Recession fears amid economic turmoil - 15 Sep 08 There hasn't been a day like it in decades. The value of investments across the world are shrivelling, billions of dollars disappearing from markets. The world's financial controllers, the European Central Bank for example, and even the US president are trying to stop the "economic avalanche". The big question now - are all the ***ysts, investors and governments ready to say the word that they've until now considered taboo: RECESSION.

Germany thrives amid recession As Europe struggles back from recession, Germany remains its economic engine. The European Commission predicts the German economy will grow by 1.2 per cent in 2010. That is when the Greece economy is expected to shrink by 3 per cent Ireland by 1 per cent. When debt-ridden Greece needed a $145bn bailout back in May, Germany contributed the most.
