Cole's sister calls 911 to report details that her brother gave her when he called her at home after midnight Monday/Tuesday (June 13, 2011/June 14, 2011). She apparently called 911 while Steven M. Cole was sitting at the kitchen table near the murder scene and waiting on hold on another phone line with his sister. She told police that her brother told her that he stabbed his father in the heart and eyes, and hit him in the head with a crowbar. The sister was also aware that her brother had called their mother at the nursing home. She also informed the 911 center that her husband was going to check the scene and check in with police. Steven Cole's sister also gave helpful information about the murder scene and the location of the body -- describing the steps to a lower level living room where she said her brother jumped on top of their father and starting hitting him with a crowbar. Gunsmithing - How to Relay the Rib on a Side-by-Side Shotgun In this GunTec video Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, relays a partially separated rib on a Parker Brothers side-by-side shotgun. The process begins by heating the rib so that it can be lifted beyond the point where the joint was loose. Scrapers, made from used hacksaw blades, are then used to clean under the rib. The surfaces are then polished using cloth backed abrasive paper. A good quality degreaser, followed by a bit of flux is all that's required to finish the cleaning process. Once the joint has been cleaned, the barrels are wrapped with a soft, iron wire. Nails are inserted under the wire to hold the rib in place. Using a propane torch, the barrels are heated until the solder flows and runs into the joint. Once it cools, the wire is removed and any excess solder is removed using chisels and files. SCS3: Srdjan Capkun - Cracking Keyless Car Systems Swiss Cyber Storm 3 - May 2011 "We demonstrate relay attacks on Passive Keyless Entry and Start (PKES) systems used in modern cars. We build two efficient and inexpensive attack realizations, wired and wireless physical-layer relays, that allow the attacker to enter and start a car by relaying messages between the car and the smart key. Our relays are completely independent of the modulation, protocol, or presence of strong authentication and encryption. We perform an extensive evaluation on 10 car models from 8 manufacturers. Our results show that relaying the signal in one direction only (from the car to the key) is sufficient to perform the attack while the true distance between the key and car remains large (tested up to 50 meters, non line-of-sight). We also show that, with our setup, the smart key can be excited from up to 8 meters. This removes the need for the attacker to get close to the key in order to establish the relay. We further ***yze and discuss critical system characteristics. Given the generality of the relay attack and the number of evaluated systems, it is likely that all PKES systems based on similar designs are also vulnerable to the same attack. Finally, we propose immediate mitigation measures that minimize the risk of relay attacks as well as recent solutions that may prevent relay attacks while preserving the convenience of use, for which PKES systems were initially introduced."
