the twentieth century. First it fell victim to the urbanization and modernization of east European Jewish life, then to the brutal regimes of Hitler and Stalin. In the United States, its largest refuge area, assimilation, the shock of the Holocaust, and the creation of the State of Israel led to wholesale neglect of a thousand- year tradition of deeply expressive culture . This is why people like Arkady Gendler are so valuable. He comes from a generation that grew up in the twilight of the Yiddish song, where there was still enough cultural radiance to sink into ones skin. He learned many songs as part of an energetic youth group that not just inherited a tradition, but worked on creating a generational repertoire ranging from political to pop. He knew people who wrote their own songs, which his circle used as a thread to guide them through the labyrinth of modernity and dislocation. The Yiddish song was always an eclectic collection of inspired moments of feeling, selected and shaped over the centuries. In the Renaissance and the early modern era, folksingers would adapt the touching or lurid ballads and lullabies of their gentile neighbors to suit a Jewish communitys feelings. Many, many songs are about love and crisis, arising out of a young peoples set of sensibilities. In modern times, poets and teachers wrote folk-like texts and tunes that filtered into mass consciousness with amazing ...

Entry from: Blenheim, New Zealand Entry Title: "Wellington, Picton and Blenheim" Entry: "We woke about 7.30am and traipsed up a short hill to another Quest complex to use their gym....this gym was huge and even had a pool. A 30min workout ensued before walking back down the hill, reparking the car, checking out and having breakfast. We find a little Italian cafe and smoked salmon.....next we wondered around the sites of Wellington. A quaint place with amazing architecture, cute weatherboard houses, lots of coffee and beer! We walked along the waterfront, stopped in at the Dog and Bone for a half pint, visited Teddy Bears with Attitude and rode up and down on the Cable Car (incredible views). Next we drove to the hire car company and they drove us to the ferry terminal. We took the Interislander ferry to Picton. 3 hours.....pure luxury compared to all the ferries we have ever been on. We spent an extra $20ea when booking and had the pleasure of the "Club Class" to ourselves. A private room with tea, coffee, tv, newspapers and writing desks. We found the bar, we took some photos, we wrote some postcards and generally had a ball. At the other end, we collected our luggage off the airport style carousel before plodding off to Blenheim. Blenheim is approx 30mins south from Picton....also quaint with ...

  • Happy-Slap-a-Retard See this poor unfortunate person with SEN being happy-slapped by his 'carers'. Promised a day at the zoo, he was traipsed around the murkier parts of Newcastle and plied with cheap ale. He was then filmed being happy-slapped and generally assaulted for his carers' own amusement and gratification. Listen to the taunts of his so-called friends. Utterly shocking in its casual brutality.....and all subsidised too!

  • urban visions.wmv This video is my "editor's cut" of some of the work I've been doing most recently with some film that is very special to me. The footage was originally taped during the 1990's but I've never worked that raw material into a statement or series of statements, until now. I used some "old school" techniques-like stop motion and some newer digital tools which allow me to do such things as add a musical score to the tracks. As a result I've worked up a piece that updates some of my favorite archival material. During the late 80's and into the mid 90's I spent a fair amount of time working with an 8mm video camera, shooting pretty much at random while I went traipsed around LA The majority of what I filmed happened in South Central, and on one fortunate afternoon I had two serendipitous encounters-they form the core of this video. While those encounters are the highlight of the piece, the background footage that sets the stage for those moments also offers numerous snapshots of life in the hood at that time. My desire is to allow those images to tell the story, to speak about the look, sound and feel of the place, the period.

  • Russian cartoon: Plasticine Crow (+Eng subs) The most famous part of the film "Plasticine Crow" (far better than the first four minutes, I think). Direction by Aleksandr Tatarskiy (his first film as director) Russian words by Eduard Uspenskiy English translation by myself. There is a simple folk tale or maybe not a folk tale or maybe not so simple that we'd like you to hear we know it from our childhood or maybe from adulthood or maybe we don't know it but hope it will appear. One time there was a crow or possibly a dog or possibly a cow who struck a lucky score: she found a piece of cheese about 200 grams or possibly 300 or maybe even more. She flew right up a pine or maybe didn't fly or maybe up a palm tree she ran right up from thence and there for some nice breakfasting or maybe for some dinner or maybe even suppertime she quickly made her plans. But here a fox was running or maybe wasn't running or maybe a mad ostrich or kind, we might presume Or possibly a sweeper who traipsed along the countryside to find the nearest hazel tree and carve himself a broom. "Oh listen my dear crow unless you are a dog or possibly a cow the finest cow of all your feathers are exquisite your horns are really something your hooves are nice and slim and what a kindly soul! If ever you should sing or maybe if you woof or if you started mooing (since cows moo a lot) then you'll get a big saddle a carpet and a TV; nice presents will be gotten or maybe will be got." And so, the stupid crow, or possibly the dog, or possibly the cow ...
  • Rural Nyanga, Zimbabwe Every morning people with umbrellas or pickaxes tossed over their shoulders traipsed past the barbed motel fence (it was there to keep the horribly thin cattle from eating the motel's juicy grass). More than once the spectacle of Bow Wow flicking his ball in the air and dribbling drew an audience. "Serious! It knows soccer skills, it is very rare and funny!" the locals laughed who, being used to working dogs, appeared to have never seen anything quite like it.
  • I rony / 7.2 comments would be lovely. -- She traipsed back across the sand and into the house. She dragged her feet on the welcome mat by the door to rid them of as much sand as possible. She kept her right hand fisted tightly around the ball, angling her body slightly away from Nick, who sat on the couch finally free from his fleece captor. "What was it?" Nick questioned curiously, eyeing the toned legs that extended from Selena's sleep shorts. "Did you find anything?" "Oh, it was nothing," Selena lied quickly. "Some coconuts fell on the satellite, that's all." "Oh," Nick chuckled. "I suppose that would make sense, seeing as we're on a tropical island and all. So, how bad is the damage to the satellite, do you think?" "From the coconuts?" "I meant the storm. Hopefully it's not too bad," Nick offered sympathetically, rising from the cushions and crossing the room to where Selena stood. "It'll take some work, that's for sure, but it's certainly not irreparable. We really do need to try to get it up and running though; it's the only form of communication I have on this island." "Yeah, it might be good to try to get in contact with authorities from the mainland. Maybe they'll have some clues as to exactly who I am." "Yes, exactly," Selena replied in a controlled voice, fighting the smile that twitched at the corners of her lips. "So what do you remember about yourself anyways? Is anything coming back?" "Only my name. That's it. Sorry." He shrugged apologetically. Selena sighed sadly ...
  • The Hunter - Monster Whitetail Bucks So today I go to my favorite spot in search of that monster tophy whitetail buck where I had spotted several big ones yesterday, but none of them topped my current bucks score of 177 6/8, so I gave it another go. I was in luck this morning as I was just coming over a hill, I heard my first buck. I waited sometime for him to get up and over the hill and ... 0_0 ......it was a big one. After tagging this one with the huntermate I traipsed off deeper into the woods and over the rocky terrain cause my hunt was only half way over, and eventually saw the second buck of my trip. I heard him only once from my spot where I was laying on the ground, and by that time he was close he could have smelled me/heard me.. I think he did actually. Funny thing is, one of these bucks did place me higher on the leaderboard, but I have no idea which one!! One of those bucks scored 186 3/8 and #41 on the board.
