Prelude to War WHY WE FIGHT SERIES: FILM #1 Produced by the US Army Special Service Division, and directed by Frank Capra "Why We Fight" is a seven part propaganda/documentary series that traces the earliest beginnings of the second world war starting with Japan's invasion of China in 1931, to the ***'s march across europe. **Best Documentary Academy Award in 1943** This famous propaganda piece, used as a US Army training film in WWII before theatrical release, asks 'why we fight.' The answer compares the 'free' and 'slave' worlds. Included: development of dictatorships in Italy, Germany and Japan, while anti-militarism and isolationism rise in the USA; a look at enemy propaganda; and the first acts of aggression. Walter Huston narrates a combination of archival footage, maps, and other graphics.

Frédéric Chopin - Prelude in E-Minor (op.28 no. 4) Frédéric Chopin-Prelude in E-Minor (op.28 no. 4) Played by: Aldona Dvarionaite Fryderyk Chopin (Polish: Fryderyk [Franciszek] Chopin, sometimes Szopen; French: Frédéric [François] Chopin;March 1, 1810 -- October 17, 1849) was a Polish virtuoso pianist and piano composer of the Romantic period. He is widely regarded as the greatest Polish composer, and one of the most influential composers for piano in the 19th century. Chopin was a genius of universal appeal. His music conquers the most diverse audiences. When the first notes of Chopin sound through the concert hall there is a happy sigh of recognition. All over the world men and women know his music. They love it. They are moved by it. Yet it is not "Romantic music" in the Byronic sense. It does not tell stories or paint pictures. It is expressive and personal, but still a pure art. Even in this abstract atomic age, where emotion is not fashionable, Chopin endures. His music is the universal language of human communication. When I play Chopin I know I speak directly to the hearts of people! Chopin's music for the piano combined a unique rhythmic sense (particularly his use of rubato), frequent use of chromaticism, and counterpoint. This mixture produces a particularly fragile sound in the melody and the harmony, which are nonetheless underpinned by solid and interesting harmonic techniques. He took the new salon genre of the nocturne, invented by Irish composer John Field, to a deeper level of sophistication. Three of ...

Debussy: L'après-midi d'un faune (Stokowski) part 1/2 A celebrated performance conducted by Leopold Stokowski with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Festival Hall, London, 14 June 1972. Part 2 here: "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" by Claude Debussy. Performed on the double occassion of Stokowski's 90th birthday, and 60th anniversary of his LSO debut. Though he conducted the entire program from that 1912 concert, it was this Debussy performance folks recall most memorably. "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" was a specialty of Stokowski over the years, but he and his soloists surpassed themselves on this night, as you will see! Christopher Palmer wrote in "The Musical Times" that "My most treasured memory of the evening is undoubtedly 'Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune', which received a reading of exceptional refinement with all the tensions and relaxations effortlessly and beautifully graded, and unerringly poetic solo work from all the woodwind. A flawless performance." in "The Daily Telegraph" Peter Stadlen wrote "Stokowski's legendary hands, though batonless, are put to the strictest functional use. His angular, almost ungainly movements are the simple tools for some of he most masterly conducting the century has witnessed....by what seemingly incongruous flicks of the wrist did he promote the fabulously sensitve solos in 'Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune'? Never has lifelong global fame rested on more solid foundations." adapted from the liner notes by Edward Johnson Debussy: Prelude to "The ...

Final Fantasy Prelude Themes MP3 Downloads: All preludes in 1 Since megaupload is laying the smacketh down on my older uploads, I had to reup these. I am only going to put the link for all in 1 because despite how small and menial it might seem to put individual links, it's actually a pretty tedious task. And when I uploaded the individuals, they got scattered and lost amongst my vast array of uploads on mediafire so it would take extra long to scour through and find each one and which game it belongs to. Hopefully you can settle for this! The final fantasy prelude themes starting from Final Fantasy 1 to Final Fantasy 12. Hope you enjoy :D -------------------------------------------- Yes I realize I uploaded the wrong themes for Final Fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 12. I apologize for this mistake, and if you feel the need to make it more obvious than it already is, then please do so in a polite manner. Leaving rude comments about me making a mistake will result in your user being blocked. Thank you and have a nice day.

Chopin Prelude No.15, Db Major "Raindrop"--Alfredo Perl Alfredo Perl was born in Chile and is best known for his Beethoven. He has performed the Beethoven cycle of sonatas in Santiago, Moscow and London. Uploaded in honor of HH's birthday... sorry for the squeezed format--didn't used to play like this... from excellent DVD of Chopin music. See and order it at this Chopin piece is used in the new halo 3 battle scene commercial (showing UNSC marine fighting alongside the Master Chief): George Sand on Chopin and this prelude: There is one that came to him through an evening of dismal rain—it casts the soul into a terrible dejection. Maurice and I had left him in good health one morning to go shopping in Palma for things we needed at our "encampment." The rain came in overflowing torrents. We made three leagues in six hours, only to return in the middle of a flood. We got back in absolute dark, shoeless, having been abandoned by our driver to cross unheard of perils. We hurried, knowing how our sick one would worry. Indeed he had, but now was as though congealed in a kind of quiet desperation, and, weeping, he was playing his wonderful prelude. Seeing us come in, he got up with a cry, then said with a bewildered air and a strange tone, "Ah, I was sure that you were dead." When he recovered his spirits and saw the state we were in, he was ill, picturing the dangers we had been through, but he confessed to me that while waiting for us he had seen it all in a dream, and no longer distinguishing the ...
