  • "Dynamite soup", the Erbswurst experiment. Horace Kephart has some things to say of Erbswurst in his book "Camping and Woodcraft," the chapter entitled "Concentrated Foods:" "It never spoils, never gets any "punkier" than it was at the beginning. The stick of erbswurst that you left undetected last year in the seventh pocket of your hunting coat will be just as good when you discover it again this year. Mice won't gnaw it; bugs can't get at it; moisture can't get into it. I have used rolls that had lain so long in damp places that they were all moldy outside, yet the food within was neither worse nor better than before. A pound of erbswurst, costing from thirty-two to forty cents, is about all a man can eat in three meals straight. Cheap enough, and compact enough, God wot! However, this little boon has a string attached. Erbswurst tastes pretty good to a hungry man in the woods as a hot noonday snack, now and then. It is not appetizing as a sole mainstay for supper on the same day. Next morning, supposing you have missed connections with camp, and have nothing but the rest of that erbswurst, you will down it amid storms and tempests of your own raising. And thenceforth, no matter what fleshpots you may fall upon, you will taste "dynamite soup" for a week. In its native land, this iron ration lost its popularity and was thrown out of the German army. Over here, we benighted wights keep on using it, or its American similitude, in emergencies, simply because we know of no better substitute, or because it is the ...

  • 10 Facts About Bombs - Francis Bailey - (poetry) This is a poem I wrote about 2 years ago that everyone's been asking me to upload. While it may be 2 years old, the subject matter is unfortunately still current and yeah, I think as many people as possible should hear it. It came about after a rather lengthy discourse with myself trying to understand the motivation behind war and serious conflict in particular how people just carry on their daily lives while other people die in vain; I'm talking about the civilian lives here... the collateral damage. It occurred to me that we have a misconception, a few actually, where it comes to bombs. That if we the 'good guys' drop them, they're good... that there's actually a thing as aiming so only the bad guys die and there's the fact that we're shielded from the true horrors of war and human suffering by the media we look at. Thenceforth, I tried to put what I was thinking about into 10 points... in the next half hour this is what followed. Please share this if you like it.
  • Apocrypha & Pseudepigrapha: Susanna www.sacred- Susanna is one of the additions to Daniel, considered apocryphal by Protestants, but included in the Book of Daniel (as chapter 13) by the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. It is listed in Article VI of the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Church of England. Jews do not include it in the Tanach. The main story is as follows: Susanna, ... the beautiful and pious wife of the rich Joacim (Joakim) of Babylon, walking in her garden, is seen by two elders, recently appointed judges, who, inflamed with lust, approach her with an infamous proposal, and, when repulsed, accuse her publicly of adultery. Brought before the tribunal, she is found guilty, and is led forth to execution; but at this moment Daniel, then a young lad, interposes and by a clever device shows the falsity of the accusers. These are put to death; Susanna is justified; and Daniel's reputation among the people is thenceforth very high. • Vancouver At Night - shot with the Canon HG10 The story of this: So I was in Vancouver.... I had intended to only pick up one thing there I had to buy and then go home after that. But then, I realized that the rest of my day would be spent doing nothing. So I took out my camcorder and thenceforth spent the next 3 hours roaming Vancouver, making this in the process. Enjoy it everyone! And yes, I did actually stand in the middle of the road during a red light to capture the shot at 1:20. I cleared the intersection safely before Broadway turned green, but not without getting more than a few honks from the other waiting cars!!! :P NOTICE ABOUT THE CANON HG10 AND 24P VIDEO: Many reviews have stated that the HG10's 24p video was unusable. This is false. The reviewers may have had trouble removing the pulldown from the AVCHD file format. Tthe HG10 shoots 24p in a 60i container with pulldown, however the frames aren't accurately flagged - if you don't know what "pulldown" is, google up "3:2 pulldown". There is a way to PROPERLY remove the pulldown with free software, which results in a pristine, high quality 1080x24p video file that is ready for editing in editors such as Sony Vegas. • An Illustrated History of Scientology CHAWKLIT REIGN Commentary on 3:35 -- "The results of applying [Dianetics] is to weaken the mind. The mind goes from a rational state to an irrational one as the delusional contents of the subconscious mind are brought to the surface and are assumed to be valid. It also makes a person more susceptible to suggestion since it submerges the critical thinking faculties of the mind into a partial subconscious state. It results in a permanent light hypnotic trance and so from thenceforth that person can be more easily controlled. The person will, to a much greater extent, believe and do whatever they are told. And of course this is used to the full in persuading them to hand over further money and dedicating themselves further to the cult. "The results of applying their oversimplified and inapplicable rules in life is to lose the ability to think rationally and logically. A person loses the ability to think for themselves and so they lose the ability to challenge incorrect ideas. This makes them easier to control. It also isolates and alienates the person from society so that they withdraw from normal society and into their 'Scientology' society. This further increases their susceptibility to the influence of their group. They end up being afraid of society, believing all society to be controlled by a group of drug companies, psychiatrists and financiers all of whom report to more remote masters. In other words they are in a state of mass paranoia ...

