Grass roots anger in Simsbury, CT August 5, 2009 Democrat Chris Murphy represents the 5th Congressional District of Connecticut. Mr. Murphy is always accessible to his constituency. He likes to hold meetings at grocery stores. He calls them, Congress on your corner. In the summer they usually attract 20 to 50 people at a time. On Wednesday, August 5, Congressman Murphy held court at a Stop and Shop Store in Simsbury, CT., a wealthy and quite liberal enclave in the state. A huge crowd assembled. They brought hand-made signs. Their spontaneity was a force in itself! Health care reform was the main topic for discussion, and discuss it they did. At times peoples emotions rolled across the store parking lot like swells breaking on an ocean beach. There were a very few supporters of Congresss new health care bill. If this any indication what is happening among average voters in Connecticut, every incumbent has got to be scared!
