Recently picked up playing slide, thought I'd put a video up. Hope you enjoy it. (update Dec 2010) It is very humbling to hear so many comments from people who enjoy this video. I have to say, this is really basic playing, and anyone can do it with a little practice. There are a lot of guys on YouTube that play AMAZING slide, Kenny Lee Burgess, Deltablues4761, Bottleneck John and others. You can see them in my favorites that I subscribe to. You really should check these guys out, you'll love it. BTW, since this was recorded I have switched to fingerstyle. I recommend anyone starting out avoid the crutch I used with the pick and just jump in with both feet. (update JAN 2011) for those who are interested in the gear - the instrument is a Republic Tricone. The recording setup uses both an amplified track and a room mic. If you look closely you can see the neck mounted LACE pickup. This is a slim humbucker made specifically for this type of application. It gives what you would expect, a more electric blues sound than natural acoustic tone. This sounds really great through a cranked old National lap steel amp for instance. The electric signal is going into a Behringer V-Amp Pro where I'm adding reverb and tremelo and using a Fender tweed deluxe type of amp setting. The acoustic ...

2010 MazdaSpeed3 Resonator Delete with Test pipe This is a bunch of different sound clips of the resonator removal on a 2010 Speed3. Any shop with a welder can remove the resonator (there is only one on the second generation vs. two on the first generation) This does not affect emissions since the resonator is a straight through pipe with holes and a shield around it. I love the sound and the video doesn't do it justice. It is very much like a V8 growl and I have gotten quite a few compliments in person. It does NOT increase the sound as much as I had feared honestly. It just makes it sound meaner. Inside the car it's about the same and I didn't notice increased drone. The test pipe made more drone than stock imo. You can't tell in the video, but the car does have a lot of afterfire/run off (the pops and crackles after you let off the gas) which I love personally. Think a very mild version of the SRT-4 exhaust except it doesn't sound broken ;) This does not increase horsepower, it is just for sound. Republic Tricone Resonator Slide Guitar Demo A tone and playability demo on my Republic Tricone Roundneck Resonator Guitar using a Dunlop steel slide and a glass coricidin-type bottle slide. Played in open E with bare fingers. I never got into finger picks, but they would make it sound MUCH louder and crisp. Also, its recorded on a Fuji S1000, so the audio is a bit tinny, but you can still hear its fabulous tone.

Jomox T-Resonator Fun I made some experiments with my Jomox T-Resonator, toying with some minimal bleeps from Electribe EMX-1. T-Resonator is an outstanding effect/instrument (after tweaking it, I'm not sure which one it is). I bought it a couple of months ago to make some send effect modifications to tracks, which were quite boring. For this video, some extreme settings and a lot of feedbacks were used, so it is not necessarily a good demonstration of this product as such. T-Resonator is a very nice effect, when used with care. Source bleeps can be heard at the beginning and in some locations in the middle of the video. Bass drum is Jomox MBase 01 and hihats are from EMX-1 + Kaoss Pad 3 as send effect. No additional modifications were made to the sound of T-Resonator, but a limiter was used when mixing tracks together. I found there are same kind of videos about T-Resonator from Big City Music and those are better demonstration of this product. Polymoog Resonator Section This is an unplanned demo I threw together today of a Polymoog 3 Band Resonator that I ripped out of my Polymoog and built into a stand-alone unit for processing sounds. It consists of three filters in parallel which all be switched to lowpass, bandpass, or highpass modes. Each filter has three controls: frequency, resonance, and amplitude. It's one of the unique things about the Polymoog synthesizer which you don't find in any other polyphonic ***og synth. What happened to the rest of my Polymoog? I used the Polymoog case to built a coffee table, of which you can see a few pictures at the end of the video. That was sold off. The rest of my Polymoog was sold for parts to quite a few people. My Polymoog just had too many problems to bother putting in the time and effort to fix. NOTE: Juergen Haible decided to design a Polymoog Resonator PCB so people can build their own if they buy all the parts. Ohana Delta Resonator - REVIEW This is the prototype tenor resonator ukulele that was on display at the NAMM show last week. Ohana and Delta Resonator Cones have joined forces to make a ukulele with a truly beautiful resonant tone. I have not used any effects at all on the audio. I am afraid the acoustics in my attic are a little flat, but it does give a fairly accurate idea of the sound that is produced. Over the last few months I have worked closely with Colin Oldham of DRC to produce an instrument of which we are both very proud. This is a prototype and there will certainly be some improvements before it goes into production. Everyone that has tried it has loved the loud vibrant sound that it produces. Of course, the instrument is in effect hand built. It will continue to be assembled in England and will go into production in limited numbers shortly after the Frankfurt show in March. I am playing my arrangement of "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" at the start of the video and "Worried Man Blues" at the end.
