  • Front room downstairs rebuilt, june 2009 June 2009, the downstairs front room after having the front wall completely rebuilt, I removed the radiator, then all of the plaster and plasterboard on the front wall below and either side of the window, jacked up the ceiling with acros and took down most of the wall which was very loose and where all the old lime mortar had turned to dust, most bricks could just be removed by hand! After the wall was built back up using as many of the original bricks as possible and a few new repro' old stocks, I painstakingly flush pointed the wall and rubbed back the surface of the bricks with silcon carbide block to reveal vivid colours of the different old stock bricks and to give the cut corners a more aged/weathered look and more of an even level. i then stripped all the paint from the windows and rebuilt them and oiled them. then replastered the adjacent walls where plaster had been damaged in the rebuilding, the replumbed in the rad' and cleaned up, BEAUTIFUL!
