Thermaltake Mobile 12 Fan - PS3 Application (YLOD Prevention Part 2) If you viewed my video on the Thermaltake Mobile Fan II, you will see in the comments that my PS3 succumbed to the YLOD (yellow light of death) on Christmas Eve 2010. Therefore, I had it reflowed again and decided to take even more measures to keep the console cooler. This time, I purchased the Mobile II Fan's bigger brother, the Mobile 12 Fan and placed it on the intake (right side) of the PS3. I hope this will keep my PS3 alive longer than 1 month!
XBOX 360 reball in HD (Part 1) This video shows a reballed GPU (replacement chip) being placed on the motherboard. The original GPU was partially dead from the owner repeatedly doing the overheating trick. I reflowed the GPU, reballed it and reflowed the southbridge but got the E73 error after all tries. When this happens, the GPU must be replaced. Please check the other videos for the real alignment and reattachment back to the motherboard, finally followed by a boot up test. I will upload videos of the GPU chip being pulled from the motherboard and solder balls being put back onto the chip in other videos.
How to heat up your GPU (reflow) without hurting your 360. This video will show you an easy way to heat up your GPU in your 360. I recommend doing the RROD fix prior to doing this. Some people call this reflowing your GPU but unless you melt the solder to the point that you can remove the GPU then it is not a true reflow. This allows you to get the GPU really hot though so it should last for a long time. DO NOT do the towel trick it is not good to heat up the CPU. I have had a lot of comments that state this is a crappy fix and I agree. THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX! It is 100% better than the towel trick or the oven bake. Do not do those, they have a very high risk/chance of damaging your system. OK now on to the better news. You can fix your xbox permanently without a real reflow however you much do this or a heatgun fix AND hot wire 12V power to the fans. I have a few systems now that have been running for over a year now with this fix. Basically the problem with the xbox is it heats up too much and warps the board. If you can prevent the heat then if you can get your 360 to work again you have a VERY good chance of keeping it running. Also some people do not seem to understand that heating up the xbox in any form is NOT GOOD, it was not intended to be heated up so you CAN cause damage doing any of these fixes so be careful. PS3 YLOD Fix Part 1 of 3 Please leave the annotations on while watching this entire video. I've added a few important points that I forgot to mention while I was recording the video. Also, please watch all of my PS3 related videos BEFORE starting this process (including my "PS3 Re-assembly Announcement, Update And Tips" video) so that you are familiar with what you're doing in advance. Xbox 360 Error E74 ANA chip solution if reflow doesnt work. This video shows you a possible solution I found if reflowing with hot air doesnt work, to the E74 error message. Note do not atempt self repairs if u still have a warranty, if u do void ur waranty make sure u fully understand wat than means. Do not atempt relf repairs if u cant even get the case open by urself n know that ul nd thermal paste ahead if time. The problem is either the scaler chip or the grahics chip called ANA or the GPU. From over use the solder inside the chip became loose, my solution the same penny trick used to hold the memory in place. I simpy wraped 11 pennys, which mite be to much 10 should do but test around, in electrical tape and placed them on top of the chip the result when i place the cooling duct bak and the dvd drive back they will push the penys down and hold the loose scaler chip in place. I sugest u do this after heating the ANA with a hairdryer only for a short time no more than a minute just to soften it but not to much(this is reflowing without the correct tools but can work, dont use a hot air gun as its to hot for reflowing ur not removing it!). Do some testing with ur fingers like i did n see if it boots up. I found after a couple of days this actualy fixed it for good but cant say it will be the same for every one, meaning the penys hav 2 stay in, so secure them. The initial fault is bad solder(see other sites for indepth explanation) and it needs to be reflowed with heat for a more permanent solution same goes for the gpu as it ...
Hot Plate Surface Mount Reflow This is a 30 second video of some 0805 resistors being "reflowed" using a simple kitchen hot plate. Look at the 8 resistors in the lower right hand corner. The resistors will get "shiny" as the solder paste reflows, starting with the left one, ending with the right one. It's hard to see the surface tension of the molten solder pulling each resistor into alignment... it would be easier if they were a bit more misplaced to begin with. I used 2 smal bits of hard plastic that i filed down to be the perfect hight so the heatsink touches the processors so it cools and at the same time the heatsink touches the lil pieces of plastic pushing the procesor chip down onto the board. Remember similar to the ANA the GPU nds to be reflowed the GPU gets hot enough on its own and can get even hotter if u remove the AV cables but be careful, keep testin it with my method and leavin it to cool a bit inbetween tests is a gd idea. Also try removing the GPU heatsink and pres on the corners(green areas not on the silver areas unles u want cooked finger tips) I found this to be the best method but hardest as it over heats quickly and gets realy hot, so make sure the plastic or whatver u use wont melt and please dont use anything metal as it wil obiously cause a short. If this doesnt work u wil have to consider over heating the GPU alot, keep ur fans on the CPU heatsink only keep it as cool as posible, do this anyway. Make sure this is ur very last option before binin it or rebaling it(contact me for info) as it could burn out the GPU if u duno when is enough.
PS3 YLOD hi everyone my ps3 40GB has recently Died. it has YLOD. some of the symptoms are: -Ylod's As soon as i turn it on -Turns on but freezes on the home screen / OR / the boot logo. -turns on, allows me to play a game for 5 minutes or so, then Freezes for 5 seconds or so and then YLOD's. every time it YLOD's the red light flashes afterwards. i am thinking of buying one of these: .au and reflow the PS3 with the OVEN Method. the console has been reflowed once (the first time before the reflow the ps3 wouldn't even boot, gave YLOD error every time) PLEASE HELP ME!!!

