  • Juan Martin del Potro Winner US Open 2009 Del Potro Stuns Federer to Win the Open Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina did what seemed to be the unthinkable on Monday night, beating Roger Federer in a dramatic five-set match to win the United States Open for his first major championship, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2. The big-serving, 6-foot-6 del Potro ended Federers remarkable string of five consecutive Open singles championships and, at 20 years old, signaled that he is ready to challenge Federer and Rafael Nadal, whom del Potro beat in the semifinal on Sunday to reach the final, as the games top player. The match began as many others had for Federer at this years Open. Having lost only two sets against six opponents before facing del Potro, Federer had little trouble winning the first set, 6-3, and seemed to be on track to add to his record 15 career Grand Slam championships. But late in the second set, del Potro won a challenge on a passing shot that was called out. This seemed to unnerve Federer — who has voiced his displeasure with the Hawk-Eye replay system — and it took him until the end of the third set before he regained his equilibrium. By the fourth set, del Potro had established his rhythm and power, his serve reaching 138 miles an hour. In the crucial tie-breaker at the end of the fourth set, del Potro took a 3-0 lead, and then overpowered Federer to win the tie-breaker, 7-4. Del Potro then jumped to a 3-0 lead in the fifth set, and, in a reversal of roles, it was the 20-year-old who had the ...

  • Obama Defends Republicans? Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) explains that now that the president has agreed to a deal that includes numerous tax breaks for the rich, the Obama White House is forced to defend Republican ideas and ideology. The Hidden Cost of Capitulation Source: Now that the president has signaled yet another collapse in agreeing to tax cuts for the rich, there is a hidden cost to this capitulation. He is now stuck defending this deal for the rest of his term. I predicted this on the show yesterday and today it's playing out exactly the way I imagined, with the president sending out advisers to talk about what a great idea it is to give tax cuts to the rich. Once you sign off on a political position, you own it. This could be a corollary to Colin Powell's doctrine on foreign policy. Powell said if you break it, you own it. In this case, if you make it, you own it. The president claims he will fight hard against these same tax cuts two years from now. It's hard to stop laughing long enough to make a point against that, but I will try. If you are sending out your people to talk up polls about how right the Republicans were on the tax cuts for the rich now, how are you going to send out the same people to talk about how wrong they were - and how wrong you were - two years from now? These are the things that make me wonder if President Obama has a firm grasp on basic political fundamentals. Yesterday he said that the political reality is that he just didn't ...

  • Ron Lyle Interview: "Shavers greater puncher than Foreman!" Lyle vs. Foreman is the type of fight that doesn't leave you indifferent to boxing. Like listening to classical music after finding out the history of its composition, watching this fight, goes hand-in-hand with understanding who both fighters were at that point in time. Their lives leading up to that one night signaled something unforgettable. In short, Foreman's myth of invincibility had become vulnerable. His heart, and ability to stand after falling were put into question. The one knockdown in Zaire against Ali was something he could not rise up from to march forward. Many thought he was a broken fighter. Lyle, a former convict with no future, discovered a life in boxing while in prison. On the brink of death twice, after being knifed while incarcerated, he used boxing as a vehicle to transcend what to others may have seemed an even bleaker future, inside or outside the penal system. For many convicts if there is nothing worth living for on the outside, they will go back to the only life they know. There are many great fights that are great for many reasons. However, for me, there is only one that best defined the most extreme exaggeration of that term. Today, attempts at building a fighter's legacy are riddled with decisions, and indecisions, regarding a career spanning many bouts. So few simply fail to comprehend that something as memorable as a legacy can be built on as little as one perfect night, and one flawless fight. It didn't matter to whom Ron Lyle lost to ...

  • Hakinnen talks about Monza Crying Incident Mika Hakkinen crashed out of the Italian Grand Prix in 1999, when after coming down the main straight some way through the race with a big lead towards the first chicane, made a mistake. Instead of of selecting 2nd, he selected 1st which locked the rear wheels and spun him into the gravel, he subsequently stalled the engine and retired. He thought, wrongly as it turned out, that his retirement signaled the end of his world title chances - he ran into the bushes for a good old cry, obviously not wanting to show up his tough Finnish ancestors by blubbing in public. Unfortunately for Hakkinen, his cover was blown when a helicopter overhead filmed the whole episode.

However, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signaled that peace talks with the Jewish state would still be possible, despite his party Fatah's unified stance with Hamas. Israel reacted quickly to the Palestinians' soon-to-be-formed single caretaker government. The country is even considering sanctions, including travel restrictions and withholding tax revenues against the new government. Shimon Peres, Israeli President, said, "If Hamas will be elected with a charter to destroy Israel, with the permission to continue to be a terrorist organization, but... what is the option for Israel? What can we do but to defend our lives?" Benjamin Netanyahu said, "The Palestinian Authority must choose between peace with Israel and peace with Hamas. Peace with both is impossible because of the Hamas goal of destroying the state of Israel, which it expresses openly." In response, Hamas insisted that its agreement with Fatah did not indicate any recognition of Israel. Hamas Spokeman Ismail Radwan said, "The practical answer is the implementation for all the agreement points. Israel has to realize that they should not interfere in internal Palestinian affairs." In his first remarks since the agreement unveiled, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signaled negotiations with Israel would still be possible under the new interim government. He added that the Palestine Liberation Organization ...

