I do not know about the origin of this band name. However, I think that there is no intention which insults Hawaiians and voodoo to them. The sound "Hawaiian" is easily associated with musical "Hawaiian" in Japan. In Japan, musical Hawaiian is known between the public as "Hawaiian(ハワイアン)" and has very many lovers who enjoy themselves as a lifetime hobby. The large resort facility the "Spa Resort Hawaiians" which put weight on the meaning musical "Hawaiian" is also located in Fukushima Prefecture. The Hawaiian as people is expressed as "Hawaii Jin" in Japanese. American are "America Jin",Japanese are "Nihon Jin" or "Nippon Jin". The songwriter of "EVDH" is Takeshi Sumida. I think that at least he does not have the intention which looks down on Hawaiians from a high position socially. I think that they are putting the sense of incongruity to the society assumed for which studied composure and patched up into the view. Isn't "Everybody's VooDoo Hawaiians" manifestation of this sense of incongruity, and appeal to solidarity? Although I am only one of their fans ...

Heart - Straight On--Live, 2008 (so tiny, so fuzzy) So that's what... a stage? Yes, yes it was. And no, I was not drunk (read on to find out why). My cell phone lens was just a little--a lot--smudgey. But... Oh, what a night! Late September, back in 2008... The bill at the Greek Theater on September 30th was Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey. I got there late, but as I walked in, I heard the dulcet utterance of the theme to "That 70's Show". And we were, truly, all alright. Cheap Trick rocked the place like only Cheap Trick can. Guitars--twelve stringed, five necked or merely artfully and diversely decorated--roared, wailed and thrummed as the drums beat their unstoppable rhythm and voices wove story into the clamor's raw emotion. 'The Dream Police,' 'Surrender' and 'I Want You to Want Me' were all musical libation to my parched soul. Sadly, being a Tuesday, we were prepared by neither a restful weekend nor a snootful of the hop, so it took a while for the crowd to warm up to the musical feast laid before it. (That's what warm-up acts are for. But when the warm-up act is the influential and legendary Cheap Trick, I couldn't help but feel guilty at not being pre-warmed for the occasion.) Nonetheless, the band woke us up and got our blood pumping in plenty of time for the next act... HEART! Whenever I begin to doubt whether there's a Greater Force at work in the universe--one which is intent on seeing to our ultimate joy--I look no further than the Wilson sisters for reassurance. A world where such a wondrous gift of music ...

ALOHA OE by Madame Alapai 1911 - Made in Hawaii Here is about the earliest recording of Hawaiian music in my collection, recorded and released on Columbi Record label about 1911. It was made in Hawaii, but it has a sticker on both sides saying it was for sale only in the United States. Interesting, good early Hawaiian music, and historically significant. ENjoy! Here is an article from the Nalu Music website ( www.nalu- ) describing this record and the artists: "Early Recordings ca. 1910 Columbia recording of Mr. Harry Clark and the Kaai Glee Club recorded in Hawai'i. "Waialae" features violin and ukulele accompaniment, quite possibly played by Ernest Kaai himself. The strumming pattern is characterized by two strokes to the beat, a technique described by Kaai in his 1910 revised method as "The Roll Stroke". Of the "Kaai roll" he writes "All the beats begin with the 1st finger down stroke and the half-beats up stroke with thumb and 1st finger." (Columbia Y-30) [audio:www.nalu- The flip side of "Waialae" features Madame Nani Alapai, reputed to have been the first singer for the Royal Hawaiian Band, and Henry N. Clark, brother of Harry. "Aloha 'Oe" includes violin and flute accompaniment, instruments largely replaced by the steel guitar in the typical Hawaiian ensemble of the 1910s. Charmian London wrote of Nani Alapai's unique voice after hearing her sing in 1907: From the cool twilight lanai floated in to our ears the most bewitching, sleepy, sensuous music, rippled through with gurgles of lazy ...

mBu All natural and cut to the quick...In the Botanic Gardens behind the Sydney Conservatorium of Music stands a tall thicket of bamboo (Bambusa spp.) whose stems have been graffiti'd ten times o'er by louts and lovers, local and alien. mBu is my little elegy, both musically and visually, to this amusing copse of brave but wounded wildlife. The soundtrack was created by tapping, blowing on, scraping, or dropping lengths of bamboo, and recording bambooming groans when wind sighed through the grove and thrummed its trunks. No environmentalist statement is intended or implied. mBu is an assemblage of still and moving images of the grove, in which I leave the graffitists' gougings, and the exquisite shades and textures of these grand grasses, to speak for themselves.

Cat Stevens' perfectly executed songs, Hendrix's raw experimental magnetism, Dylan's honest and world-weary stories, and Van Morrisson's rustic charm provided the soundtrack to these wild and rambling trips. Since then, the world has flashed by faster than I ever imagined possible and a myriad of other sounds have joined the throng, creating a wonderfully strange and beautiful cacophony, which, very occasionally falls into focus, creating perfect moments of elation. Many years ago I dreamed of a song. It was a song that I had created, one that thrummed and swayed, like the long sunset grass of an English field, it crashed and sprayed like waves beating down the door of my house, it was the humming of the car's engine ...

