  • KYTC Minute - April 21, 2011 When heavy rains cause rockslides that can close highways, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is quick to respond. Just as during winter weather when road crews work to clear snow and ice, the Department of Highways makes the cleanup and safe reopening of the highway, a priority following a slide. This video shows crews and contractors working to remove debris from a slide that blocked all four lanes of US 23 at Russell in Greenup County. Crews are shown using trackhoes and other equipment to remove car-sized boulders and other debris. US 23 is a major thoroughfare in eastern Kentucky, and it was reopened to traffic less than 24 hours after the slide. This is just one example. Highway crews are on high alert each spring with a "game plan" -- ready to respond at any hour with loaders, trucks and detour signs. The goal is to reopen any closed road quickly to keep traffic moving as efficiently and safely as possible.

After an eternity of waiting, the truck carrying her casket came and passed by at about 4:45 pm in snail fashion, preceded by thousands of people and followed by more crowds, the poor, the poorer, the poorest, the rich, the richer, and the richest, on horse carriage, in bicycles, motorcycles, cars, vans, and buses. It's an absolute base model - only option is the 6-speed auto which I had in sport mode. Traction & stability control control off (not much of an issue in this car on dry roads). I want to compare this video to my 2007 335i when I get it back from the dealer - I'll post that video soon! The road was uphill by maybe 3 degrees... not too far from flat. Sorry for the slightly shaky video... I just rested my digital camera on top of the steering wheel and did this in one take since the opportunity for long trafficless open nearly flat roads is rare.

I knew that the area was nice, and I sure was right. • WW1 - Fighting in Flanders "Preparing for Passchendaele" (1917) Curator's clip description by Paul Byrnes Horse-drawn wagons and trucks move forward in the run-up to the Third Battle for Ypres (also known as Passchendaele), in September 1917. The road heads east from Ypres past Hellfire Corner, a famously dangerous place on the Menin Road. Hessian screens have been erected to make the traffic less visible to German artillery, which pounds the route day and night. Soldiers unload large supplies of shells for the barrage that is to precede the attack. At Hooge Crater, Australian tunnellers and pioneers are busy preparing underground bunkers for the headquarters of the Australian units. The ground is so wet that the dugouts must be continually pumped out by men operating hand pumps. Curator's notes Having failed to break the stalemate on the Western Front in the Battle of the Somme in the summer of 1916, Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig conceived another offensive further north around Ypres, in order to relieve pressure on the French armies further south, and to try to drive the Germans back from the Belgian ports. German U-boats were causing havoc with British and American shipping in the Atlantic, and denying them bases on this coast would restrict their offensive ability. The problem for both sides was mud, as these scenes make clear. The low-lying Belgian countryside was drained by a system of c***s and channels built up over hundreds of years. The effect of three years of heavy shellfire was to destroy those drainage systems ...
  • ***ysis of US & Canadian Consumer Spending Behaviors in Food Services | Empathica reports Download full report The Wave 1 Empathica Consumer Insights survey of more than 13000 US and Canadian consumers revealed several findings related to spending differences between men and women, customer service perceptions, and brand loyalty. In a time when restaurants have faced significant challenges with maintaining and growing their current client base, it's necessary to conduct a close examination of current business processes that are either stimulating or hindering their growth. While economic conditions have impacted consumer spending across the board, the restaurant industry has been affected most prominently. Casual and fine dining restaurant brands, in particular, struggle with lower traffic, less incoming cash and higher expectations to deliver. To accommodate changing consumer behaviors concerning discretionary spend, restaurants must place more of an emphasis on customer service in order to achieve traction with today's choosy consumers. With this research, Empathica desired to gain not only better insight into customer spending behaviors in today's economy, but also the motivations that drive such behaviors. Among the findings realized by the Empathica Consumer Insights Panel, there were several prominent action steps required of today's restaurant marketers: Know your top promoters and your top detractors in order to establish a better customer experience. Americans, though spending less and dining out less frequently, demand unparalleled ...

  • BackBreaker May Have Defensive AI Issues When Spinning Into The Line. Just a few examples to back up my post. One way I would consider fixing this is making spins behind or at the line be much more open, almost like a sweeping motion rather than a tight circle. As far as that impacting realism, Im not sure any back should have the agility to spin in a 2 foot square while accelerating. Id also question if any back has the focus to consistently take a hand off and secure a ball while spinning into traffic less than 4 feet later.
  • Reckless Dump Truck Driver Construction dump truck driver pull out from a construction zone in front of traffic less than a 100 feet away from him from a dead stop. The information on his company on the side of the truck says" Sheets Trucking Company, Lebanon, In truck 003. We looked up this company and all it's information according to the USDOT is obsolete. Regardless of what traffic is doing ion the construction this driver came into the highway from inside a construction zone at a 90 degree angle so there was no doubt as to what was approaching him. Just because there is a sign"Give them a break" Does not mean that construction vehicles are licensed to be reckless. They still have to abide by safety protocol and the rules of the road. The Indiana State Police were called on this and they stated that in order for construction vehicles to exit at this point was unsafe and required a flag person to stop traffic which there was not. This construction zone is on the east side of Indianapolis. Dump trucks are now required to exit the other end of the construction zone where they can accelerate safely and exit using the breakdown shoulder to where ever they are going. There were also no warning signs that stated that construction vehicles entered and exited at this location which are required by law.

  • NDAA Peaceful Protest/Police Clash - Portland D17 Raw Footage clash at 3:19 American citizens protest the Bill of Rights defying National Defense Authorization Act for 2012. The march was peaceful on sidewalks and then in an attempt to take a trafficless street, Portland Bike Police use physical force before any clear verbal communication. I personally obeyed the verbal command of one officer to leave the street, turned around to walk away and was shoved in the back by him. I then turned around only to record the same officer throwing another non-violent protestor directly into my camera. I think the Portland Police should be required to release ALL of their footage from these events to the public and lawfully punish those officers that unnecessarily provoke violence in these peaceful demonstrations.
