SAP-1 TTL Computer Demo -- Entering and Running a Program This is my SAP-1 Computer, inspired by Malvino's book, Digital Computer Electronics. It has 38 TTL chips and was built using wire-wrap. The computer features a 4-bit address bus, 16 bytes of RAM and five 8-bit registers. Each instruction takes 6 cycles -- 3 fetch and 3 execute. The clock runs at about 0.5 Hz, thus each instruction takes about 3 seconds. This slow speed of operation was intentional to allow observation of the data bus (or W bus). There are 6 instructions: LDA, ADD, SUB, JMP, OUT and HLT. The JMP instruction was added to allow observation of continuous operation. Instruction Opcodes are: LDA 0000 ADD 0001 SUB 0010 JMP 0011 OUT 1110 HLT 1111 Instructions are entered as a 4-bit Opcode and a 4-bit Operand (Direct Address). There are 6 data constants entered in addresses 10-15 for this demo program. The demo program does this: 65+47-24+3+16+7 = 114 (binary 01110010). The JMP instruction is not used.

BCD-to-7-Segment Decoder with Latched Output in Minecraft (Teaser) One thing I've been interested in lately is bringing production integrated circuit designs into Minecraft. Given the fact that most of the 74-series ICs have logic diagrams available, it makes importing working designs into Minecraft more trivial than designing my own circuits, and using a design that's already proven to be working can reduce debugging time dramatically. The circuit in this case relies on emulating two separate ICs: a 7447 BCD-to-7-Segment Decoder and half of a 74LS390 Dual Decade Counter. The clever bit comes from from how I achieve the relatively smooth digit transitions despite the large amount of circuitry, only some of which is shown in the video. To eliminate propagation delays, I use two synchronized clocks, one driving the entire counter circuit underground and one driving a set of 7 D-latches, with a delay, above ground. Astute readers will have surmised that the delay allows the output from the 7-segment decoder to settle, then the D-latches are used to simultaneously clock all 7 segments at once before the output starts to move on to the next digit. There will be a fully narrated video tour explaining the entire mechanism later, but overall the steps are as follows: 1. Clock generator generates relatively slow pulses. 2. Pulses are fed into a 74390 decade counter IC. 3. Output feeds into a 4-bit adder of my own design, with the other operand currently tied to 0 in order to pass the counter along unchanged. 4. relay Full adder + schematic!(5 relays 8.4v AB-Cin// Sumout-Cout) this is the 3rd relay logic circuit i builded.. the 1st with a scope. this isn't based on logic port tecnology, if you will to build xonr,and logic ports for make a full adder you need 7 relays, i used an IF based circuit with only 5 relays (double and step to step). I found a little diagram online with the same tecnic i used but it will force you to use the 4x relays... i've onlu a double so i thinked a solution and that's it (scheme on video). With this i will build a 4 bit adder with output 5bit.. i need other 2 full adder and one half adder. (For that project i've picked up the old half adder with 1 relay but it's stupid, i've added another relay i called "inverter IF", if A is on it doesn't make nothing... if B is on he invert the A and B so the half adder recognize the B entry too, and if a and B are on he invert always but it work too) next i will add a 4b memory for load operand 1 and next operand 2 and another one for load the result., so if i do it fine i can emulate the *.
