We are motivated by what we can call," the sense of artist's social responsibility" to abandon the traditional spaces of exhibiting and performance, to activate our artistic practice in the street with all its variables and to have more contact with all categories of the society. We aim to support a positive social transformation through an artistic practice that develops the mechanisms of contemporary arts to go out of the state of stagnancy surrounding them and to involve more members of the society in the artistic process. • Design In Progress - Noticeboard (Behind the Scenes) About Design In Progress: The power of design and the entity of design itself has come a long way, should we say, since the birth of time and it transcends everything else that exist. Today, however, we shall be shining new light on this subject called 'design'. We'll apply design thinking, something that's forsaken by the public eye, and in turn use it in various ways as a catalyst of change. Design itself has never reached stagnancy and just like the three topics that we're tackling, namely social, environmental and health, we will never see an absolute solution to these problems. Design in Progress is an event that will display our approaches in addressing our various issues, what roles do us communication designers play, and how are we applying our apprehension of progress into our three topics. We are a bunch of bubbly undergraduates from RMIT Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) in Singapore. Design In Progress 2011 Singapore signinprogress.sg Music: Diane Birch - Valentino

  • Yijinjing Practice Yinjinjing (Changing Tendons Qingqong) is a form of fitness exercise handed down from ancient China. According to folklore, this manoeuvre aims at strengthening the muscles and tendons. In Chinese, "yi" means change, "jin" means tendons and sinews, while "jing" means method. By "yijinjing" it means the exercise of this manoeuvre can turn flaccid and frail tendons and sinews into strong and sturdy ones. Yijinjing (Changing Tendons Qigong) pays great attention to the co-ordinated exercise of the movements, respiration and determination so as to guarantee that qi circulates and flows appropriately without such abnormal phenomena as tardiness, haste, obstruction and stagnancy. • Siapakah Ibn Taimiyah? Ibn Taimiyah was a famous Muslim scholar born in Harran, located in what is now Turkey, close to the Syrian border. He lived during the troubled times of the Mongol invasions. As a member of the school founded by Ibn Hanbal, he sought the return of Islam to its sources, the Qur'an and the Sunnah. He studied jurisprudence from his father and became a representative of the Hanbali school of thought. Though he remained faithful throughout his life to that school, whose doctrines he had decisively mastered, he also acquired an extensive knowledge of the Islamic disciplines of the Qur'an and the Hadith. He also studied theology (kalam), philosophy, and Sufism, which he later rejected. He also refuted the Shia Raafidah as well as the Christians. His student Ibn ul-Qayyim al Jawziyyah authored the famous poem "O Christ-Worshipper" which unapologetically examined the dogma of the Trinty propounded by many Christian sects. Ibn Taymiyyah rejected the recourse to kalam towards understanding the Asma Wa Sifat (Divine Names and Attributes of God) as that was not the precedence established by the salaf. He argued that the companions and the early generations didn't resort to philosophical explanations towards understanding the Divine Names and Attributes. He further argued that had salaf found any benefit in resorting to Kalam they would have done it and encouraged it. Therefore, Ibn Taymiyyah was accused by his opponents albeit speciously that he was anthropomorphic in his stance ...

  • How to Break through a CREATIVE BLOCK Make $$$$$$$$ with your PASSION: bit.ly Sometimes I just feel downright lazy, unproductive, and like a complete loser. I feel like I'm wasting my time and that I'm dishonoring my passions, talents, the work that's important to me. Anyone that's dealing with anything at least remotely creative knows what I speak of. Writers call it "writer's block." And I guess a painter would call it "painter's block?" Being a naturally contemplative, calm, meditative, and take-it-easy sort of dude, I can appreciate what it means to constantly take a step back from your work, whatever it may be, and allow the mind to settle and the creative energies to reform. If it wasn't for these sort of meditative breaks of calm, tranquility, and relaxation, I wouldn't be who I am as many artists wouldn't be able to do what they do. But sometimes we go overboard and what starts out to be a nice little break from our passions becomes a stagnancy and laziness creeps in little by little each passing day that we aren't doing what we love. Perhaps we're scared. Perhaps we feel that it's too hard to make our mark on the world with so many other people out there. Perhaps we've lost confidence in ourselves. Perhaps all of these things. When this happens a wall is erected between or passion and ourselves. We become cut off from our own art. Art being the product of our creativity. Artist being one who creates — painter, programmer, accountant, writer, etc. To be more exact, one who creates with love and ...