  • Monreale in Sicily 2008 After the occupation of Palermo by the Arabs in 831 the Bishop of Palermo was forced to move his seat outside the capital. The role of the new cathedral was assigned to a modest little church, Aghia Kiriaki in the village nearby which was later called Monreale. After the Norman conquest in 1072 Christians got back the old city cathedral. Probably this role as temporary ecclesiastical centre played a part in King William II's decision to build here his famous cathedral.[2] The town was for long a mere village, and start its expansion when the Norman Kings of Sicily chose the area as their hunting resort, building here a palace (probably identifiable with the modern Town Hall). Under King William II the large monastery of Benedictines coming from Cava de' Tirreni, with its church, was founded and provided with a large asset. It is noteworthy that the new edifice had also an important defensive destination. Monreale was the seat of the metropolitan archbishop of Sicily, which thenceforth exerted a large influence over Sicily. The Cathedral of Monreale is one of the greatest extant examples of Norman architecture in the world. It was begun in 1174 by William II, and in 1182 the church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, was, by a bull of Pope Lucius III, elevated to the rank of a metropolitan cathedral.

The pig was tired and stood near a tree. It was quickly killed by Tinnanar. They were tired, too, and thirsty. They proceeded towards the Ponmukali. Tinnanar wanted to climb the nearby mountain. Nanan, too, volunteered to follow him, saying that on that, the Kalahasthi hill, there was Lord Kudumithevar (God with a Tuft). Kadan was busy cooking the pork. As he saw the Lord there, he felt supreme love surging in his heart. He embraced the Lingam and kissed It. He began to shed tears of joy. Though he was reluctant to leave the Lord alone, he quickly came down the hill to fetch some food for the Lord. He took the best pieces of the pork, tasted them and ear-marked the very best for Him. • The Trap Part 1 Greetings world, we are Anonymous. Many ask the questions, "what is Scientology," and then soon after, "what's so wrong with it". Today, we'll be discussing the basics of this organization and the harm that it does to a person. Scientology is a confused concoction of crackpot, dangerously applied psychotherapy, oversimplified, idiotic and inapplicable rules and ideas and science-fiction drivel that is presented to its members (at the "advanced" levels) as profound spiritual truth. The results of applying their crackpot psychotherapy (called "auditing") is to weaken the mind. It also makes a person more susceptible to suggestion since it submerges the critical thinking faculties of the mind into a partial subconscious state. • Just by Zeno Marl [Better to VIEW IN HIGH QUALITY] Uplifting Poem on Hope after Adversity, the Re-Awakening of the Spirit Just As blue as genesis's new born sky, As golden as the sun's first tipped rays, As clear as crystal dew drops lie, Could I in youth see righteous ways; When people's paths had curved awry I saw the faults and knew too why. Thenceforth the vision of the knowing child Eclipsed before the whistling sigh Of tumult's tempest storming wild Driven hither thither cry. The tantrums of sweet child now biled, Furious blind fury riled. The darkness harrowed grim hazed days Have passed, as storms are wont. The milding Scene, a gentle washed out gazer Seeing beauty's sweet reviled. As a reborn man the world's a daze, Yet I see more, more glory to praise; Blue, as genesis's new-born sky, Golden, as the sun's first tipped rays, Sparkle, as the dew drops lie: Just sights around, abound, amaze. Zeno Marl Perhaps really this is just a poem of hope, as such, it is a simple expression of human sentimentality delivered with the clarity of the dew drop. Maybe it does not make sense, who writes what when, for this poem is incongruous in its blending of natural paganistic elements of re-birth and natural phenomena with evangelical concepts of justice and redemption. The irony is that the next cycle of the poet's suffering, failure, bereavement, and madness had not yet begun; this was no redemption but perhaps a reconciliation of the move from a rural identity to a sophisticated urbanite ...

