  • Refrigerant Recycling (Transferring Refrigerant) Part 3 Since I am in the recycling business, or the consolidation of recyclable material, I am always in need of recovering refrigerant according to EPA law. I obtained the proper liscensing and found buyers for the recovered refrigerant. Now I purchase recovered refrigerant from those who choose me as a deposition sight and I use the service myself. I offer ARI 700 Standard refrigerant in exchange for the recovered refrigerant for a cleanup fee or reclaim fee. This reclaim fee is basically a charge for cleaning up the refrigerant and packaging it to meet the industry standard. For example, you go to your local supplier and buy a 30 pound cylinder of R-22. They charge you $189.00 + tax. You recycle with Freon Recovery Service and I pay you up to $1.90 for your recovered refrigerant per pound. You obtain your 30 pounds of R-22 at a reclaim fee of $160 per 30 pound cylinder plus I am paying you for the recovered stuff. Ultimately you are getting your cylinder for around $100.

It can be used on all types of gases. In the end though, this will only detect the leakage however, you will need to use the old fashion sponge and soapy water to discover exactly where the leak is.....

  • Natural Refrigerants PART 1 - Hydrocarbons Martin Dennison (AMCA-NSW) raises the questions around the safety precautions that need to be considered when coming across Hydrocarbons and Carbon Dioxide when working with natural refrigerant gasses. Steve Smith (TAFE) explains the history of refrigerant gasses and why we have started to return to using natural refrigerants. Six basic questions are asked around the safety precautions of using Hydrocarbons: - What equipment can I retrofit? - How do I identify equipment containing Hydrocarbons? - What are the safety requirements when handling Hydrocarbons? - How do I reclaim/recover Hydrocarbon out of an existing system? - How do I store and transport a Hydrocarbon cylinder? - Why use a flammable refrigerant? These questions are well-tackled by Warren Steele and Ken Townshend from Electrolux, whose home refrigeration products use hydrocarbon gas. Viewers are then encouraged to view Part 2 of this video to to obtain the complete, overall safety message of this important video project.

  • HVAC - Nail Hole In Refrigerant Line I tracked down and found a leak in a refrigerant line. This is a brand new home. Putting your ear to a wall isn't the most accurate method of finding nail holes. It usually gets you into the ballpark and then it's time to fine-tune the search. The nail hole in the liquid line was an easy fix. The builder insisted I cut through the tub/shower kit instead of breaking stucco on the exterior of this second floor master bathroom. My mad Reciprocating Saw Skills are evidenced in the third segment. The fiberglass repair crew had no problem repairing the damage I inflicted. Drywall repair wasn't an issue, either. The plumber never knew I was there. The cardboard 'drop cloth' I put in the shower pan drew some praise. Minimize damage at every opportunity. Neatness above all else. Quickly identifying and fixing the problem inspires confidence. A sense of humor never hurts. At the end of the day: Another satisfied customer.

  • R-22 Phase Out: Refrigerant Transition www2 R-22 is an ozone depleting hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerant regulated under the Montreal Protocol and the US Clean Air Act because of its ozone depleting properties. R-22 is on a phase-out schedule to eliminate its usage by the year 2020. Equipment owners who currently use R-22 with HVACR equipment will need to use refrigerant alternatives as the demand for R-22 becomes greater than the supply. The DuPont™ ISCEON® line of refrigerants covers all applications where R-22 has been in place, at a range of temperatures from refrigeration to air conditioning. Barbara Minor, Engineering Fellow DuPont Refrigerants: R-22 is now a regulated chemical, and the reason its regulated is because it does have ozone depletion. And so, because of that, its regulated under an international agreement, which is called the Montreal Protocol. And, its also regulated under the US Clean Air Act. And, because of this, there is a phase-down schedule for R-22, to eventually eliminate its use. Because it does have ozone depletion potential. Nick Strickland, Market Development Manager DuPont Refrigerants: And, as R-22 transitions away because of the implementation of the US Clean Air Act, thats going to create some disruptions, and some possible supply-demand imbalances in the future. And its important to be looking at a smooth transition away from R-22. And, we have some products that allow a smooth transition, if you look at some of our ISCEON products. Barbara Minor ...

  • R-22 Phase Out:Reclaiming Refrigerant For Credit www2 Existing in-use R-22 is a valuable asset for businesses if it is properly reclaimed. DuPont Authorized Refrigerant Reclaim Centers are able to process R-22 banking or credits while enabling businesses to move to DuPont™ ISCEON®. DuPont follows the EPA standards for refrigerant reclamation and destruction of recovered refrigerant, which is a important part of the phase-down regulations. Nick Strickland, Market Development Manager DuPont Refrigerants: Its important to be able to have someone locally who can serve you the needs that you have. For example, if youve got operate a supermarket thats in a remote location that system if that system loses a charge, its really critical that, within two hours, you have someone there to service the the equipment, put refrigerant in that machine. And so, that thats why the DuPont network of distributors is so crucial to us delivering value to users who use a refrigerant in the marketplace. And, we have a very extensive network throughout the country, and as we go into this transition, away from R-22, its important to know that you can go to the local DuPont distributor, reclaim the 22, purchase the the the ISCEON refrigerants to to for your for your jobs, bring that product back through your DuPont distributor, and then get credit for it in the form of cash or product. And then, you know, continue that that supply chain, and and to make that transition easy. You know, our distributors really are an extension of our ...
  • Adding refrigerant R22 "Freon" into air conditioner HVAC DIY project. Adding a small can of refrigerant R22 into a stationary A/C system. This is a commercial style self-contained package unit, but its essentially the same with every unit. The valve should be attached to the can first, screwed all the way in, then cracked a bit to clear the hose of air. connect to low-side port. DO NOT attach to high side. If you do, the can might burst. Charge upright, so that the liquid doesn't go in to slug the compressor. If liquid R22 is fed into the compressor and the piston tries to compress liquid, you might wreck it. It will take five minutes or more a can and the can will start to get cold as the refrigerant evaporates out of the can and into the system. Feel free to use a hot water bath. Use a heat blanket, or a bath of hot water to help the charging process. To replace the can, re-tighten then valve, unscrew the valve assembly from the can, then remove the bracket. (DO NOT loosen the valve, or you'll vent the charge from system into the air Attach bracket to can, tighten down the valve assembly into the can and loosen valve to continue charging. The can is empty when it is nearly as warm as the heating bath.
