Insane Storm / Tornado - Sun 'n' Fun 2011 A heavy squall line moves through the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport at the perfect time - during the annual Sun'n'Fun convention and air show. The National Weather Service confirmed later that day that an EF-1 tornado did in fact touch down on airport property. You can see a tent from Cessna's display crash into the Media Center's pavillion during the clip. A total of 40 airplanes were damaged by the incredible rains, straight line winds and what was later determined to be a small tornado. The campgrounds fared the worst, with some campers and most tents suffering extreme damage.

Battle of Leyte Gulf - Taffy 3 - Pt 5 The Battle off Samar (25 October): alsey's decision to take all the available strength of Third Fleet northwards to attack the carriers of the Japanese Northern Force had left San Bernardino Strait completely unguarded. Kurita's Center Force therefore emerged unopposed from San Bernardino Strait at 0300 on 25 October and steamed southward along the coast of the island of Samar. In its path stood only the Seventh Fleet's three escort carrier units (call signs 'Taffy' 1, 2, and 3), with a total of six*** small, very slow, and lightly armored escort carriers and their screens of lightly armed (and entirely unarmoured) destroyers and smaller destroyer escorts. The Japanese Center Force was still very powerful, consisting of four battleships (including the giant Yamato), six heavy cruisers, two light cruisers and a dozen destroyers. Kurita's force caught Rear Admiral Clifton Sprague's Task Unit 77.4.3 ('Taffy 3') entirely by surprise. Sprague directed his carriers to launch their planes, then run for the cover of a rain squall to the east. He ordered the destroyers and DEs to make a smoke screen to conceal the retreating carriers. Kurita, unaware that Ozawa's decoy plan had succeeded, assumed that he had found a carrier group from Halsey's Third Fleet. Having just redeployed his ships into antiaircraft formation, he further complicated matters by ordering a "General Attack", which called for his fleet to split into different divisions and attack independently. Supercell T'Storm 8/28/08 Mesa, AZ (Part C) This is the most amazing footage of this storm as it just passes and the rain squall has let up. The camera is aimed straight against the roof line and pans momentarily on the horizon. There is a constant low frequency roar that the camera can't pick up. Its caused from a record 10000 lightning strikes occuring per hour as was later shown on a lightning chart for the area. Most of which remained cloud-to-cloud. With the rain now past, the bolts are vivid and very clear, lots of colors never seen before. Again, the Canon ELPH doesn't quite capture the hues, but its the most fantastic light show one can imagine. Better than any fireworks or video game considering the entire desert sky overhead is ablaze with flashes everywhere. The sky remained completely filled with light for a good 20 to 30 minutes from the storm traveling directly overhead at approx. 28 MPH

on way to Ragged Island, Harpswell, ME getting near Ragged Island, which is one of the many islands that is part of Harpswell, ME. It was a bit of a rough ride. Looking back to Bailey's Island and Orr's Island, you can see a rain squall (which we hit on the way back)...due to the wind, tide, rollers and chop, we could not get onto Ragged Island, for which I was very grateful...I had gotten a wee bit sea sick on the ride out, got worse as the squall approached--making with water rougher....
