Sea Life Species of Finding Nemo Just because I felt like sharing knowledge and pretty pictures with fellow fans, here's a little slideshow presentation of Finding Nemo characters and their real-life counterparts!* (Pausing to read and/or get a better look may well be necessary.) For good measure I tossed in a few attempts at Shark Tale character IDs as well, plus a long string of additional fishes at the end (many of my favorite marine species. Don't even get me started on freshwater too. xD) Oh, DEAR. Even on fullscreen, I didn't realize how un- (or just barely) readable many of the images would be when uploaded. Tsk. Well, if you wanna know what something says, just ask, I suppose.. (*Due to my obsessive love for animation, tropical fishes, and some of the voice actors, plus every aspect of the film itself, this movie drove me slightly more insane than I already was.)

Inside Story - Saving endangered species It is the 15th meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Some call them the Conservation Olympics - two weeks of debate and voting on trade in endangered animals. From tuna to elephants, from tigers to sharks, 23000 species come under the spotlight. Who are the winners and losers? And are wholesale trade bans the best way to save our species?

Non-hominid CSI? Identifying species using tracking tunnels, footprints and computers James Russell and Reinhard Klette discuss the use of pattern recognition technology to identify the geographical distributions of species, by using tracking cards and tunnels. Their research, just published in the journal Ecology, represents a cheap and non-labour intensive way of assessing the spatial patterns of species in their environments.

Invasive Species Killing Hawaiian Rainforest African Tulip and other invasives species are killing native Hawaiian rainforest. The African Tulip was brought to Hawaii by Hana Hotel many years ago and quickly spread down wind into pristine rainforest. When you cut the tree down, each branch grows a new tree plus its flowers send thousands of spores into the wind, the rivers and now the forest is orange. Miconia, bamboo and wild pigs, goats, cows and deer eat native underbrush causing irreversable damage to native plants. Many of these plants are used for cultural practices of hula and la'aulapa'au, organic healing medicines. State efforts to rid the forest have fallen short and thousands of acres are now being assaulted with Ohia and Koa being choked out. Western culture, theft and cultural rape of the land create a genocide of Hawaiian culture, forests and oceans and people. Have a nice holiday.

STUPID PEOPLE - human gender the most intelligent species in the World ? WHITE RHINO - Species Spotlight The Rhino is one Africa's Big Five. The white rhino is the largest of the remaining 5 species of rhinoceros. They are divided into the southern and northern white rhinos. It is thought the northern rhino is extinct in the wild due to poaching, and only a handful remain in captivity. Some research shows the southern wild population numbers around 11000, but the IUCN red list list shows over 17000. At any rate, even though the white rhino has the largest numbers of any of the rhino species, it still is endangered and needs our help. (On a side note-the IUCN recently took the Asian greater one horned rhino of the endangered red list, but I along with others feel it is still needs the protection given by that status) There are over 700 white rhinos in captivity world wide. The rhino is one of the few larger animals that can be introduced into the wild. Meaning a captive born white or black rhino could make its way to Africa. Recently in October 2008, a white rhino was born via artificial insemination at the Budapest Zoo. Even with protection they can still be legally trophy hunted in areas of South Africa. I find this to be counter productive with all the time and money going into increasing their numbers. I think we have to get it into our mind set that ALL rhinos need not to be killed. *They can also be green hunted in which a tranquilizer gun is used to and the hunter gets a picture next to their "kill." These are less expensive, but not as popular as a regular hunt. The ...

'Flagship Species' Lions and Tigers- Big Cat TV A flagship species is one chosen to represent an environmental cause. And often we see lions and tigers used in promotion and advertising. And these are the two species used the most to produce cubs for the industry as well, and there are ethics matters that come into play with that. There are an estimated 41 species of felines out there and by protecting enough habitat for lions and tigers we then save habitat for all the lesser known cats as well. Big Cat Rescue is committed in not only giving our residents the best life possible but we also support saving wild habitat. Big Cat Rescue is a proud supporting member of the International Tiger Coalition, Snow Leopard Trust, among other feline conservation efforts. *More on flagship species: www.fauna- For more info about BIG CAT RESCUE visit Find us on FACEBOOK MYSPACE: TWITTER: DONATE: THANK YOU!

JAGUAR - Species Spotlight JAGUAR (Panthera Onca) The jaguar is the Americas largest feline predator. This endangered cat (estimated population= +/-10000) has one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom which it uses to crush the skull of its prey. The jaguar is often confused with the leopard which lives in Asia and Africa. The black jaguar is very rare. In jaguars, the melanism is dominant and in leopards the color mutation is recessive. Melanism is the occurence of an increased amount of dark pigmentation. Some feel the black coloring of jaguars and leopards seems to take place more when it helps the cat to be dark such as in dense forest and jungles. Threats to this amazing cat include habitat loss and fragmentation of its range. While international trade in jaguars and their parts is illegal, the cat is still regularly killed by humans, particularly in conflicts with ranchers in Central and South America. On February 25, 2009 a regular colored spotted Jaguar (Macho B) was caught, radio-collared and released in southwest Arizona. Sadly, on March 2, 2009, was recaptured and euthanized after he was found to be suffering from kidney failure. Macho B seemed to be the only Jag that was seen in the US in some time. Some feel that the stress from the captures and sedation caused his weak kidney to fail. It is always risky to knock out a big cat. The United States/Mexico barrier wall will reduce the viability of any population currently residing in the United States. In January 2008 United ...

Invasive Species Removal - Giant reed spreading in Sabino Canyon Volunteers are trying to get rid of an invasive plant that's been destroying many natives in one of Southern Arizona's most popular tourist attractions. Arundo donax, commonly known as giant reed, has been spreading quickly in the riparian areas of Sabino Canyon, endangering endemic species such as mesquite, ash trees and the button willow shrub. The grass is one of the fastest-growing land plants in the world, up to four inches a day, and consumes much more water than Sonoran desert plants. Members of the Sabino Arundo Team are working on a three-year plan with the US Forest Service and other groups to try to remove this plant and keep it from coming back. Some of the areas where it's been taken out are already undergoing a positive biological transformation. Aired on Arizona Illustrated, KUAT TV (Oct 2009) © 2007, 2008 Arizona Public Media®

Alien Anatomy, Species, & Genetics (part 2) I am going to condense part 1 and 2 into a (Director's Cut) also, which just goes over Straight Genetics without going off on random tangents... I think I should make a separate video which goes over Disinformation and Propaganda in explicit detail... Google: Edward Bernays and Walter Lippman for intelligent reading materials on these subjects! Based on the theory of evolution by the means of Natural Selection, there would have to exist a mechanism within the ecological system that would insure the survival of only the most intelligent of a species. Something that would kill off only the stupidest members of the group! Without such a mechanism there is no way for intelligent life to evolve There are about 900 thousand different types of insects in the world, and more are discovered every year! None of them show signs of intelligence. 300 million years of dinosaur evolution and not one velociraptor ever built a computer or an airplane Which means no intelligent dinosaurs, & no lizard people On the other hand if humans or another intelligent species like them were to evolve in a society with complete freedom of genetic experimentation, the evolutionary paragon would be something very similar to an alien Grey what we would think of as a typical alien. The rest of this video is dedicated to exposing the logical fallacies of people who believe in Reptilians. Ill go over why this disinformation is so popular that I actually felt I had to waste my time making a video about it ...

This video is a tribute to her and another wonderful season of Trueblood.
