Avon Valley Railway - Timetable A - 08/07/09 A day spent on my local line, the Avon Valley Railway, in the company of GJDobbzy. The railway was operating its timetable A service, which on this occasion was a steam day. The loco in action today was Robert Stephenson 0-6-0 No 7151. We started off our visit with a ride from Bitton to Avon Riverside, and then up to Oldland Common, which is where this video starts. We then walked back to Bitton station for some lunch, before going back to the crossing at the Oldland end of the station so see the train make its way to Oldland. After walking back past Bitton, we set up just after the station at the Riverside end of the station, watching the train through. Moving further down the line we saw the train make its way back up to Bitton on the long straight run from Riverside. We then moved down to Riverside station itself, saw the train arrive and run round, before making another trip up to Oldland on the train and then back to Bitton, filming the train depart with its final service of the day to Riverside.

Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway Green Timetable, 080810 Part 1 of 2 Some of you may know I was booked onto the Torbay Express on July 11, which unfortunately was cancelled because not enough bookings were recieved to make running the tour feasable, most likely because of the date's clash with the world cup final. I transferred my booking to August 8, which was booked with the Unique BR 8P 4-6-2 71000 Duke of Gloucester. Unfortunately the previous day, 71000 failed its Fit-to-Run test with an 11-inch flat on the bogie under the driver's cab on the fireman's side. Because the backup engine in the form of GWR King 4-6-0 6024 King Edward I was at Yeovil having its Brich Arch rebuilt, the tour company had no alternative but to hire in a DBS Class 67, namely 67018 Keith Heller, to haul the train. When I got to Paignton I transferred to the Paignton Dartmouth Steam Railway to ensure I got at least some steam haulage that day. The Locomotive in Action was GWR 4200 2-8-0T 4277 'Hercules'. The day was a trip down memory lane for me, as the first Steam Railway Trip I can remember going on was a ride in the Devon Belle Observation Saloon (which requires a £1.50 supplementary fare, worth every penny) back in 1997 behind 4277's sister loco, 5239 'Goliath'. I had been hoping that Goliath would be in traffic, but it was in light steam ready for sharing the 2 train services the following week, and Hercules was a much more fitting loco for me than Lydham Manor would have been, although I have had a round trip behind 4277 at the North Yorkshire Moors ...

Feingold Calls For Flexible Timetable to Draw Down Troops in Afghanistan Senator Russ Feingold speaks on his amendment to the Defense Appropriations Act urging the president to provide information on the effects of a potential troop increase in Afghanistan from the Senate floor on Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Senator Feingold Calls for Timetable for US Troop Withdrawal from Afghanistan On August 24, 2009, Senator Russ Feingold told the Post-Crescent that the US needs to think about developing a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan. So far, there has not been any discussion in the Senate about how long our troops will be in Afghanistan. We hope that Sen. Feingold's comments will be the beginning of an important debate. Do your part and tell the Senate that we need to begin a public discussion on a US exit strategy from Afghanistan. Sign the Petition at:

McCain Clarifies "Pretty Good Timetable" John McCain on ABC's This Week, July 27, 2008

Obama and Iraqi prime minister agree on timetable In a stunning diplomatic breakthrough for Barack Obama, Iraq's prime minister yesterday endorsed the Democratic candidate's 16-month timeline for withdrawing combat troops from Iraq. Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki endorsed the Obama approach in a July 18 interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel, just as President Bush and Sen. John McCain were touting a vague new commitment to a "horizon" for withdrawal. The New York Times did not report the Maliki statement in its July 19 edition. Uncertainty about Maliki's surprise statement persists since his top political spokesman told the Times only one week ago that troop withdrawals would take three to five years, if not longer. [NYT, July 11]. The number of American troops he would request as counter-terrrorism units, trainers and advisers could be tens of thousands. But as Obama's plane touched down in Afghanistan, Maliki's comments were having a far-reaching effect on the war and presidential politics, with the Maliki government withdrawing from George Bush and making McCain appear foolish. As noted before at this site, Iraqi public opinion -- Shi'a and Sunni -- strongly favors a deadline for American troop withdrawal. The provincial elections to be held later this year [at the insistence of the US] will produce victories for candidates who demand ending the occupation, both in Sunni areas like Anbar and Mahdi Army areas like Sadr City. Maliki's coalition must appear to stand for Iraqi sovereignty and the departure of US ...