  • Shrimad Vallabh Kaho SHRI VALLABHACHARYA Shri Vallabhacharya was born into a very noble and learned Brahmin family in South India in what is today called Andhra Pradesh. His ancestors had a very staunch religious background and included learned Brahmins like Shri Yagnanarayan Bhatt and Shri Ganapati Bhatt. They wrote several books on religion and devotion. Shri Vallabhacharya was the second son of Lakshman Bhatt and Yallammagaru. Their ancestors had performed several Soma-yagnas and Shri Lakshman Bhatt completed 100 Somyagnas. Shri Yagnanarayan was blessed by Lord Vishnu, that on completion of 100 Soma-yagnas, God himself would incarnate in his family. Thus when 100 Soma-yagnas were complete, Lakshman Bhatt went to Kashi to accomplish his vow of feeding 125000 Brahmins. He could not complete this task as there were political disturbances in Kashi. He took his pregnant wife Yallammagaru and on his way southwards he halted at a place called Champaranya. There, his wife gave birth to a still baby which they kept under a tree and proceeded ahead. On the same night Lakshman Bhatt heard a celestial voice ordering him to go back to the baby and pick it up as it was misunderstood to be a still born. That baby was no ordinary one, but by the grace of God, Shri Vallabh had taken birth through Yallammagaru's womb. On reaching the spot where they had kept the baby, they found the baby encircled by a divine fire as a protecting spirit. Shri Vallabh was a brilliant and extra-ordinary child. He finished ...

The Executive Execution of Constitutional Money (I'd love to go piss on Pres. Wilson's and FDR's graves. Executive Order 6102 required US citizens to deliver on or before May 1, 1933 all but a small amount gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 per troy ounce. Under the Trading With the Enemy Act of October 6, 1917, as amended on March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10000 ($166640 if adjusted for inflation as of 2008) or up to ten years in prison, or both. Order 6102 specifically exempted "customary use in industry, profession or art"--a provision that covered artists, jewelers, dentists, and sign makers among others. The order further permitted any person to own up to $100 in gold coins ($1664 if adjusted for inflation as of 2008; a face value equivalent to five troy ounces of Gold valued at $4800 as of 2009). The price of gold from the treasury for international transactions was thereafter raised to $35 an ounce. The value of the dollar was thenceforth determined by its value relative to other national currencies In other words after they confiscated American Citizens Gold they devalued the currency by 70%! • Lovely, An Encouragement for the Brethren in Christ Jesus Please share this with whomever you know who is in need of encouragement. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. Hebrews 12:14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Mark 9:50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. Matthew 5:13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. As "salt" we are to bring out the best in others...just as a little salt brings out the best flavors in food. Matthew 7:12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
  • Strings _ Anjane (Stranger) - Pakistani Band Band: Strings Song: Anjane (Stranger) Language: Urdu Country: Pakistan Strings: Strings: Strings is an internationally acclaimed Pakistani pop band comprising two members. The band was formed when four college students—Bilal Maqsood, Faisal Kapadia, Rafiq Wazir Ali and Kareem Bashir Bhoy—decided to form a band in 1988 in Karachi. In 1992, the quartet disbanded only to make a comeback with two of its members, Bilal and Faisal later in 2000. While the initial band was riding on the new wave of Pakistani pop music, the later formation ushered a new revival in the music industry of Pakistan. Kapadia and Maqsood followed in the footsteps of Junoon and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and took their act across the border to India only to realise they already were a recognised band in the country as remixes of one of their earliest songs were played in clubs. As ambassadors for Pakistani pop music, the duo set out to conduct concerts all over the world thenceforth. Acclaimed world over for their stringed rhythms, their songs are praised not only for being melodious but having a strong poetic sense to them. Penned by Anwar Maqsood, Bilal's father, the lyrics of their songs always carry a deep meaning with them. Anwar has been writing lyrics for the band since its re-formation. Where Kapadia is the lead vocalist for the band, Maqsood acts as the composer, guitarist and at times does vocals for a few songs. To play live at concerts, both the members have hired Adeel on the lead guitar, Shakir ...

