FDA to Require Sunscreen Makers to Remove "Waterproof" Claims from Bottle In an attempt to simplify sunscreen choices and eliminate bogus claims, the Food and Drug Administration is requiring sunscreen makers to test their products against both UVA and UVB rays. It will also put an end to marketing slogans such as "sweat-proof" or "waterproof," and products with SPF 15 or lower will include a warning label that they won't prevent skin cancer. Shep spoke to Dr. Philippa Cheetham of Columbia University Medical Center who said, "The problem with sunscreen is that we don't use enough of it."
