  • Espresso Guide: Long Black aka Americano The long black (also known as the Americano). It's simply espresso dropped into hot water. By default (ie. without even asking my guests) I dissolve half a metric teaspoon of sugar into about 150ml of water to balance the flavours. A ristretto shot is then pulled on top of the hot water. The crema floats on top. Since sugar has already been added, and ___ the ristretto shot is neither sour nor bitter ___, you do not need to add sugar before consuming the drink (none of my guests seem to ask for more sugar). The first few mouthfuls are very very tasty and full of body and aromatics from the floated crema. Even the rest of the coffee has that beautiful mouthfeel from the ristretto shot. This is what distinguishes a long black from other brewed coffees. It's all about having that body and mouthfeel that is absent in drip coffee. Just note that some coffees are better brewed in a french press or chemex as too much body can be a bad thing sometimes. Some coffees taste better as a "clean cup" of coffee. This was not a perfect americano, the ristretto shot was not properly tamped and the crema showed signs of streaking (uneven tamp? uneven dose/distribution?). Regardless, this is what I typically drink in the morning. Not every shot is a god shot and while the shot above had some flaws, it was still plenty tasty and minimally bitter/sour.

  • Plastic Cup Glass Cone Shaped Charge Explosion Well this determines it. You do need some kind of metal walled container for a shaped charge to work properly unless you have a very high VOD explosive. Otherwise, it doesn't focus the cone into a high speed jet of material. In this one I replaced the steel pipe with an upside down plastic cup. It didn't blow a hole in the steel, but it still made a huge shockwave which I felt strongly over my whole body. Used about 300g ANNMAl.

  • 100g ANNMAL Water Tamp Explosion on Pipe, on Stump. I wanted to compare 100g annmal on a pipe to 100g annmal on a pipe with a water tamp to see just how much more damage it would cause. Not only did it almost blow the pipe in half, but it shredded the tree stump I put it on, and a large area of ground around it. It would take 700g or more to do that without a tamp (see my 1100g annmal video). In the near future, I will compare the damage of plain annmal, water tamped annmal, and sand tamped annmal, using the ratio from vvideoupl.
