Mars Rocky Outcrop Shows Signs Of Ancient Civilization Active Still Today Must SEE! Is NASA/JPL hiding the truth of life on Mars right under our noses? Find out here. nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov I have taken this image and opened it in GIMP. Gimp Is a free mage enhancer and repair tool. I used gimps heal tool to only bring out what is already in the image. After I healed the area moderately with the heal tool, I then used contrast and brightness to put more depth into the image. The last tool I used was the sharpen tool. Now I will first show you around this image. There are allot of sign of civilization here. Anyone taking this seriously should also consider that what you are about to see are shelters/ homes bases.. built into the rocks and the land. Please investigate further the areas that are being pointed out with the arrow on the screen. These are just some things I see at first glance. Don't go away, I will be zooming in on some areas and enhancing them.. These are structures built, carved into the rock outcrop. Nasa would like you to see it as a large outcrop of rock, only because they understand many will not be able to grasp the idea of civilizations that live in caves and rocks . Look carefully at the areas being pointed out here. As you will see in a moment these are not shadow illusions or have anything to do with pixilation. Once the area is cleaned up some, more detail will come out. Like roof lines, doorways, pathways, trees, shrubs, roads and more. Now I will Open the copied area into GIMP and use the heal tool and try and enhance the image to ...

Taevaskoda magic Estonia di Gianluca Procaccini The Big and Small Taevaskoda on the banks of the Ahja River is one of the most beautiful places in Estonia comprising of the sandstone outcrops surrounded by coniferous forests. The Big Taevaskoda, the highest of the two outcrops, is up to 22.5 metres high from the sea level; however, the brink of the valley is even up to 38 metres high. Upwards of the Big Taevaskoda are the Väike Taevaskoda and several small cliffs that are part of the Ahja River landscape reserve. Spring waters have eroded two caves in the outcropping. A spring called Emaläte (Mother's Spring) flows out of the first of them; the other cave is called Neitsikoobas (Maiden's Cave). Taevaskoda with its beautiful and interesting nature attracts hikers from far and wide.

Curiosity Finds River Rocks and River Beds on Mars NASA's Curiosity rover mission has found evidence a stream once flowed across the area on Mars where the rover is driving. There is earlier evidence for the presence of water on Mars, but this evidence -- images of rocks containing ancient streambed gravels -- is the first of its kind. Scientists are studying the images of stones cemented into a layer of conglomerate rock. The sizes and shapes of stones offer clues to the speed and distance of a long-ago stream's flow. The sizes and shapes of stones offer clues to the speed and distance of a long-ago stream's flow. "From the size of gravels it carried, we can interpret the water was moving about 3 feet per second, with a depth somewhere between ankle and hip deep," said Curiosity science co-investigator William Dietrich of the University of California, Berkeley. "Plenty of papers have been written about channels on Mars with many different hypotheses about the flows in them. This is the first time we're actually seeing water-transported gravel on Mars. This is a transition from speculation about the size of streambed material to direct observation of it." The finding site lies between the north rim of Gale Crater and the base of Mount Sharp, a mountain inside the crater. Earlier imaging of the region from Mars orbit allows for additional interpretation of the gravel-bearing conglomerate. The imagery shows an alluvial fan of material washed down from the rim, streaked by many apparent channels, sitting uphill of the new ...
JK Aquifer Outcrop Near the Finke River Outback central Australia has a very low topographic gradient. Hence, rock outcrops are few and far between. Here is one rare outcrop of the Jurassic-Cretaceous (JK) aquifer along the Finke River. Fractures in the sandstone beds permit groundwater recharge during episodic flows on the Finke River as it flows over the rocks.
WEDDING CAKE ISLAND (1980) by Midnight Oil Wedding Cake Island was released on Midnight Oil's four track EP entitled Bird Noises in 1980. It was a surf guitar instrumental, and did not feature charismatic singer/front man Peter Garrett. Instead it was written by Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie and featured them on guitars. Garrett did say in interview in 1980 that it originally had his vocal over the top, which he described as 'libellous' and 'obscene'. This vocal was pulled, the record pressed and it was one of the few tracks bv the Oils which was played on radio. At that stage of their career, the band's large following was generated by their live shows, rather than the conventional media. Wedding Cake Island is a rocky island outcrop, approximately a few hundred metres off Coogee Beach, Sydney, Australia. When the swell is right, there's good surfing to be had. Coogee is a beautiful beach (Australia has lots of them), and worth a visit, although you wouldn't bother going to Wedding Cake Island for a picnic unless you like rocky outcrops and getting wet. Midnight Oil are a great band, and if you are not familiar with their music, check out their albums. They are an Australian band that had some success overseas, including the US (even with all the Aussie references in their songs). There is no video for this so I have made my own widescreen slideshow video, featuring images of the band, Wedding Cake Island, surfing, Coogee Beach etc. Comments are welcome.