  • The Fire of Driftwood The Fire of Drift-Wood Published 1850, by Longfellow We sat within the farm-house old, Whose windows, looking o'er the bay, Gave to the sea-breeze damp and cold, An easy entrance, night and day. Not far away we saw the port, The strange, old-fashioned, silent town, The lighthouse, the dismantled fort, The wooden houses, quaint and brown. We sat and talked until the night, Descending, filled the little room; Our faces faded from the sight, Our voices only broke the gloom. We spake of many a vanished scene, Of what we once had thought and said, Of what had been, and might have been, And who was changed, and who was dead; And all that fills the hearts of friends, When first they feel, with secret pain, Their lives thenceforth have separate ends, And never can be one again; The first slight swerving of the heart, That words are powerless to express, And leave it still unsaid in part, Or say it in too great excess. The very tones in which we spake Had something strange, I could but mark; The leaves of memory seemed to make A mournful rustling in the dark. Oft died the words upon our lips, As suddenly, from out the fire Built of the wreck of stranded ships, The flames would leap and then expire. And, as their splendor flashed and failed, We thought of wrecks upon the main, Of ships dismasted, that were hailed And sent no answer back again. The windows, rattling in their frames, The ocean, roaring up the beach, The gusty blast, the bickering flames, All mingled vaguely in our ...
  • Pretty Amazing Grace Neil Diamond From 'Home Before Dark'. What Neil had to say about the album: "The whole process was exhausting and exhilarating at the same time, but you can now listen to the results at your leisure and hopefully your pleasure. As for me, I came out of it with twelve beautifully crafted recordings and a new nickname - courtesy of guitarist Mike Campbell - who dubbed me "The Basher" for my no-holds-barred guitar playing technique. I took it in the best way possible; my enthusiastic self, expressed through my beating on the old Martin guitar I used faithfully for every song. I finally had a nickname I could wear proudly. Thenceforth, I was the unabashed "basher"; the passionate, over the top player who felt truly accepted by these talented musicians as one of them. I was breathless and thrilled by the journey's end and owe big thanks to my fellow travelers for helping me get these songs off my chest and on the record where they can be shared by all." "I live and die a little with each song" NEIL DIAMOND
  • UFO 'S OVER FRANCE !! UNEXPLAINED SHAPE !! Marriage in the Lord 1612 The nuptial covenant between God and his people Israel had prepared the way for the new and everlasting covenant in which the Son of God, by becoming incarnate and giving his life, has united to himself in a certain way all mankind saved by him, thus preparing for "the wedding-feast of the Lamb."104 1613 On the threshold of his public life Jesus performs his first sign - at his mother's request - during a wedding feast.105 The Church attaches great importance to Jesus' presence at the wedding at Cana. She sees in it the confirmation of the goodness of marriage and the proclamation that thenceforth marriage will be an efficacious sign of Christ's presence. 1614 In his preaching Jesus unequivocally taught the original meaning of the union of man and woman as the Creator willed it from the beginning permission given by Moses to divorce one's wife was a concession to the hardness of hearts.106 The matrimonial union of man and woman is indissoluble: God himself has determined it "what therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder."107 1615 This unequivocal insistence on the indissolubility of the marriage bond may have left some perplexed and could seem to be a demand impossible to realize. However, Jesus has not placed on spouses a burden impossible to bear, or too heavy - heavier than the Law of Moses.108 By coming to restore the original order of creation disturbed by sin, he himself gives the strength and grace to live marriage in the ...

  • cattedrale di monreale.sicily italy Monreale is a town and comune in the province of Palermo, in Sicily, Italy, on the slope of Monte Caputo, overlooking the very fertile valley called "La Conca d'oro" (the Golden Shell), famed for its orange, olive and almond trees, the produce of which is exported in large quantities. The town has a population of approximately 30000, and it is located 15 km (12 mi) south of Palermo. After the occupation of Palermo by the Arabs in 831 the Bishop of Palermo was forced to move his seat outside the capital. [edit] The Cathedral The Cathedral of Monreale is one of the greatest ...