Severn Valley Railway 'Festive Season Timetable' - 2nd January 2010 My first railway trip for 2010 was the Severn Valley Railway, 2010 is the Great Western Railways 175th Anniversary and what a great place to kick this very special year off!! The Severn Valley Railway had a Festive Season Timetable on and up to three steam locomotives were to be working over the line, these locomotives were GWR 2-6-2T 5101 'Large Prairie' Class number 5164 LMS 2-6-0 5MT 'Stainer Mogul' Class number 42968 BR(M) 2-6-0 4MT Class 'The Flying Pig' number 43106 It had been hoped 6695 could run who was visiting from the Swanage Railway but sadly she didnt so 42968 was placed on her trains instead, also the day would have been another good chance to see newly restored The Flying Pig! I spent the day with JBTEvans and we both did a day with a mixture of riding and a bit of linesiding, the trains we were on 1025 Kidderminster-Bridgnorth hauled by 5164 1203 Bridgnorth-Hampton Loade hauled by 5164 1347 Hampton Loade-Kidderminster hauled by 42968 1455 Kidderminster-Bewdley hauled by 42968 1543 Bewdley-Kidderminster hauled by 43106 The day was good with lovely clear crisp skies it really brings out the fantastic effects steam has in the winter, in this video we mainly see shots around the stations on board shots and the odd Lineside shot outside Hampton Loade. It was a good start to the New Year. Enjoy!

Ali Larijani: Iran - IAEA Talks on Nuclear Timetable Ali Larijani Iran's top nuclear negotiator gave an exclusive interview to Press TV before leaving for high-level talks with the IAEA and the European Union. Mr. Larijani emphasized the need for a clear timetable on the Iranian nuclear program together with the IAEA to settle the outstanding issues. Following the meeting Mr. Solana told press reporters on Monday "We have had a very constructive meeting, and we will meet again in three weeks' time," Solana told reporters after the four-hour meeting at the Portuguese foreign ministry headquarters. "We will continue on this path," added Solana. Larijani said Iran wanted to settle its nuclear dispute with the West through diplomacy. Asked whether a new UN sanctions resolution could end his talks with Solana, Larijani said: "If some adventure-seeking countries want to interrupt the process of diplomacy, this may have some effects." "I think for the big powers the prevalence of tranquility would be more important," Reuters quoted Larijani as saying.

Keith Olbermann comments on Obama/Maliki timetable It's not a "timetable" for extricating US troops from Iraq that George W. Bush is suddenly talking about, and heaven help anyone who accuses him of proposing a "timeline." No, the Decider says he is now amenable to a "time horizon," which apparently is a whole different kind of time thing -- not at all like the sensible course of action that Democrats and other critics of the Iraq occupation have been demanding. If Bush were known for exquisite subtlety in his use of the language, I'd note that a horizon is, by definition, a line that can never be reached. But pigs will streak across the sky at Mach 2 before this president displays a diabolical mastery of semantics. His new "time horizon" formulation is just smoke, intended to obfuscate and stall. In six months, Iraq becomes somebody else's problem. The shift does put loyal supporters of Bush's Iraq policy in an untenable position, though. Their mantra has been that anyone who suggests a date for US withdrawal, however vague or distant or aspirational, is being "defeatist." Now, logically, they ought to be saying the same thing about the president. John McCain is the real victim of Bush's rhetorical moonwalk. After yoking himself to the president's stay-the-course policy and musing that US troops could be in Iraq for a century, he finds himself virtually alone in advocating what is now an extremist position. Events have conspired to make the strategy advocated by Barack Obama and other leading Democrats -- set a timetable ...

