Impressions of the 25th anniversary event of "Spacelab D1", October, 28th, 2010, Stuttgart, Germany On October,28th,2010, I visited an event to the 25th anniversary of the Space Shuttle flight STS-61-A ("Spacelab D1") at the University of Stuttgart-Vaihingen in Germany. On October,30th,1985, the Space Shuttle "Challenger", flight STS-61-A, also named "Spacelab D1", launched from Cape Canaveral with the crew Henry Hartsfield, Steven Nagel, Guion Bluford, James Buchli, Bonnie Dunbar, Ernst Messerschmid, Reinhard Furrer and Wubbo Ockels into space. The highlight of the flight was to dedicate the German Spacelab. The flight finished with the landing in Edwards Air Force Base in California on November, 6th,1985. Five crew members of this flight, the astronauts Henry Hartsfield, Steven Nagel, Guion Bluford, Bonnie Dunbar and Ernst Messerschmid and the further astronauts Linda Godwin and Ulf Merbold attended at the jubilee performance in Stuttgart and reported about the "Spacelab D1" mission and beyond. It was really interesting to listen to their experiences in space and it was impressive as well to meet these astronauts in person. This movie shows impressions about this beautiful STS-61-A anniversary performance at the Campus of the University of Stuttgart-Vaihingen in Germany.

Nights in the Spacelab 19 It's the announcement of my first demo "album," coming soon for free download. And yes, it based on the comic book epic "Trial of Galactus," which was the first comic I ever bought. (It's still one of the best I've ever read.) This piece is not on the album, it's just more soloing and enjoying that Moog tone. Watch for a new site coming soon, I might just start posting music instead of videos... Stay tuned!

Kraftwerk - Spacelab From The Man Machine album

Nights in the Spacelab 27 This is a pretty relaxed series of beats and echoes on the Korg EMX and Korg Electribe S MK II drum machines. My computer recently broke, and therefore I had a friend videotape using a Flip Video recorder which has poor sound quality.. Anyone designing a video-game out there? More updates coming soon!

Astronaut Ernst Messerschmid returns to Spacelab - 25 years after the D1 mission Drops of orange juice that transform into cubes, astronauts sliding back and forth on a sled in zero gravity, repeated glimpses of the blue globe below. The images that reached Earth from the D1 Spacelab mission are spectacular even today. The first German mission, it was launched on 30 October 25 years ago from Cape Canaveral. Space Shuttle Challenger carried the European research laboratory, Spacelab, which looked like a gigantic metal can from the outside, packed full of technology on the inside. It was crewed by the astronauts Ernst Messerschmid, Reinhard Furrer and Wubbo Ockels, sent into orbit to perform almost 80 experiments in a state of weightlessness.

Road to the Stars - Doroga k zvezdam (1958) Kraftwerk - Spacelab A small clip of 1958 soviet sci-fi film and documentary by Pavel Klushantsev. The music comes from, well you know....Kraftwerk, from "The Man Machine" (1958): "Spacelab". All the times i listen to this piece i imagine scenes like the ones in this film!!! I hope you like it! theremin performance of Ernesto Mendoza playing spacelab of kraftwerk Mexican musician Ernesto Mendoza performs spacelab of kraftwerk in Mexico City on july 29, 2010, he uses one of the oldest electronic devices (probably the first one) called theremin. This device produces an emotive and singular sound, so original, for some people its similar to strings.

Nights in the Spacelab 26 Here is an extended jam on two drum machines, due to requests for longer pieces of music. (Mike Millen, this one is for you.) The original is posted as "Nights in the Spacelab 23" Thanks to Youtube, I recently discovered something amazing - if you connect two Korg drum machines with a midi cable (In my case, the Korg Electribe EMX and the Korg Electribe S MkII) they will be in sync provided one is set to "external midi clock," as a subordinate. No doubt, more experienced people are laughing at me for this 'discovery' (it's so obvious, it's like this whole point of these machines) but I never knew until now. I liked adding more drums to this piece, especially around 3:37! Thanks everyone for watching and there are more coming soon...

Nights in the Spacelab 8: the Moog LP More keyboard stuff, with Moog Little Phatty and Korg ESX drum machine. Dedicated to Ronald Jenkees as usual.

Nights in the Spacelab #1 A solo and jam on the Moog "little phatty" and Korg SX drum machine. Some elements are pre-recorded on a multi-track. I wish I could play like Ronald Jenkees, but this is what I can do for now! :) (Recorded in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, May 26.) Watch for more beats coming soon...