Evidence of an ancient river found on Mars by Curiosity Rover Photo #1 Remnants of Ancient Streambed on Mars NASA's Curiosity rover found evidence for an ancient, flowing stream on Mars at a few sites, including the rock outcrop pictured here, which the science team has named "Hottah" after Hottah Lake in Canada's Northwest Territories. It may look like a broken sidewalk, but this geological feature on Mars is actually exposed bedrock made up of smaller fragments cemented together, or what geologists call a sedimentary conglomerate. Scientists theorize that the bedrock was disrupted in the past, giving it the titled angle, most likely via impacts from meteorites. The key evidence for the ancient stream comes from the size and rounded shape of the gravel in and around the bedrock. Hottah has pieces of gravel embedded in it, called clasts, up to a couple inches (few centimeters) in size and located within a matrix of sand-sized material. Some of the clasts are round in shape, leading the science team to conclude they were transported by a vigorous flow of water. The grains are too large to have been moved by wind. A close-up view of Hottah reveals more details of the outcrop. Broken surfaces of the outcrop have rounded, gravel clasts, such as the one circled in white, which is about 1.2 inches (3 centimeters) across. Erosion of the outcrop results in gravel clasts that protrude from the outcrop and ultimately fall onto the ground, creating the gravel pile at left. This image mosaic was taken by Curiosity's 100-millimeter Mastcam ...

Selkirk Outcrops Walk Here's a video for structural geology nerds like me! In this video, I'm walking around on outcrops of metamorphic and igneous rock near the site of the Alpine Club of Canada's 2012 General Mountaineering Camp. I shot this POV video with an iPhone 4 mounted in a Miveu chest harness. During roughly the first half of the video, I've got the phone mounted on my chest. During the latter half, I took the phone off the chest harness (but left it in its fisheye-lens bracket), and `flew' the phone over the outcrops, about a foot off the surface. The viewer will see that I was also taking still photos. Those are available in the set `Selkirk Outcrops 2012' on Flickr.

Sa Moana Resort, Samoa (1080HD) For more great information, photos and video about Samoa, see PleaseTakeMeTo's Samoa Travel Guide - Sa Moana is a specialist 3 1/2 star surfing resort about 60 minutes drive from Apia, or 45 minutes from the airport. Some of the rooms are air conditioned, the rest have fans, but the really good news is that the surf breaks very consistently about 50 metres off shore and when you're not out there getting amongst it, you can watch the break from the restaurant and bar. Around the resort you'll also find volcanic rock outcrops and some white sandy bays.

Big Stone County Potluck and Protest: Please Don't Take Our Outcrops Away People living in Big Stone County, location of the headwaters of the Minnesota River, are concerned about a proposal by Strata mining company to blast away granite rock outcroppings next to the Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge for aggregate to make concrete. Before a county planning commission meeting, they held a potluck at the local cafe in Clinton, MN, then marched, sang and rallied before the community center. Bluestem counted 100 people there, mostly opposed to the proposal. No videotaping of the proceedings were allowed, After the meeting, the citizens met back in the cafe for bars and beverages.

Glen Vale, West Lomond & The Bonnet Stane The Bunnet Stane (or bonnet stone) is a strange rock formation near the hamlet of Gateside in Fife. It sits upon one of the calciferous sandstone outcrops that exist around the base of the Lomond Hills. The Bunnet Stane itself consists of an elevated table of rock, about ten feet by twenty feet across, which sits upon a thin column of rock like a giant mushroom. There are several romantic explanations for the stone's shape, but it was formed entirely by the natural weathering of the exposed outcrop. There is a small man-made cave carved into the outcrop beneath the Bunnet Stane called Maiden's Bower. The story goes that many years ago a young maiden fell in love with the son of a rival family. The stone was their meeting spot but one day, as she approached, she saw her father's men ambush and kill the young man. After that she refused to return home and spent the remainder of her life in the cave, becoming known locally as a saint. More realistic theories suggest that the cave may have been built by a landlord as a bothy or by surveyors in the 19th century. The Bunnet Stane is not marked on the 1:50 000 OS map. Its coordinates are: Landranger 58 GR 189 071. A path leads to the Bunnet Stane from an unmarked car park at GR 185 082 on the same map. Both the Bunnet Stane and the car park are marked on the 1:25 000 OS Explorer map (No.370 - Glenrothes North, Falkland & Lomond Hills). West Lomond is the highest point in the county of Fife, Scotland and the highest peak in the ...

The Healing Stones of Dyfed This is an exploration into the origin of the bluestones which were brought to the circular enclosure of Stonehenge from a numinous shrine and quarry of Carn Meini ("The Cairn of Stones") in the Preseli Mountains in Dyfed (Pembrokeshire) in Cymru (Wales) long before the raising of the trilithons during the Third Millenium BCE Evidence for prehistoric and later exploitation of the stone at Carn Meini has been found despite the site's remoteness. Two nearby chapels and many houses in the area were built from Carn Meini stone. The east end of the Preseli ridge in Pembrokeshire is believed to have provided the 80 or so stones taken 250 km south to Stonehenge in Wiltshire soon after 2600 BCE. The Carn Meini outcrops on Mynydd Preseli have become famous in archaeological literature as the geological source for the Stonehenge bluestones. In 1923 petrological examination confirmed the scattered outcrops of Carn Meini on the south-west of Mynydd Preseli as being the source of the distinctive blue-grey spotted dolerite with large white spots used in some of the earliest phases. In Pembrokeshire, a number of prehistoric monuments, including a ruinous cairn at Carn Meini and Gors Fawr stone circle to the south, are also composed of this unusual rock. The Banc Du Neolithic causewayed enclosure lies at the western end of the Preseli ridge and is the first confirmed Neolithic enclosure in Wales and the mid-west of Britain others no doubt await discovery. Locally the stones were believed ...
