My mentors, John Henry Crow, Eustace Conway, Roy Waya, have all taken their time in the hills just as i did. Here, we go see a buddy who is pushing himself and learning about the forest by waking up there each day throughout a summer, fall, and Winter so far. Eustace started 30 years ago and never went back. Watch Adam as he joins the ranks of teachers who combine academic theory with real experience and share some insights in "You Gotta Move or you Gotta Die".

Winter camping in my miniature Sioux tipi This is a short video showcasing my mini Sioux Tipi. It's an exact replica of a full size tipi with fully functional smoke flaps and 20 oz fire retardant duck canvas. You can check it out at While I really like the tipi, I'll probably sell this one and buy something larger. UPDATE: Well, I ended up sleeping in the tipi that night. What a comedy it was. The temperature dropped to -15 C and to keep warm I was feeding wood into that little stove. Since I didn't use a draft tube, which I learned about later, the smoke became unbearable. The hole in the top allowed cold air and snow to blow in, and by 2:30 in the morning I stumbled into my house. I'll have to do some research before I try that again. LATEST UPDATE: I've sold this tipi to someone who plans to live in it for a year. I'm excited to hear how she does. Perhaps she'll make some videos.

Eurovision 1962 - Finland Marion Rung performing "Tipi-Tii" ("Chirpy-Chirp"), the Finnish entry at the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest. A silly but immensely catchy little song, this is arguably the most well-known among the first Finnish entries and a true classic of early 60s ESC. Marion would return to the contest in 1973 (again in Luxembourg, again performing first in the running order!) with "Tom Tom Tom", and this time she'd do a bit better than the 7th place she achieved with this one, reaching 6th place - which was Finland's best-ever showing at the contest before Lordi!

It has a steel plate in front for cooking. I knew winter here in Vermont would bee too cold, for an open fire. The stone in the prototype held heat for 24 hours after the fire was out. Tipi Retreat, a place for grounding . . . For more information,

Canvas Tipi for Winter Camping Someone gave me a canvas tent. I cut the rubber floor off and used a centre pole to see how well it would work as a winter camping tipi. I'll reinforce it at the apex (top) so that it can be used with either a centre pole or by hanging. The corners will be rounded too. The door and window are already functional, and staking it down is easy. It needs a stove jack and it's ready to keep 2-3 people toasty on the coldest Canadian nights.