BGA and µBGA Double Drop The essential requirement for a fully reflowed and mechanicvally sound BGA, and Micro BGA. The main reason that Gaming board and laptop repairs only work for a short time is that the repair does not achieve this double drop and does not create the essential inter-metallic bond. Result will be an intermittent open - Yellow ring of death or worse.

***age Mutant Ninja Turltes TMNT Arcade PCB Sound Issue Sounds sometimes cut in an out with my TMNT board. The theme song and most music plays 100% fine until some other in game sound makes the audio cut off either completely or causes the audio to become scratchy. The issue only last for four seconds or so then normal sound is restored. The issue is intermittent, sometimes it cuts off completely, sometimes it's scratchy, sometimes it plays 100% fine. the volume pot. has been cleaned, thoroughly, and I've pretty much ruled it out. Granted, it's near shot and needs to be replaced ASAP, but I really don't see how it could be causing an issue like this. We'll hopefully see. Everything in the sound circuit has been reflowed, voltages have been checked and they're where they need to be (+5.10VDC, +11.75VDC). It leads me to believe it's either an issue with one of the ICs, or something else in the circuit that COULD cause a timed issue (capacitor gone bad?). I'll be digging through the board a little bit today, and probably get tired of it and then spend more time next week on it. If you've already had an issue like this, or have any ideas, lemme know. As soon as I get the issue fixed, I'll repost another video (mainly for proof) and tell what the issue was. The fix SHOULD roughly translate over to a few different games... Simpsons and X-Men come to mind as they're from the same era and should work pretty much the same way. So hopefully I'll be able to help anyone that might be having the same issue.
My PS3 lives using the reflow method!!! Just posting this second video about 4 hours after my first video. I saw someone's video where they were doing the reflow method, so I then ran out and bought a heat gun, reflowed it, and it works!!!!! The cause for death for the PS3 was due to the HUGE balls of dust that were blocking the vents. Everything's like new!

I fixed my iPhone wifi problem by following these steps: The oven trick fixed my iPhone by reflowing the solder joints in my motherboard. *BUT* I was very careful and I did thorough trouble shooting first. I also have experience breaking down iPhones. Other guys with the same experience have tried this and it didn't work for them. So be cautious, read everything, comment, then once you're sure you can try the fix. I have recorded both successful and unsuccessful repairs at the bottom of this video text. iPhone PCB Cooking Directions: 1) Preheat oven to 385F (196C) 2) Bake PCB (motherboard) for 7 minutes 3) Cool on the rack for 1 hour. But before you try this fix confirm you actually have a hardware problem by starting with the Apple Trouble Shooting Guides , and If after reading those guides Apple tells you to view their Service FAQ it means your prospects of a software fix have become very slim; most likely you are dealing with a hardware problem. Xbox 360 Heat gun reflow Here is the method I use to reflow an xbox 360. I bought a wagner 1000 heat gun for $20 from the paint department at walmart. It has two temperature settings: 750 and 1000 degrees fahrenheit which is certainly enough and gives you an actual reflow compared to the "overheat method" used by most x-clamp fix tutorials. If you've done an x-clamp fix and still have a red ring this is why. After removing x-clamps and heatshinks and thoroughly cleaning both cpu and gpu of all the thermal paste, do 1 minute on the low setting over the entire bottom of the board (about a fist-length away). Then flip to the top and heatgun the cpu, gpu, ram, southbridge and hana on high for 4 minutes. Then let the system sit for 30+ minutes. Be sure not to move the system in any way while it's cooling! After the system has cooled, apply fresh thermal paste and re-apply your x-clamp fixes. The screws I use have a 2mm head so when I use a 1mm thick #10 nylon washer this gives me 3mm total, which is the same height as the standoffs around the chassis. This means drilling is not necessary as your motherboard will be flat and even with the standoffs. Do not use 2mm worth of washers on the bottom! On the top between the heatsink and motherboard you do need to use 2mm worth of washers. Tighten down well but you dont have to torque them down as hard as you can! In this way you can have your solder fixed as well has having your motherboard lay flat without flexing. I've fixed many systems using this method ...

Thermaltake Mobile II Fan - PS3 Application (YLOD Prevention) I purchased this little inexpensive fan to keep my reflowed PS3 cool. The PS3 is susceptible to the yellow light of death (YLOD) due to various reasons but the majority of the cases seem to be from overheating (more specifically, the thermal compound deteriorates and loses its heat conductivity). Therefore, re-applying thermal compound is needed (or pay Sony $150). Recurrence of the YLOD is common for reflowed PS3's, so I wanted to see if I can prolong the life of my console by using this little fan to pull the hot air from the back of the unit.

HP tx1000 GPU Reflow with Rubbing Alcohol I own an HP tx1000 tablet that slowly died, first losing its wifi and finally experiencing the "no video" failure. I gave up on the laptop months ago, but then saw some videos showing how to repair tx1000's and other HP laptops. Generally people reflowed the solder under the nvidia GPU with various heat sources. I liked the solution presented in this video: but before I went out to buy a heat lamp, I found this page that shows how to reflow a chip on an old Mac iBook by burning rubbing alcohol: I combined the two repairs: use alcohol for the reflow and penny to act as a shim, conducting heat from the GPU and to the heat sync. My tx1000 now appears to be revived, but there's still a chance it will fail again. In particular, I worry that the alcohol wasn't hot enough, so I may have to reflow it again by different means. Good luck with whatever repair you choose! This video was edited in OpenShot... it's open source, so try it!
