Family going to the Chillicothe, MO annual fly-in. Flying our Cessna 172 (N7114T) Picked the family up at 06MO early in the morning to fly to Chillicothe. The temp/dew point spread was minimal and I did pick up some carb ice (engine sputtered) on the way to pick them up that morning. Of course carb heat saved the day and we had no further problems.

I thought a spark plug had fouled, but after removing the cylinder head after the race, there was a hair crack in the dome of the head. The sputtering was the coolant mixing with the gasses. Sleigh Ride/The Glenn Miller Orchestra It's been almost 66 years since the immortal Glenn Miller disappeared just before Christmas on December 15, 1944. His Orchestra, in the too-short run under his personal leadership, had recorded only one Christmas song ("Jingle Bells", October 20, 1941). Dedicated fans around the world are certain that, had he lived through World War II, he would have recorded a complete album of the best-loved music of the holiday season. The idea for a Christmas album was planted on the Glenn Miller Orchestra bus in the late 1960s. Dale Thompson and Richy Barz, then members of the road band (Buddy DeFranco was the leader), were sitting next to each other. As often happened, the conversation got around to "What-do-you-think-Glenn-would-be-recording-now-if-he-was-still-around?" stage. One or the other sputtered, "How about an album of Christmas songs?" It didn't happen then, but two decades later, Richard Wilhoyte, one of the hordes of Glenn Miller buffs around the world, heard about it all from Dale. His instant reaction: "Let's do it...now!" Abstract The use of Nb/Cu cavity at CERN for the LEP and at the INFN-LNL for Alpi Linac has demonstrated the possibility to use this technology for particles accelerators to substitute the more expensive technology of niobium bulk cavity. The limit of the Nb/Cu cavity is the Q-slope, which decreases the Q factor at high accelerating fields. The accelerators community supposes that it's possible to eliminate, or to decrease, the problem of Q-slope with high pure films of sputtered niobium. One way to obtain pure films is to decrease the number of impurities enclosed in the growing film. It's possible to reduce the number of impurities when the sputtering rate process increases. We study the possibility to enhance the plasma density in order to increase the sputtering rate and then reduce the impurities in the niobium sputtered film and finally obtain high pure films. In order to enhance the plasma density we sputter the niobium target with high currents to heat it and get to thermoionic emission. This sputtering method is called high rate sputtering. First results of Niobium coatings will be presented.

The pump is capable of pumping the tube down within 5 seconds so a valve (between pump and tube) is used to show different plasma displays. At maximum vacuum fast particles hit the sealing on the left side and so some sparks occur. You can also see sputtered material from the cathode (left) glowing orange when hit by electrons as well as the teal fluorescence of the tube itself. I will remove this video soon.

My F18T8 Fluorescent Tubes failing They have Magnetic Ballasts with a Valve (Glow) Starter. Also known as Switch start (Preheat if you're from North America). The first tubes on my dining table are ones that still worked and they are two Osram Whites that are from 2004. One is from 2008 and is a GE Polylux Warm White which is although supposed to last 20000 hours, its old Ballast had difficulty starting it but it hasn't gone into Failure Mode yet. The dark one is from 2000 (oldest of all working ones) and it is a Sylvania White that still works because its Ballast keeps managing to start it first time because it's used to it. There are two working F8T5s in the background; one in my Kitchen and one in my Laundry Boiler Room and are Polylux Extra Warm Whites and are from between 2006 and 2007 and are GE Polylux Extra Warm White. The first Flickering one is a Hombase Essentials White which had the shortest life expectancy (7000 hours) of all F18T8s and was brand new in 2006 and is above the Kettle, the scecond is obove the Microwave and is a Sylvania Warm White from 2003. The third is the same as the second and is above the Bread Maker and Slow Cooker. The fourth is the oldest Failing F18T8 of all from 2000 and is a Sylvania White in my Laundry Boiler Room. As I was going upstairs, sorry about the Xmas Decorations (look at the Record Date), and the last Flickering one is from 2007, a GE Polylux Warm White, and the last one of all F18T8s was another GE Polylux Warm White from 2008. Cat, go to I saw an amazing football game today -- my own Eastern Washington University Eagles versus the North Dakota State Bisons in "the Inferno," our red-turf football field. Within a few minutes we were up by 14 points, but from there on we struggled. In the mean time the day darkened and snow began to fall. Toward the end we were down by seven points, pinned back to our own end zone, short our injured star running back, and depending on a passing game that had sputtered all day long. We were goners. But then, miraculously, we hit some passes, converted two fourth down plays, and scored the tying points. Really Powerful R-candy Rocket Tests These were three rockets using 3 different fuels based on sugar and KNO3. 1st using just plain KNO3 and Sugar Fuel 2nd using the same fuel with 5g of Sulfur added. 3rd using the same fuel with 5g of Sulfur and 10g of Aluminium Added. They were all stable burns though the smoke trail on the third test was very unstable and sputtered.

My Model train Layout - Train X-173 Watch as we follow military cargo train, X-173, at points across my layout, from shortyly after leaving the yard to arrviing at the base where it will be unloaded. getting the video footage took 3-4 hrs, had to take all the tanks and trucks and things from area's on the layout and rubberband them onto train cars, then find a good camera position, and then record n power up the train. but not everytime does the train just smoothly roll by, many times the train derailed or sputtered or stopeed from bad/dirty track area, so i'd have to pull train back and record again and try n fix the problem, weather it was cleaning tht area of track, or the engine wheels, or fixing a rough track connection. and not every area on the layout looks so clean and perfect w/ a back drop, once i find a good cam position, i will take details/backdrops from other area's of the layout n move them into the camera view to make it look as reilistic as possible. weather its adding tree's or bush/shrubage, or fixing up the/adding track ballast, or road gravel. and then it took another hour to put together the video, cutting each video down only to show the footage of train going by, transitions, effects, enhancing color, text, adding sounds from some real train video's of mine, and then its goes on here for all my subscribers and any other train entusiests, enjoy, if u enjoyed this one check out all of my video's.

There were a few people relaxing in cafes, simply enjoying the lovely warmth of the long yearned for sunshine, or involved in a quiet conversation. The most prominent noise came from the birds high up in the air, which sputtered with liveliness, busily securing their continuance... The ground felt nice, strange but welcoming. The asphalt had given up under the force of climate (extreme heat in summer as well as extreme cold in winter) on some passages. It had literally broken up, leaving rough edges, which made a nice difference to the silky feeling of tiles and the bumpiness of cobblestones. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw.
