Bamboo Railway - Cambodia November 2006 Enterprising locals in Battambang, Cambodia, have developed a unique railway. It's made from recycled tank wheels, small motorcycle engines and lashings of bamboo. Cambodia's main train service only runs four times a month and derailments are common. Little wonder locals prefer a different option. 'Norries' are little more than bamboo slabs with wheels and run on the state-built track. With a top speed of 50 km per hour, the norry network is far superior to the train. As one driver explains; "People like these because they're fast and on time". Peterborough Model Railway Exhibition Part 2 This is the second part of the footage from the Peterborough Model Railway Exhibition. First of all, there are some stills of the EM gauge track which you can buy in kits with a small diorama of a yard that was used to show this super detailed track in action. The rolling stock that was used was a Bachmann Class 08 in Blue livery and a Heljan Class 47 in BR Railfreight livery. After that I briefly film a T Gauge layout which is a Fictional Japanese layout which uses the Series 103 units in the Osaka Loop Line (Orange), Kansai Line (Green) Keio Line (Yellow) and the Tohoku Line (Blue) liveries. The scale of T-gauge is either 1:350 scale or 1:400 scale. Next is a short video of the Triang Mimic Motorways Roadway System which uses powered road vehicles to enhance a Model Railway although compared to the newer Faller Road system where the vehicles are pulled by magnets. The triang version looks a bit crude, but it was very advanced back in its day and it is better than static traffic I think. Next up is an LNER & British Railways OO gauge layout set in the late 1950's, although I only filmed two shots of the layout because the limited space on my Memory Card. The next layout in this video is Alanbeck Junction which was exhibited by John Burn. Alanbeck Junction is intended to portray a small part of the British Railway network during in the period from 2000 to 2003 and is a Modern Image layout. It is situated where a busy cross-country line joins up to a double track main line ...
Desk Railway Chronicles - Episode 1 Top Hatt has been doing quite a bit of spending as of late. Surely nothing bad can result from this... ---- Thank god it's over. Over a year since the official announcement (and exactly a year since animation began), over 2 years since the release of Trouble With Trains 3, and roughly 4 years since the debut of The Desk Railway, and the first episode of a brand new series begins. You'd better enjoy it. Why did it take so long? Because I've had to completely redo how I make my videos. A new computer means I'm unable to use my old software, and in the bid to up quality I've started using a DV camera and a higher framerate. The animation process took several months, and editing took even longer - largely due to how dull adding new expressions is. I've scrapped that element, because otherwise it wouldn't be done for another 5 years. Enough writing about the dull task of making this. Enjoy the video! Minecraft Intercontinental Railway Week 6 It's been about 6 weeks since I started working on my very large railway in Minecraft and this is the result. Nearly 6 (game) miles long, the world is so big it crashes Cartographer, and it takes nearly an hour to traverse on foot. This video was created using a powered minecart. I disassembled the Minecraft code and removed the fuel requirements for powered minecarts, so they just go until they run out of track. I got rid of the UI by hitting F1 and Alt. Texture pack is Brown and Bloom: Overviewer render: The music is Hymn to Aurora by Astralia, a remixed version of a chiptune released by Horace Wimp from the demoscene group Aurora: I used INVedit and MCedit extensively in this build. Captured with Fraps at 720p30, doubled to 60 fps and decompressed with Virtualdubmod, then edited and sped up with Sony Vegas.

Garden railway: 10 scale miles MASSIVE: Drivers Eye View of Bekonscot Model Railway More info at Become a fan of us on Facebook! and The Gauge 1 model railway at Bekonscot Model Village, Bucks. It's a 10 scale mile model garden railway of 1 scale, in a 1/12 scale miniature village. The line was started circa 1929 and has been updated continuously for 80 years. We strapped a camera to the front of one of the engines and sent it off - we've added some subtitles so you can see what you're passing. Model railways rock. The huge model railway has evolved since those early years, from Bassett-Lowke LNER and GWR outline stock through to modern image British Rail - when at one time, class 47, class 37, Hymek, western class 53, intercity 125 and even DMU stock ran. In the early 1990s, interest in the railway's heritage regained, and it was decided to revert to a classic 1930s appearance. Therefore you'll now see classic GWR railmotors, EMU, GWR 94xx tank locos, LMS Jinty, SR Q Class and many more freelance locos on the route. The whole system is controlled by computer, interlocked with hundreds of relays for points and signal operation. Note that the signals are missing in this video, as they are currently all being refurbished. The complex trackwork around Maryloo station is controlled by a Westinghouse lever frame in the signal box (where this video begins and ends) when the signalman wants to intervene. This train was preset to run non-stop - but of course would need to stop if another train was in the block ahead of it ...