Entry from: Flagstaff, United States Entry Title: "Day 8: Albuquerque, NM, to Flagstaff, AZ." Entry: "Things are Warming Up! Things are warming up, primarily the weather! Staying at the Marriott Residence Inn last night was a great experience. The price was reasonable as compared to other options we had available, and the facility, as I mentioned yesterday, was clean and conveniently located close to I-40. We decided to depart by 7:30 am, and we were right on schedule. We had a light breakfast in the dining area of the hotel after we packed the bikes for the ride ahead. As we left the hotel we did notice that there were two police cars and an ambulance on the property, and, we assume that a guest may have had breathing difficulties as the air is quite thin being Albuquerque is approximately 5000 feet above sea level. Hopefully, the patient was OK. Upon leaving the hotel, we entered I-40 W and a few moments later I realized Kevin was not behind us. I signaled Mike to pull off of the highway onto the shoulder, and we waited a few minutes before Kevin arrived behind us. He reported that the engine on his Ultra Classic was making one heck of a racket and after listening to it, it sounded as if the "lifters" were making the excessive noise. Within a few minutes though, the lifters quieted down, and Kevin felt ...
  • Faisal Shahzad pleads guilty on all counts US DISTRICT COURT- The man suspected of planning and carrying out the failed Times Square bombing pleaded guilty on Monday, in an hour long court hearing that signaled the beginning of the end in a terrorism case that transcended international borders. Faisal Shahzad, the defendant signaled his understanding of the charges he faced outlined in the indictment. Shahzad, who more than once professed his hatred for United States foreign policy was asked by Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum why he wanted to plead guilty. Shahzad answered, "I want to plead guilty 100 times over," as he faced life in prison. In a 20 minute long statement gave an extremely detailed account of his training background and the events that lead up to the day of the attack, Shahzad said he "watched the news" and kept a gun in his house when he realized "they [investigators] were getting close." The Pakistani born terrorist said he went to Pakistan for 40 days in December of last year to January of this year and received bomb training for 5 days from the Pakistani Taliban. "They taught me the whole thing. How to make a bomb, detonate a bomb and fuse a bomb," said Shahzad. Shahzad was not at all remorseful about what he did, when asked by Judge Cedarbaum why if he was upset with the US foreign policy and military, he parked his car in Times Square full of regular citizens and children, the terrorist suspect said "people select their government [which directs the military]," adding "Americans only care ...

I am overcautious about having full health/armor/ammo, so I restart saves quite a few times. I'll try to restrict myself from doing this as frequently as I usually do, but I'll still do it a lot. 3. • Vented Cesium Signaled Internal Core Failure 03-15-11 (3) When they admitted Cesium had been released into the atmosphere and that seawater was being injected into the core, they knew these reactors (at least 3, probably 6, cores) were going to melt down and they know exactly how bad this is going to get. The world's governments are involved in a MASSIVE COVER-UP and are working together to keep this minimized and secret. Officials and media talking heads are breaking the law and allowing people to die for lack of their info dissemination! NORMALLY, any venting of primary cooling water is a serious issue. Three Mile Island is an example of this happening. As bearings turn in the reactor cooling pumps, the cobalt (picked to resist wear) coating on those bearings gets worn off and gets into the primary cooling system, becomes irradiated, and becomes a danger in the form of CO-60. In JAPAN, when they announced cesium was detected after a venting. This meant SPECIFICALLY that melting had occurred in the core. If cesium had been vented, this meant that cooling water was actually coming in contact with core material, meaning that the sleeves that keep water out of the core material had been breaches, and this core material was being released in the venting process. Cesium and strontium are fission bi-products. They are created when the fuel, uranium or plutonium, fissions, breaks apart, and forms these bi-products. Cesium and strontium, like cobalt 60, are a health and safety concern because unlike many of the other bi-products ...
  • Failure Accomplished: Farewell Dictator Bush *10/21/10 Dictator George W. Bush signaled on Thursday that he sees not privatizing Social Security as his greatest failure from the eight years he served in the White House, the Chicago Tribune reports. Bush's Conspiracy to Riot By Robert Parry August 5, 2002 On Nov. 22, 2000, the so-called Brooks Brothers Riot of Republican activists helped stop a vote recount in Miami -- and showed how far George W. Bushs s supporters were ready to go to put their man in the White House. Only a handful of the Brooks Brothers rioters were publicly identified, some through photographs published in the Washington Post. Jake Tappers book on the recount battle, Down and Dirty, provides a list of 12 Republican operatives who took part in the Miami riot. Half of those individuals received payments from the Bush recount committee, according to the IRS records. The Bush committee records show, too, that Bush's operation paid for the hotel where the Republican protesters celebrated after the Miami riot at a Thanksgiving Day party. At the party, the activists received thank-you phone calls from Bush and Cheney, and were serenaded by crooner Wayne Newton, singing Danke Schoen, German for thank-you very much. [Wall Street Journal, Nov. 27, 2000; 's "W's Triumph of the Will"] The Miami protesters who were paid by Bush recount committee were: Matt Schlapp, a Bush staffer who was based in Austin and received $4276.09; Thomas Pyle, a staff aide to House Majority ...
  • Marijuana USA More states are permitting the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes and the Obama administration has signaled relaxed enforcement of the industry in those states. Now, a new generation of marijuana entrepreneurs has emerged across America. They come from the unlikely fields of finance, politics, medicine and law, and they want to claim a stake in this modern day gold rush. CNBC's "Marijuana USA" goes inside a flourishing medical pot industry. In Colorado, the demon weed is rebranded as a natural herbal remedy with healing powers that even respectable citizens can enjoy.
