UFO Video Enhancement Series - The 1998 "Somerset" UFO Footage This particular segment (or segments, rather) of footage we will be looking at in this presentation involves a UFO sighting that occurred on July 4th, 1998 just outside of the town of Somerset in southwest England, filmed by a man named Rod Dickinson. As always, the enhancements shown here were built from the highest quality copy of the source footage that I was able to obtain. Unfortunately in this case, I was not able to acquire a complete unedited copy of the raw Somerset footage to work with, and it is my understanding that Mr. Dickinson is no longer in possession of the original raw tape. This forced me to use a segmented copy taken from a UFO documentary in which the raw footage had already been broken apart and edited into several short highlight clips. This fact has most definitely negatively influenced the quality and quantity of visual data available for enhancement. As you will see, the raw footage of this UFO encounter clearly suffers from significant camera shake/instability issues. In fact, I have to say that this is the shakiest, most unstable UFO video footage I have ever personally ***yzed. These already brutal instability issues are further magnified by the fact that the raw copy of the footage I was forced to use as the Alpha source file appears to have been subjected to some level of video compression, which, thanks to the brutal amount of shake, creates significant interpolation blurring and frame "ghosting" being introduced/amplified. The late afternoon run of King Edward I should have been double-headed in the company of 5029, but the Castle had been delayed by a clinkered grate and could not recover in sufficient time to make the run.

Mid Hants Railway 'Somerset & Dorset Steam Spectacular' - 11th September 2010 The 10th -- 12th September the Mid Hants Railway (or Watercress Line) their Autumn Steam Gala, this year it took upon the theme of the Somerset 7 Dorset railway and featured locomotive classes that would of once ran over the S&D. I've always wanted to visit the Mid Hants so I saw this gala as my chance to give the line a visit and I was not disappointed! Like the Mid Hants the S&D also had steep gradients which seemed perfect to have an S&D themed event with the right locomotives classes, even 44 years after the lines closure from Bath to Bournemouth the feel of the S&D was truly present during this event. The Mid Hants also sought the perfect gust for this gala which took the form of 7F 2-8-0 88 from the West Somerset Railway, this then ran along the Mid Hants fleet of engines, the full line up for the gala was -- | LMS Black 5 No 45379 (Newly restored from scrapyard condition) | SDJR 7F No 88 (Visiting from the West Somerset Railway) | SR 'West Country' Class No 34007 'Wadebridge' | BR 5MT No 73096 | BR 9F No 92212 | Class 62 USA Type 'Yankee Tank' No 30075 (On Shuttle duties) The day started and ended well, all trains were nearly on time but some late due to problems with 30075 to which I heard later in the day she had brake problems.
