I cant say it is steam alone but have seen too much water or steam injection deteriorates top of piston and spark plug ground stap. If any one has any more knowledge on too much steam please add to comments. I have seen in industrial setteing the use of super heated steam as a super effective material stripping device. Again my statements on too much steam is what I have experienced and witnessed in my field. I have sucessfully used water-methanol injection on super-turbocharged and high compression engines with great results.
