55g planted aquarium i've done 10g and 2.5g planted setups. i wanted to turn the 55g into one. of course diy, poor mans, low-tech route. oh yeah i dont do aquascaping. as long as it grows i'll be happy. and i'll just trim when they grow in. setup: 55g, two dual shoplights 40w/tubes = 160w = ~2.9w/g, plant/aquarium & sunlight tubes, open top, supersoil and (play)sand subtrates, two small powerheads, 100w heater, no filter, airstone (night use only), eggcrates. plants: anachris/elodea, ludwigia (ovalis or repens?), watersprite, various cryptocorynes, dwarf anubias, brazilian pennywort, unknown (stem) pennywort, microswords, corkscrew vals, unknown amazonsword, and possible glossostigma (hitchhiker), which would be the best xmas gift for 2006. *update: it is a glossostigma elatinoides. i dont think any xmas gift will top this lil'plant. fish: 2m/4fm orange guppies, 4 otocinclus, 2 amano shrimps, 8 lampeyes. possibly will add a few small angels to eat a few guppy fry. plant food: flourish iron and supplement, no co2 setup, just the once/day fish morning feeding. and night time oxygenation. those interested in this route. A Spring day for reptiles on the UL Lafayette Campus - April 4, 2009 morayeel.louisiana.edu . Red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) and American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis) are common reptiles that can be seen sunning on the "knees" (pneumatophores) of the bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) in the swamp ("Cypress Lake") on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Common aquatic plants shown are the Azolla water fern, duckweed, water pennywort, and Spirogyra - the stringy green alga. Spanish moss, which is the bromeliad Tillandsia usneoides, is a common epiphyte hanging from the branches of the bald cypress. The tiny Tillandsia flowers bloom in April-May. Pax's 10 Galon Planted Aquarium It has only been a few weeks since my last video update but quite a bit has happened. I have switched out the Column ruins topped with Java Moss for some driftwood sent to me by a friend. She also send me some Moneywort and pennywort. I hope to get the entire back of the tank filled with the Moneywort (at least up to the sword). I've also moved some things around. The front is lined with crypts and one of the Echinodorus major plants (The other is between the sword and the moneywort in the back). I was having some sickness issues with Pax (betta) but he seems back to normal. His fins have really opened up since being out of his quarantine bowl. Also in this video you can see my DIY Co2 system. It has been up and running for about 10 days. It works fairly well. It's helped me cut down on some of the algae problems I was having (reduced lighting days also helped :P). The rock on the right side of the Driftwood is there until the DW becomes completely water logged (I had it soaking for a week before I put it in my tank (removed all the tannins and helped get it partially waterlogged). The Java Moss is now growing in patches on the Driftwood. I'm really looking forward to seeing this tank develop. In the future I hope to help the cleaning of my tank by adding ghost shrimp and some oto cats. I also want to add some more neons to the school (or give them to my friends and get a dozen or so Boras brigatte aka Chili Rasbora). What do you think? Thanks for watching. Rate, Comment ...

Snuffles planted 1G tank This is my Betta, Snuffleupagus, and his 1 gallon planted tank. The tank has a Play Sand substrate, Tetra 50W heater, Azoo Palm filter using Blue/White bonded filter pad and ceramic bio beads. The driftwood is covered in Java Moss (just trimmed today as it was growing out of the tank, into the plastic of the filter and tank and generally making it difficult for Snuffles to swim around.) The plants are Penny Wort, Windolov Fern, and Java Fern. The tank is lit with a 26W GE "Daylight" 6500K CFL bulb in a gooseneck desk lamp. Not my best video work as this was just thrown together in about 10 min.

San Marcos River Headwaters This is a video tour of the headwaters of the San Marcos River, just downstream of Spring Lake. Spring Lake is fed by Aquarena Springs, which provides extremely high quality water for the flora and fauna downstream of the lake. I think you folks at will get a kick out of this video ; ) Being under the water at this place was everything that I hoped it would be. It's like being a minnow swimming around in a beautifully planted 200G tank. Plants I'm fairly certain that I identified: - Valisnéria Gigantea - Cabomba Aquatica - Zizania texana (Texas Wild Rice) - Ludwigia repens (Red Ludwigia) - Hydrocotyle verticillata (Whorled Marsh Pennywort) - Cabomba Caroliniana (Carolina Fanwort) - Ceratophylum Demersum (Hornwort) ...but there are many others! Hope you like the video.

Interactive Solutions. It may be the case that setting up any division such as the one I describe here is counter-productive. Still, by identifying mini-puzzles, we may be able to divide and conquer this mysterious question. What is the underlying structure below these shapes? How many solutions do we have? How do they grow and how predictably do they expand? I'm sure mathematicians already know the answers to these questions, but they don't post accessible video responses to my videos, do they? Pennywort is a winner. Try some Foco Pennywort today.
