Farewell to You My Nova Scotia When I first went Nova Scotia I fell in love with it. I went ther twice after that and my love for it increased. Nova Scotia is a place of divine beauty, it must be the land God gave Abel. And the people there are kind and generous, shows what can happen when you spend most of your years in the Maritimes. It is unfortunate that Halifax and places in Cape Breton are also plagued with stuff like drugs, violence and the like. However, I cannot wait for Nova Scotia to be restored by Jesus upon His return and I hope that He will let me live in the redeemed Nova Scotia as my permanent dwelling for eternity. Tri Nova Scotia Celtic Fiddle Dance Story & Song We are four Bostonians who perform celtic folk music from Nova Scotia. We all have at least one parent from Nova Scotia and spent lots of time there growing up. We also embrace being from Boston and have been influenced by the rich Irish traditions of our area. Our fiddler Doug Lamey is the grandson of Boston Cape Breton fiddling legend Bill Lamey. He's been playing since he was a kid and has studied with some of the greats from both the Cape Breton tradition (Buddy MacMaster) and Irish fiddle scene (Tommy Peoples). We are lucky to have two of the best stepdancers in the Boston area, Pam Campbell and Christine Morrison. Pam is the daughter of fiddling legend John Campbell. Christine is the daughter of Peggy Morrison who is president of the Gaelic Club in Watertown, MA. Pam & Christine have been dancing together for 16 years and have shared the stage with Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac to drop some names. I sing in both English and Scottish Gaelic. I play guitar and Irish Tin whistle and make my living as a musician/storyteller. I am steeped in Irish music on my dads side of the family (Clifford's in Sliabh Luachra) and Scottish on moms side. I recieved my MA in Folklore from Memorial University in Newfoundland. We've all played together informally over the years but are finally making it official. We've settled on the name The Boston Kiltics as it captures our love of Scottish folk music but also the fact we are from Boston and ...

A Bit More Of Sydney Nova Scotia A Bit More Of Sydney Nova Scotia,Music By The Eagles The Boys Of Summer. Sydney (2001 population: 24115) is a Canadian urban community in the province of Nova Scotia. It is situated on the east coast of Cape Breton Island and is administratively part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Sydney was incorporated in 1904 and dissolved on August 1, 1995 when it was merged into the regional municipality. Sydney is the largest urban centre on Cape Breton Island. Together with Sydney Mines, North Sydney, New Waterford and Glace Bay it forms the Industrial Cape Breton region. History It was founded by Col. Joseph Frederick Wallet DesBarres in 1785, and named in honour of Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney (also the Home Secretary in the British cabinet at the time). Lord Sydney appointed Col. DesBarres governor of the new colony of Cape Breton Island. Col. DesBarres landed a group that consisted primarily of poor English citizens and disbanded soldiers. A group of Loyalists from the state of New York, fleeing the aftermath of the American Revolution, were added to the immigrants upon their arrival in the neighbouring colony of Nova Scotia. The site DesBarres chose for the new settlement was along the Southwest Arm of Sydney Harbour, a drowned valley of the Sydney River, which forms part of Spanish Bay.
