Large Pneumatic Cylinder with two input pressure Some manufacturing processes require use of large pneumatic cylinders. If the operation cycle of these cylinders are long, such as bonding of laminated materials, use of a single high pressure line is acceptable. However if the operation cycle is short, like an assemble operation, the use of a single air pressure for forward and retract stroke is not acceptable. This is because the air cylinder consumes ALMOST the same amount of pressurized air in retract stroke as the forward stroke. However the power need is confined to forward stroke, and the retract operation does not require significant power at all. To conserve the valuable pressurized air resources, it is advisable to use lower pressure air for retract operation as shown in this animation. Notice that to achieve this a high pressure air coming from pressure tank is divided into two line one of which is fed to the rod end of the air cylinder after passing through a pressure reducer. Also the connection of air lines to a five port four way valve arranged so that it allows two pressure line connection to one air cylinder as shown.

Pneumatic Planishing Hammer Long used in metal fabrication and restoration to smooth large areas of metal, welds and gentle panel crowning. The power head is a heavy-duty aircraft rivet gun. The sturdy frame with 18" throat depth, is beefy enough to smooth 18" gauge steel ! A quick release allows the lower shaft to slide down, to accept panels with deep flanges. The power head adjustment controls the intensity from light to very powerful hammering. A foot control starts and stops the hammering. The tool includes one 1-1/2" dia. flat top die, 3 anvils with different contours and instructions. More info:

Lego Pneumatics: 2-Cylinder Engine This is a two cylinder Lego Pneumatic Engine (LPE) I put together as I had leftover technic beams and pneumatic components after building other projects. The engine provides a good array of power, I would just perfer it run smooth. For now the only item the engine powers is a 9V Technic motor to act as a generator for a lamp. I intend on building the 3-speed manual transmission from and using this to power it instead of an nxt motor. I make use of an Iwata Sprint Jet air compressor that is used for airbrushes. I can get up to 125 psi with it but the engine will run at 60 psi max as it uses the air. The building instructions for this engine plus several other engine variants including a 6-cylinder radial engine can be found here: www.fifth-

Air Compressors & Pneumatic Tools Discussion on criteria for selecting the correct air compressor for home or industrial use. Covers tank size, pressure, pumps, motors and duty-cycles of compressors and reviews air consumption of typical mechanic's air tools. Alright, today on Repairs101 I'm going to address a request from a viewer that I got back in January, and well, it's June right now so I got to say I'm really sorry it took me this long to get to it. Alright , well today on Repairs101 we're at the shipyard, and we're going to talk about air compressors and pneumatic tools. There is a serious compressor. So here's a beautiful air compressor set up. That one's just permanently mounted in the back of this service truck. You can see that it says 30 gallons. So there's an engine mounted air compressor, direct-driven on the side of this fairly new Cummins diesel. Alright now, speaking of air compressors, here's a couple of "tow behind" air compressors made by the SULLAIR company. This bigger one over here delivers a 125 pounds of pressure and 425 cubic feet per minute -- which is quite an impressive amount of air. You'd use that for sandblasting equipment or jackhammers .When you go to choose an air compressor, what's funny is that the first thing that you'll see listed about it is the tank size -- which in reality is about the least important thing to do with the air compressor. What's really important is the pump size and the motor size. And the pump will be rated in cubic feet per minute. If you can't ...

PVE Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator Gone are the days of science fiction when people traveled in transparent bubbles. Today is no longer a product of our imagination. There is a bubble that can carry you without cables, pulleys or pistons. It us our self-supporting vacuum elevator; a light & resistant structure built with aluminum & polycarbonate. Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators are easier to install, maintain & operate than traditional elevators. They are especially ideal for existing homes due to their compact design because excavating a pit 7 & hoistway are not required. Air pressure above & beneath the elevator cab are they key to transporting. Why choose a Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator? Sleek & Compact Design: 37" diameter that can be placed virtually anywhere with a 360 degree panoramic view. Flexibility & Speed: 30 ft./min. available in 2, 3 & 4 stops, up to 35 ft., installation is less that a week & can be relocated if needed. Safe: Due to the advanced safety features, the vacuum elevator cannot fall. also during a power outage, the vacuum elevator will automatically return to the bottom floor. Energy Efficient: Zero energy consumption during descent, low when ascending with 220 volt turbines. Exceptional Price & Value: No costly excavation, hatch or machine room to install; tax benefits, Increases the resale value to your existing home & can be move to a new one; Virtually no maintenance cost nor any lubrication required. Pneumatic Can Crusher (Automatic) This is a can crusher I built over the summer break for the fun of it. I have wanted to build one since 10th grade but it took a few years to acquire the parts. Mostly everything was designed and built by me, I had some help from my dad getting the parts made. It uses Bimba cylinders, IDEC relays, a series one PLC, and random switches that I had. The PLC uses ultra primitive Ladder logic, it would have been 10 times easier to write the code on a TI-83. This machine could be redesigned to crush tall energy drink cans, it would just need a new can chute. I would have liked to design a better method of removing the crushed can but I ran out of ambition. It is timed right now to complete a crush cycle in 2.0 seconds. The main crusher cylinder is severely limited by the air solenoids. They do not allow for enough air flow which prevents the cylinder from getting a good snap into the can. I was considering possibly using a 1/2 inch dia. Bimba with a 1 inch stroke to toggle a manual air switch. Since the toggle switch would let much more air through, the cylinder would snap onto the can, instead of pushing slowly. Please leave design suggestions.
