OC Rocketry—Maiden Flight Oaks Christian Rocketry—Team America Rocketry Challenge The goal of the competition, the "Team America Rocketry Challenge," is to launch two raw eggs up 750' and return them 45 seconds later. This is the video of our first launch: you can see we sent the eggs up to 696' and returned them to earth 48.0 seconds later. The score of our rocket is calculated by adding twice the difference of the rocket's achieved time and 45 seconds, to the difference in altitude from 750'. For this launch, our score was 60: not good enough. After finding our rocket severely underpowered, we ordered new motors and launched again—qualifying for the National competition in VA, thank God, on our final attempt with a score just over 10.

"Model Rocketry - The Last Frontier" (Part One) Two things I love dearly - "Star Trek" and model rocketry - are mercilessly savaged in this tragic gem from the mid-1970's. Please note that this is part one, so please be sure to view part two.

Director: Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe may have never been familiar with the name Audio/Rocketry, but when he said "It's plain music that tells a good story. It's played from my heart to your heart, and it will touch you. [This] is music that matters," he could easily have been speaking about them. Combining a DIY punk ethos and a love for roots music, the group has developed a rapid underground following over the past few years. "Don't forget the words you've sung. Don't forget what makes you strong." This March marks the release of their third album, Piloting... Staying true to their roots, the band will be touring heavily across the country in support of the release, bringing their sing along songs to small town honky-tonks, campfires and punk squats, picking up new friends and fans along the way. The voice behind the poetry is frontman Joe Vickers, who along with bassist Matt Murphy forms the core of the band. While these two are ever present, live shows have been known to include up to six members who add everything from spoons to washboard to the mix. But one thing that can be said about the live Audio/Rocketry experience is that no matter how many ...

AUDIO/ROCKETRY PRESENTED BY CHERYL Brief History of A/R: In the fall of '05, I moved to Edmonton from my hometown of Drumheller, Alberta. In that same season, I bought the "mostly-acoustic compilation," Experiments in Audio Rocketry, and after the first listen, I was immediately inspired to write acoustic folk music. As songs evolved and new ones were written, I began to play them under the compilation's name, paying direct homage to its influential drive. Having limited luck with regards to booking shows during the first year, the music found life on the streets of Edmonton at various busking locations on Whyte Avenue and LRT stations. Through a mutual friend, I met Anders, a devout black metalhead, who would go on to play drums with me for about two and a half years. When we booked our first show together in early '06, we incorporated the forward slash into our band name to represent the binding of our different styles as a congruent pair. Anders and I played forty-odd shows together as a guitar/drums duo by the time Matt Murphy joined us on the bass guitar. Unfortunately, Anders departed shortly after Matt's addition; nevertheless, the duo dynamic of the band continued to characterized us as a traveling outfit until our good friend, Kevin Klemp from Feast or Famine, joined us on the banjo and accordion. After three years of playing shows throughout Western Canada, A/R hit the road eastward toward the maritimes, but as a solo endeavor on this tour due to Kevin and Matt's respective ...

High Power Rocketry - NAR Level 1 Certification I flew my NAR Level 1 Certification flight on March 21st, 2009 in Palm Bay , Florida. I built this rocket as the test bed for my computer engineering senior design project which was an electrical package to log flight data and control parachute ejection. The rocket was built from the PML Quantum Leap II kit and flown as a single stage rocket with a payload bay and nose cone. More information can be found on my blog at .

Aero-TV: Team America Rocketry Challenge - How to Launch an Aerospace Career America's Youth Prove They Can Deal With Aerospace Challenges Under bright blue skies, teams of middle and high-school students from across the country proved to one and all that they, indeed, have the right stuff. With spectacular weather and some of the finest professional and amateur rocket researchers and hobbyists in the world to overlook the proceedings, the 2010 TARC has been judged an unqualified success and we quite agree. A team from Penn Manor High School in Millersville, PA, took first place at the Eighth Annual TARC, Saturday, earning the title of national champion. The enthusiasm these talented students brought forth was truly electric. The four-member team won the world's largest rocket contest after spending months designing, building and test launching their model rocket. The Team America Rocketry Challenge kicked off last September with 669 teams from across the nation vying for a chance to compete among the top 100 qualifying teams at the finals held today outside of Washington, DC The first place team logged the winning score of 26.32. Each point represents a deviation from altitude and time aloft targets, so the lower the score, the better. Marticville Middle School from Pequea, PA, took second place with a score of 30.65, while Bob Jones High School from Madison, Ala., placed third with a score of 31.02. The first and second place teams belong to the same rocket club, Penn Manor Rocket Club, and were mentored by Brian Osmolinski. Osmolinski, a ...

Determine if 1 percent Iron oxide added to KN0/SB, would yield higher, cleaner burn rate. Rapid ignition of fuel using12V battery directly at launcher via relay..Idea from Tom Sanders..thanks! Launcher ignited engine as soon as button was pressed. Co-Pilot v2.0 Dual deployment, from Missile works, fired early... just one sec after motor burnout, causing chute separation and subsequent rocket body impact resulting in extensive damage. Designer of altimeter says my rocket most likely experienced a high speed shock wave right after motor burnout, which set the altimeter off. Further, it was noted that setting the 'Mach delay' at motor burnout and a few seconds after would allow altimeter to disregard this temporary shock wave, elimenating premature ejection.