  • WWE Tough Enough Theme (2011): Custom TV Edit ****FYI - While I do like this song in particular, I don't agree with WWE's decision to use this as a theme song for a weekly show. I don't think it fits. WWE going "mainstream" with the likes of Chris Brown, Green Day, Kevin Rudolf and Nickelback is a pathetic attempt by the company to retain its' cool factor, something which it has lost over the years due to stagnancy and the emergence of mixed-martial-arts. That said, enjoy the video!**** Me editing "Champion" by Chipmunk (featuring Chris Brown), the 2011 WWE Tough Enough theme song, and how I think WWE will edit it for television. I haven't seen any attempts at this, so I thought I'd try it and give my take on what WWE's edit will/should be. I didn't use any part of the audio from the commercials. Notice the lack of sound effects/James A. Johnson cues. All I used was the sound file from the album and Audacity. This is a 100% self-effort edit. Check it out and let me know what you think. Check out WWE Tough Enough on USA Network every Monday at 8 pm EST / 5 pm PST. Props to Chipmunk and Chris Brown for providing the official theme song. I know there's been some backlash, but...I dig it. It grows on you.
  • Perceiving Time Video made by us for an Arts project. The beating sounds, that consistent beat, are time itself; what we hear is what time actually is. What we see in the video represent our mindset of time; what we feel time is like. It shows how it can be slow, stagnant or fast, not consistent like the beats. With that the stacking of the rocks then represent the balancing of the different mindsets. It isn't good to have too much of one or the other but is better to find the perfect balance.
  • WWE Smackdown (2010) Theme: Custom Edit ****FYI - While I do like Green Day and this song in particular, I don't agree with WWE's decision to use this as a theme song for a weekly show. I don't think it fits. WWE going "mainstream" with the likes of Green Day, Kevin Rudolf and Nickelback is a pathetic attempt by the company to retain its' cool factor, something which it has lost over the years due to stagnancy and the emergence of mixed-martial-arts. That said, enjoy the video!**** Me editing "Know Your Enemy" by Green Day, the WWE Smackdown theme song. I haven't seen too many true attempts at this, so I thought I'd try it. When I say "true" attempts, I mean just that. I didn't use any part of the audio from the actual show. All I used was the sound file from the album and Audacity. This is a 100% self-effort edit. Check it out and let me know what you think. I do not own the images seen or audio heard in this video. All proper credit goes to their respective owners. Check out WWE Smackdown! on SyFy every Friday at 8 pm EST / 5 pm PST. Props to Green Day for providing the official theme song, "Know Your Enemy" which, despite the negative feedback so far, is a good song in general...just not as a weekly wrestling show theme song.
  • Projekt AK debut album FUNKdeMENTAL listening preview FUNKdeMENTAL is a debut album by my project band called Projekt AK, in which I play the guitar. The name of the band itself (always misspelled as Project AK) has a long and intricate history, from the circa 1994 the Malaysian so-called underground scene.. This album's line-up is purely formed by jamming buddies whom just enjoyed our inner-funk and grooved it all out during various jamming sessions in 2003-2007. Two of us were from the mainstream bands at that time, Andy from Flop Poppy and me (Syahmi) from D-Va. We were just blasting out our music like no one's business. The stagnancy in local music industry at that time might be a lil' hurt. It made us proud of what we were doing back then, and pushed us to put a stamp on somewhat never ending trends, never ending stupidity that might hurt our brains as musicians. We finally took our bits and chunks of music seriously, and begun to put em' into record. The recording process started in 2006 (or 2007?) at my studio, the MajestY Studio (various MajestYs.. some said the studios never existed). Engineered by my own hands, this album enjoyed a luxury of take-yer-time studio hours, multiple long breaks, while it's breaking some of the physics of audio schools. Still, this album carries a lot of souls, despite its very down to earth and minimal equipment setup. Eventually, last New Year's eve (2011 in Langkawi), the album had physically out, on the sandy beach of Pantai Chenang, carries itself in the real case, (no more marker ...
  • Vader - Vicious Circle From the album "The Ultimate Incantation" (1992). Lyrics: Necromancer, the rites of dementia, See what the death looks like, Souls from the limbo, coming with eternal flames, Arrive in circles of trembling hands. No inferno but also no heavens, No god on his golden throne, Promised Eden turned into desert, Empty space and dead remains. Spectral mouth tells hopeless truth, In unknown words massacring the mind, There is nothing after life, What we can imagine now and here. Infinitely full of posthumous nothing, Greed for immorality, Is only despair now, Caught in the waiting for nowhere, Selling the souls for oblivions price, "I must be immortal". Nocturnal stagnancy as I burn my candles, Sanity now dozes and waits for a day, Nightmares in their real dimensions, No hope now... Soon I will die... No inferno but also no heavens, No god on his golden throne, Promised Eden turned into desert, Empty space and dead remains.
