Smeyer Plagiarism??? I'm really hyper and ranty. I hate plagiarism with a FLAMING HOT BURNING PASSION. If my work was ever copied I'd DIE. Then my zombie would eat the mushy brains of whoever was the plagiarizer. LINKS: Definition of a troll for those of you who have NO idea what I'm talking about: One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (ie 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue. (Got that from urban dictionary ;D ) BE NICE WHEN YOU COMMENT OR U SHALL BE BLOCKKKKEEEDDDDDD!!!!!!!! Have a nice day.

Avoiding Plagiarism: What Do I Need to Cite? Most students understand that they have to cite a source when the use a direct quote, but many don't understand that they also have to cite the ideas of others, even when they're not quoting. Plagiarism Use your own ideas and words. Practice is essential to learning. Each time you choose your words, order your thoughts, and convey your ideas, you can improve your writing. Give credit for copied, adapted and paraphrased material. If you repeat another's exact words you MUST use quotation marks and cite the source. If you adapt a chart or paraphrase a sentence, you must still cite. Avoid using others' work with minor "cosmetic" changes. Examples: Using "less" for "fewer", reversing the order of a sentence, changing terms in a computer code, or altering a layout. If the work is essentially the same, you must give credit. Beware of "Common Knowledge". You don't have to cite "common knowledge", BUT the fact must really be common knowledge. That Abraham Lincoln was the US President during the Civil War is common knowledge; that over 51000 Union and Confederate soldiers died in The Battle of Gettysburg1 is not. There are no freebies. ALWAYS cite words, information, and ideas you use if they are new to you. No matter where you find it! Even if it's in an encyclopedia or on the Internet, you MUST cite it.

Led Zeppelin Examples of Plagiarism READ THIS DESCRIPTION BEFORE COMMENTING! Here is a compilation of 10 artists who have either won legal battles / settlements against Led Zeppelin or are currently in court. In most cases it is unfair to say that Led Zeppelin "stole" other people's music for their own albums. Zeppelin fans will say that they just covered these songs. However, this is not the case. According to the writing credits on I, II, III, & IV, all songs are said to be written by Page/Plant; even traditional songs. After many legal battles from original artists, their name credits have been restored. If you buy an LZ album today and compare it to the first pressing, you will see very different writing credits. Many songs are open to interpretation. It's a 50/50 battle when you listen to Stairway to Heaven. All examples, however, do have back stories as to when Page or Plant referenced the "stolen" song prior to recording it themselves. I had to cram 10 examples into a 10 minute video, so I suggest listening to the songs in full to make your own decisions. I'd also love to hear your side of the argument in the comments below. Let's be civil and open some good-point conversations. If you're using this forum for ignornace and name-calling, you'll be deleted and blocked. Enjoy. Super Mario Galaxy, the Chinese plagiarism version So, you thought that HAVE Online, that Korean Team Fortress 2 with Haruhi Suzumiya was blatant in its inspiration enough? WRONG. The days of the Great Giana Sisters may be long gone (barring that DS game of theirs), but those wacky Chinese succeeded them with the single most blatant 3D Mario clone ever here in 2009, and its name is not Auditore (Don't you remember him, Ezio?), it's Duludubi Star; an extremely obvious copy of Mario Galaxy. This video shows the first four levels of the game. Just sit back and take notes. Oh, and they also stole Klonoa's voice. And if you really must, experience the clone right here: Just click on the box icon to download, and rename the install file to Setup.exe or something. Men at Work accused of plagiarism over 'Down Under' It's one of the most iconic Australian pop songs of all time, but a legal spat has broken out over whether the Men at Work song 'Down Under' is actually a rip-off of a children's song. The '80s anthem rocked its way up the worldwide charts, but the manliness of the song about beer and women has been brought into question by claims it's a Girl Guides song. Lawyers say 'Down Under' is a rip-off of the children's classic 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree' which was written in 1934 by Melbourne music teacher, Marion Sinclair, for a Girl Guides competition. Ms Sinclair sold the rights to the song to a music publishing company called Larrikin before she died and now Larrikin wants compensation from Men at Work's labels Sony, BMG and EMI for lost royalties. The music giants say when Sinclair gave the song to the Girl Guides it became theirs and she no longer has any copyright entitlement. The case has begun in Melbourne's federal court where the legal argument will come down to semantics. Does 'Down Under' use a "substantial" part of the tune or not? If Men at Work lose, the 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree' owners will have the last laugh. The commercial success of 'Down Under' could mean millions of dollars in compensation.
