Not All Antibiotics are Equal in their effect on Candida and gut flora also see my Lyme blog: 1) If you take your antibiotics with food, they will likely remain in the stomach for a while (since food stays in the stomach for several hours). So it might not matter whether you wait an hour or two hours after taking the antibiotics to take the probiotics. 2) My LLND recommended taking the antibiotics with cold water before a meal so they would pass through the stomach quickly. This was great when I was taking antibiotics that had to be taken on an empty stomach--I would take them an hour before a meal. But the antibiotics I'm on now need to be taken with food so it doesn't work. And a lot of cold water too soon before meals hurts my digestion. 3) Even once an antibiotic has moved through some of your GI tract, it will still be affecting your gut flora, simply because it's spread throughout the body. It's not like it affects your gut for one hour and then disappears from the gut. 4) I wish there were some good research on this. There's plenty of research on probiotics for antibiotic-associated diarrhea but not for this burping/sugar intolerance after broad-spectrum antibiotics issue. 5) I don't even know what it is. There are many benefits that you can get from fermenting your fruit. The fermentation process digests the sugars and carbohydrates making them nearly sugar free. The fermented fruit will not taste sweet. It will have the flavour of the fruit without its sweetness. When making sauerkraut the vitamin C content is much greater than in a plain old cabbage.