A Quaint Little Railway (1930) This short, silent film captures one of Britain's minor little railways: the Leek and Manifold Light Railway on the Staffordshire Moorlands. The railway opened in 1907, linking the villages of Waterhouses and Hulme End, and was built mainly for agricultural traffic, with a passenger service being a secondary consideration. Its route went through beautiful countryside in Staffordshire, and it is unfortunate that the intertitles state it as being shot in Derbyshire! In 1934 the entire line was closed by the North Staffordshire Railway. There is little in the way of recorded film material of this quaint little train, so this gem gives an invaluable insight into the railway. (Stuart Smith, Midlands Railway Centre)You can watch this and over 1000 other complete films and TV programmes from the BFI National Archive free of charge in the Mediatheque at BFI Southbank, London and at the new QUAD centre for art and film in Derby -

Thomas Wooden Railway - Early Engineers The classic train system parents have loved for generations featuring Thomas & Friends has a new line designed especially for beginning engineers. Designed to captivate toddlers' imaginations while bringing train play within their grasp, the Thomas Wooden Railway Early Engineers Line features larger engines that are perfect for small hands as well as track and destinations that fit into simple molded layouts so everything stays securely in place. The Early Engineers Line is also compatible with the rest of the Thomas Wooden Railway, so as little engineers continue their journey with Thomas, they can easily expand and add to their Thomas Wooden Railway line.
The Railway Children Toronto Sizzler It's the beloved Edwardian era story of three children who live by the tracks, reduced to poverty after their father is unjustly imprisoned. You may have seen The Railway Children in film and television adaptations, but this stage version is unprecedented! It's a breathtaking theatrical event that will be staged beside the CPR Roundhouse, at the base of the CN Tower, where a 1000 seat venue has been built around the railway tracks—with the audience seated on either side—and will "star" a working, 86-ton vintage steam locomotive! Jordan - Hejaz Railway October 2006 The Hejaz railway, which transported pilgrims from Damascus to Medina, was one of the great train journeys of the world. Now, an ambitious plan is underway to restore it. At the Qadem station on the outskirts of Damascus, tourists inspect rusty old steam trains. Nearly a hundred years ago, these trains were used on the Hejaz line. Now, they could again be used again. "The Hejaz railway was once a joint project of the entire Islamic world", explains archaeologist Ulrich Bellwald. "Maybe it will bring people together again." Restorers hope to rebuild sections of the line destroyed by Lawrence of Arabia, update the infrastructure and renovate station buildings. But hampering reconstruction efforts are hoards of treasure hunters, digging for rumoured gold under the tracks. Produced by ABC Australia Distributed by Journeyman Pictures

Tanfield Railway coal train charter Video filmed in HD of a special charter on the Tanfield Railway organised by Gateshead Camera Club. The charter featured Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST Renishaw Ironworks, No. 6 and the NCB coal train, recreating the sights and sounds of the coal trains of the 1960's. The Tanfield Railway is famous for it's popular Coal train days, which are normally held every February and October. So the camera club enjoyed re-creating a coal train day on a sunny Saturday in August. The Tanfield Railway is the world's oldest existing railway. Produced by principal photographer Ian Britton. Filmed with a Canon XH A1 HDV video camera at 1080i 30.

Swiss Railways Views of the Standard and Metre gauge railways of Switzerland. Firstly, some frieght trains near Gotthard, famous for its pass, and very, very long tunnel. Secondly, a look at the lake and the Paddle Steamer 'Lotschberg', as well as some metre gauge traffic, at Brienz. Brienz, as many will know, is the bottom terminus of the Brienz and Rothorn Steam Rack Railway. A possible thing to come? Thirdly, some more metre gauge traffic at Realp, at the foot of the Furka pass. The station only serves a population of around 160, but is used for car transport trains, to carry travellers along the rail route, rather than negotiating the Furka pass itself, like we did. (In low thick cloud may I add!)
