  • HOW TO PROPAGATE AFRICAN VIOLETS FROM A LEAF. This shows how to cut a leaf and plant it to make new plants. The process requires light packing of soil or moss medium and infrequent watering that JUST about keeps it moist and then waiting for 6-10 weeks for the results. If your leaf continues to look healthy and is not dried or rotted, you can be sure that you will get results. No need for rooting formulas or chemicals, although I have to say it took me five or six attempts before I got the moisture conditions right. Better to err on the dry side than overwatering.

  • Propagating Plants from Cuttings The propagation department at White Flower Farm creates plants for our catalogues and store in a number of ways. Some plants are fairly easy to multiply vegetatively by taking tip cuttings of young, healthy stems and inserting (or sticking) them into a fine potting mix to form roots. Dipping the cuttings in a rooting hormone first gives a higher percentage of success and generally speeds up the rooting time. Attention to humidity, watering, and temperatures once the cuttings are inserted in the mix also gives the best results. Propagation Manager Alyson Brown demonstrates each step in the process using tip cuttings from two perennials in the Mint family, Nepeta 'Walker's Low' and Lavender x intermedia 'Grosso'. Thanks to Gary Junken from Fine Gardening magazine for visiting the nursery and producing this video.

  • Ground Wave Propagation Ground Wave PropagationIt is common knowledge that electro magnetic fields are observed almost in any position in space. People learned how to use such fields a long time ago. One of applications is to transmit and receive electro magnetic radiations. Radio communication and television are the most well-know examples. However, to ensure efficient use of electro magnetic radiation, we need to know how electro magnetic waves propagate through space. We know that light is also an electro magnetic radiation within a visible spectrum. Consequently, we can forecast how electro magnetic waves propagate by observing light emission under various conditions. This is true. Electro magnetic waves (or radio waves) are reflected and absorbed similar to light. Diffraction and interference phenomena are also characteristic of electro magnetic waves. However, the visible band of electro magnetic waves occupies only a small portion of the whole electro magnetic spectrum. Now let me briefly describe how radio waves propagate through space.Firstly, all radio waves are classified in three types by propagation mode. They are: ground wave propagation; ionospheric propagation; and tropospheric propagation. Ground waves propagate along the Earth surface due to diffraction and refraction phenomena or, to put it in other words, due to interception. This means that the wave follows the terrain of the Earth surface. The range of communication depends on the working range, receiver's power, time of ...

  • 328. How to Propagate Aquarium Plants --- for the folks in Ireland. Alright, so I labeled the video...Propagating plants is pretty easy to do. How to propagate aquarium plants is a useful skill when you want to start breaking off some of the plants into your planted tank. I recommend looking closely at a plant and how it is growing. You really only want to mess with propagating plants that are growing big and healthy. You'll just kill a plant that isn't doing well. Pick out a nice healthy plant that you want to propagate out of your planted tank. Make sure your aquarium plant has good roots growing on it. The more roots the better. Look at how it is naturally segmented. Cut it or break it along those lines. For plants that have roots that grow up the stem, you are going to want to cut where the top part will have a root already started for when you plant it back in your planted aquarium. This makes it easier on the plant to being growing on its own out of its already started roots. Plants are tough for the most part. They can handle the splitting. Ask me about some specific plants that you want to propagate and I can tell you what to do. Check out and find me on the live chat....im there a bunch and so are others that can always help. Get some easy plants to start and hack away.