Life We walked, barefoot, though sunny glade, Soft grasses underfoot, Dew between our toes Sun shining down upon our smiling faces Birdsong filled the air Butterflies and bees thronged and danced Nature thrummed and grew And all the while we frolicked there Quite unware of the carnage We were causing, as crushed Destroyed, returned to earth A myriad of lifeforms underfoot Screamed and died And in the nearby woods The cycle of life, red in tooth and claw Did tear apart small creatures there To ensure survival of the strong And a balance of the earth No kindness found in death and pain The cycle simply turned again All life, all death, around us moved As we, who loved, look deep into the others eyes And sighed, moved closer, drawn together A cycle of a different nature Sank down to lie on grass and life Which moved and lived and died beneath Our sun drenched bodies As we came together Desires and love did melt and merge The torture of longing So slow we moved, and life stood still All focussed in upon our will Bodies came alive as heaven and hell Descended upon our forms Alive upon that grassy knell The urge to rush interwined With pleasure pain, and the pain of pleasure Wanting it to last forever Lust and love, above below Focussed in upon us now We vibrated with a knowing of Life and death, coming, going Agonies of bliss did move Entering and entered prove That life has lost its edges now As little death and bigger life Scream though our beings Evermore, the planet turns ...

Assistant A Jariana Love Story Season 3 Chapter 2 *Days Later* Ariana's POV. After repeatedly going to sleep for an hour over an over until I had enough, I slumped to the bathroom and stripped down to nothing before stepping in the shower and pulling the curtain so if anyone walked in they wouldn't see me. I bent over twisting my hair in a towel then straightened wrapping my body in another towel. I went to my closet and dropped my towel to put this on- I sat down on my bed and crossed my legs, feeling the tears reappear in my eyes. I haven't been able to stop them since that day. I heard a faint tap at my door them my mom's head popped in. "Hi sweetie. How're you feeling?" she sat beside me on the bed "Mom, my heart hurts" I sniffled and she took me into her arms "It's just that we fight so much these days and I don't know what to do" mom looked down at me with a sad smile. "Baby, you will always come across rough patches like this in your relationships. But if the love is strong enough then you will always get through it" she rubbed my back soothingly. I pulled back to look at her face. Tears were now streaming down my face as I stared at her and the realization hit me. "But I don't think the love is strong enough this time" my voice was high pitched from the tears. I could bet anything that my eyes were tinged red from crying so much over the past days and my nose was constantly runny. She looked shocked at my words. I knew she took a liking to Justin; he was by far her favorite of all my boyfriends ...

Barack Obama vs. John Mccain: The Manchurian Candidate Barack Obama vs. John Mccain: The Manchurian Candidate. Keith Olbermann names Ann Coulter Worst Person in the World. -------------------------------------------- In the warped imagination of some on the left and right, this is a race between two Manchurian candidates, the Vietnam Manchurian candidate and the Muslim Manchurian candidate. (The Manchurian vibe thrummed today with the scoop by Scott Shane of The Times that military trainers in Gitmo had practiced techniques used by the Chinese Communists during the Korean War to wrest confessions, many false, from American prisoners.) This presidential race should be about how to fix the scary cascading crises in the country and the world. But as Obama offers himself as an avatar of modernity, the horizon fills with Swift boats against the current, and he is, Gatsby-like, "borne back ceaselessly into the past."

how to thrum This is a super-easy way to knit thrums into your mitten or slipper project. It's my first thrum project and I'm not finding it hard at all! It's as simple as this: Drop your working yarn. Insert your needle to knit. Use a 2 inch piece of unspun wool instead of yarn to knit the stitch. Pick your yarn back up for the next stitch, and knit on. On the next row/round, knit the thrums like regular stitches and give a little tug on the tails to tighten-up your thrums :)

The Sacrifice: Jelena Episode 5 COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE, AND LIKE PLEASE :) ============================================= Justin weaved into her mind and planted an image of Frankenstein, terror shuddered through her whole body. She then sucked in air a long moment, then let it out in sprays of laughter against Justin's cheek. "You're not a monster." She said while Justin moved through her memories. All of her thought were tangled net. Justin sensed she'd been drinking, her eyes were already dreamy and lost. It would be a crime against the Atroxinious to turn someone like her away, she was ready to cross over. "If you look too long in my eyes..." Justin paused while daring her. "you'll lose yourself." Justin smirked. Paula stared blissfully at him, her eyes saying 'Yes' as if she understood his unspoken offer. Then a sudden a white light flash made Justin leave her mind, but not before he read one last thought. She thought Justin handsome but also frightening. The danger and risk attracted her. The light flashed again and a boy dressed as a pirate held up a camera. "Gotcha." He squealed and ran off, a plastic parrot bobbing on his shoulder. "Do you go to my school?" Paula asked Justin, her attitude eager. "You look so familiar." Justin had already left his image in her memories. "I don't go to school," Justin answered. "I live on the streets in Hollywood." The girl looked at his confused. "Homeless?" She asked, he could feel her pity and interest. "No, Rebel." Justin smirked. " Paula's body thrummed and ...