McCain Follows Obama, Now Supports Timetables BLITZER: What If Maliki persists, you're president and he says he wants US Troops out and he wants them out, let's say in a year or two years or 16 months or whatever, what do you do? Do you listen to the prime minister? MCCAIN: He won't. He won't. BLITAZER: How do you know? MCCAIN: Because i know him. And i know him very well. And i know the other leaders. And i know -- i've been there eight times, as you know. I know them very, very well. BLITZER: So Why do you think he said that 16 months is basically a pretty good timetable? MCCAIN: He said it's a pretty good timetable based on conditions on the ground. I think it's a pretty good timetable, as we should -- or horizons for withdrawal. But they have to be based on conditions on the ground. MCCAIN YESTERDAY: "Speaking at a town hall meeting here, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said that Obama, even after visiting Iraq, was showing 'a remarkable failure to understand the facts on the ground' by continuing to call for a withdrawal of US troops from Iraq on a fixed timetable." [Atlanta Journal Constotution, July 24, 2008] MCCAIN LAST WEEK: "An artificial timetable based on political expediency would have led to disaster and could still turn success into defeat," Mr. McCain said. [New York Times, 7/19/08] MCCAIN DURING THE PRIMARIES: Later, McCain turned his fire on Democrats, including Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, accusing them of endangering Americans by advocating a specific timetable for withdrawal ...

West Somerset Railway - Gold Timetable - 19/08/09 - Part 1 Part 1 of 2 My first visit to the West Somerset on a normal summer day since 2006. The weather was almost perfect, with the sun only being interupted by some cloud and wind during the day. I made the trip to the railway with JBTEvans, GJDobbzy, GWRDec, and jakeyboygen. The engines in service were the DMU, GWR 2885 No 3850, SDJR 7F No 88, and WSR Mogul No 9351. After catching the first train off Bishops Lydeard, we pass 3850 with the first train from MInehead at Blue Anchor. After a wait at Minehead, we stay with the DMU and head back south, passing 88 at Blue Anchor. We then see the DMU departing Watchet heading for Bishops Lydeard, before 9351 arrives with the third train of the day for Minehead. After seeing the mogul run round, we see 3850 returning from Bishops Lydeard. The 2-8-0 then swaps rosters with the mogul and takes 9351s service to Bishops Lydeard. Then After the mogul has been turned, it runs down past the level crossing before attaching to the front of the next departure from Minehead. And finally in this part we see the Mogul departing Dunster for Bishops Lydeard.

Severn Valley Railway Timetable D, 05/04/10 part 1 For the third year in a row I paid a visit to the Severn Valley Railway on Easter Monday, where the railway was operating their Timetable D, with 5 locomotives operating 2 round trips each at 45 minute intervals. The line-up was: GWR 5101'Large Prairie' 2-6-2T 5164 (operated on Easter Monday 2008 and 2009) GWR 56xx 'Taffy Tank' 0-6-2T 6695 (Visiting from the Swanage Railway) (Part 1 only) GWR 78xx 'Manor' 4-6-0 7802 'Bradley Manor' (operated Easter Monday 2009) GWR 78xx 'Manor' 4-6-0 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' (operated Easter Monday 2008 and 2009) LMS 5MT 'Stanier Mogul' 2-6-0 42968 Stock arrangements were a little unusual, the GWR liveried Prairie was put on the LNER Teaks, not the GWR rake the Stanier Mogul was on the GWR stock, not the LMS rake, which was occupied by the Taffy Tank. However, as per usual, the day was a brilliant one, living up to the Line's high standards. I met some friends from Kidderminster and did the following plan: 0955 Kidderminster - Hampton Loade (6695) Walk to Country Park Halt 12:03ish Country Park Halt - Highley (6695) 1327 Highley - Bridgnorth (7802) 1410 Bridgnorth - Highley (42968) 1542 Highley - Bridgnorth (5164) 1755 Bridgnorth - Kidderminster (42968) The weather throughout the day was cloudy, a little windy, but dry, unsurprisingly as the weather forecast said it would be showery throughout the day. I'm sorry for the shakeyness of some shots, my tripod is getting a bit worn and I am looking at purchasing a new one in the not too distant ...

A Timetable for the Neocons by the Southern Avenger When the Iraq government recently announced they wanted a timetable for withdrawal of US troops, it was no surprise that Bush, McCain and the Republican establishment dismissed their wishes - which exposed their desire for a permanent military presence in the Middle East, the true goal of their neoconservative sponsors.
