The Tragically Hip - New Orleans Is Sinking Probably the most well known Tragically Hip song, from the album "Up To Here" from 1989.
The Battle of New Orleans - Lego Video I cannot take any credit for this absolutely awesome video - all credit goes to the original creators and the late, great Johnny Horton for his stunning performance of "The Battle of New Orleans". The song takes a cheeky approach to Andrew Jackson's now famous battle during the War of 1812 - the battle took place AFTER the war officially ended, however by the time new of the war's official end reached the United States most people heard of Jackson's victory, and then just assumed that he was the reason for the victory - which made him a national hero. Lyrics: In 1814 we took a little trip Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip. We took a little bacon and we took a little beans And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans. [Chorus:] We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin. There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago. We fired once more and they began to runnin' on Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. We looked down the river and we see'd the British come. And there must have been a hundred of'em beatin' on the drum. They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring. We stood by our cotton bales and didn't say a thing. [Chorus] Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise If we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked 'em in the eye We held our fire 'til we see'd their faces well. Then we opened up with squirrel guns and really gave 'em ... well [Chorus] Yeah, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles ...

City of New Orleans NOTE: THIS VIDEO IS OUTDATED AND IS TO BE REVISITED & REVISED WHEN TIME ALLOWS. HOWEVER, BY POPULAR DEMAND, I WILL LEAVE THE ORIGINAL VERSION ONLINE. WHEN THE NEW VERSION IS UPLOADED, THIS VERSION WILL REMAIN UNAFFECTED. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING. This is obviously my most popular video to date, telling the story of favored overnight passenger train running between Chicago and New Orleans. Since then it's logged over 300000 views as the past of American railroading and travel are relived by the viewers. For most, it's a train of not so long ago that reminds us of how things have changed since then. I call it nostalgia. At some point, I plan to do an updated version of this very much loved video as you can see the techniques you see here are out of date compared to where I am now. Original description: This is a video dedicated to the Illinois Central's most famous daytime train. It mostly contains footage of MSTS, but there is a clip or two of TRS2006 and an excursion train me & dad followed to Cookeville back in October of 2005. Enjoy!

NRA: The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina The video you will see on this web site is horrifying. The crimes committed against law-abiding gun owners are beyond comprehension. The arrogance of anti-gun politicians and government officials and their hate of freedom will churn your stomach. The law is the law, the Constitution is the Constitution. If ONE local mayor or police chief can decide what the Second Amendment means, it opens the door to tyranny—where ANY mayor or police chief can say what the Second Amendment means. You've seen this brand of abuse of freedom in the history books—in the pages about days of gun confiscations leading to the terror of Stalin, Mao and Hitler. But you'd never in a million years think it could happen in America. Well, it can and it did. And it will happen again unless we take action today. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Police Superintendent P. Eddie Compass unleashed a wave of confiscations with these chilling words: "No one will be able to be armed. We will take all weapons. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns." Thousands of firearms were then confiscated from law-abiding gun owners. The police gave no paperwork or receipts for those guns. They just stormed in and seized them. With your help we're going to make the first time in New Orleans the LAST time in America. Thank you! Now, one year later, these crimes against gun owners have snowballed into a far greater threat to our freedoms. Even though NRA secured a court order demanding their immediate and unconditional ...

This Old House Rebuilds New Orleans For the second project of the season, This Old House travels to New Orleans, Louisiana, to help a fourth-generation resident of the Lower 9th ward return home, while following stories of rebuilding and recovery throughout the city. Host Kevin OConnor visits Musicians Village with founder Harry Connick, Jr. to see how he, along with childhood friend Branford Marsalis, are providing new housing for the citys musicians through Habitat for Humanity. In historic Holy Cross, along the banks of the Mississippi River, homeowner Rashida Ferdinand shows Kevin why she loves her c. 1892 flood-damaged shotgun single and artists studio, and how she plans to restore and expand them after a two-year vacancy. Master carpenter Norm Abram meets up with her builder to assess the challenges of building in post-Katrina New Orleans, while homeowner Marna David shows Kevin how she managed to renovate her own shotgun single in Holy Cross, twice once before the storm, and once after.

New Orleans - My Journey Contest Video for Lonely Planet Lonely Planet author Tom Downs loves New Orleans' soulful, saucy and eccentric nature. Located as far South as geogrpahically possible in the USA, it's only mildly American in flavour, more a gumbo of French, Carribbean and African American. Tourists might flock to Bourbon Street's non-stop carnival but the whole city really knows how to have a great time. Produced byLonely Planet. The City of New Orleans - Willie Nelson Slide show based upon "The City of New Orleans", Willie Nelson rendition. The City of New Orleans - Lyrics Ridin' on the City of New Orleans Illinois Central, Monday mornin' rail Fif*** cars and fif*** restless riders Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail All along the south-bound odyssey The train pulls out at Kankakee And rolls along past houses, farms and fields Passin' trains that have no names And freight yards full of old black men And the grave-yards of the rusted automobiles Good morning America, how are you? Say don't you know me, I'm your native son I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans And I'll be gone five-hundred miles when the day is done Dealin' cards with the old men in the club car Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle Feel the wheels grumblin' 'neath the floor And the sons of Pullman porters, and the sons of engineers Ride their father's magic carpet made of steel Mothers with their *** asleep, rockin' to the gentle beat And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel Night time on the City of New Orleans Changin' cars in Memphis, Tennessee Halfway home, we'll be there by mornin' Thru the Mississippi darkness rollin' down to the sea But all the towns and people seem to fade into a bad dream And the steel rails still ain't heard the news The conductor sings his songs again The passengers will please refrain This train has got the disappearin' railroad blues.
